Ok I thought my gamepad mess up I just unbox logitch F710 ..
Wait what's this now? I play on PS4/controller and never noticed anything o_O Hmm maybe i'll take a closer look lol
This is a client side issue not an internet issue.
Controller lag is due to hardware/software on your system (PC/PS3/PS4). Controller (game pad) driver doesn't communicate directly in anyway to your network card driver.
Internet lag issue would be that your moving your character all around but other people in your party either see you teleport across the screen or see you red dot even though you are still actively moving your character on screen. (this is not the problem associated in this thread).
With over 11.8k page views in one day for this thread with other bugs in this folder near 50 views. And the japanese thread has 50k views, it's unlikely to think this is an isolated incident. And there has also been an official response to this specific thread saying that it is a top priority to be fixed.

I have not had any problems on PS4 controller. But I remember back in February some of them terrible issues they had with controllers, I was on PS3 then. Did 6-9 with no hiccups and ran around a little bit, did not notice anything wrong.
I'm glad I haven't encountered any kind of issue with this (yet?). I've been playing for a few hours since 2.38 went live and I'm using a Dualshock 3 controller on PC through Motioninjoy, and haven't experienced any issues. I thought I noticed my war steed running a little slower than usual, but after looking over the patch notes, I realized that the movement speed of mounts had been adjusted.
Other than that, no problems so far. Whatever is going on though, hope it gets resolved soon for the rest of you.
The only mount affected by that was the Goobbue (it was raised slightly to match the running speed of the other mounts). If you are having inertia on a mount you are experiencing the issue. It's more noticeable on the mounts because they have a higher top speed.
Mmmm... I wouldn't think so, no. It does state that the mount in question was altered, yes, but maybe my mind played a trick on me and was like "Oh, the mount speed has changed.", then I hopped on the game and thought it had affected my mount as well, lol. Maybe I just never noticed the actual speed of it before. As for movement speed during combat and such though, I'm dodging AoEs and everything just as I always have, so that's why I said I haven't seen an issue regarding the controller. I tried fighting on my SCH, DRG, and PLD, but nothing felt different.
Until my movement is being limited to where I'm getting hit by AoEs for no reason and such, then I'd say all is working as intended on my end.
Err they specifically said they did change the code for gamepad control (*Revamping of implemented programs and rewriting processes to be quicker and more memory efficient.) So when they modified it to try and be more memory efficient (god knows how many Kb of RAM they saved xD) they introduced the bug.
Hence the "Don't Fix what aint broken" motto, I do programming myself, mostly PLC automation, and am very aware of the dangers that come with changing code.
Well, yeah. There's def degrees. My movement issues are also on the lower end (just needed to change my sensitivity by 10 and I mostly don't notice) but if you're having significant hang in any situation then you're experiencing it. Obv for your case (and mine too mostly) it's not as big a deal, but they're aware of it and it will hopefully be gone soon.
I'm dreading doing Titan EX and Levi EX. Heck, even Ifrit EX. Thankfully I don't need to do any of them again, anytime soon...yet.
yes this bug is very annoying, but I just cleared T6-T9 last night without issue. acid rain and lunar dynamo no issue.
I'm playing on the PS4, but this only seems to happen for my chocobo. I can run just fine personally, but poor Bo has a hitch in his step whenever I try to get off the line.
Oh man, I thought the response felt sluggish. THIS explains why I was having trouble with Titan HM's Landslides last night! I haven't missed a dodge since switching from a PS3 to a PS4.
And the Tanks were unforgiving with their comments. They even vote kicked someone who couldn't get out of any of the Weight of the Lands soon enough.
I've noticed movement problems right after the update. I thought it was just me being tired yesterday, but the issues continue! My melee feels slow as hell even with movement-speed buff. Glad the fix is coming tomorrow
How about don't tell people what should or shouldn't ruin a game for them? I won't be playing until this issue is fixed because it's incredibly noticeable, and has a dramatic effect on combat as a DRG. Call me crazy, but I tend not to enjoy games so much when a blatant bug is putting me at a jarring disadvantage.
It's weird, I play on 2 different PCs and on one of them the issue is pretty noticeable, though it mostly just feels weird rather than being very detrimental and on the other I don't notice it at all. I'd imagine it's affecting people with a varying degree of delay.
Died in T9 last night because of this analogue issue. T7 sucked too.
Having issues here as well. PC user w/ a PS4 controller.
Any new News about it?
Thanks Camate & Hiroshi for taking care of this as quickly as possible.
oh my, I thought it was just me being derpy because I was tired from work last night :P using logitech f310 for PC
Please fix this obvious bug with the HIGHEST priority. I am getting a little annoyed at these "fixes" for things that are not broken. A few patches ago, there was a controller bug that was introduced where it would take 1-2 seconds to switch crossbars using RB1. That was a new bug introduced because they decided to "fix" something that wasn't broken. They ended up reverting back. Why do you keep introducing bugs that affect controllers? Do you not test this out BEFORE the patches go live? I'm confused and question your quality assurance checks.
Again, this is certainly an obvious bug that is affecting hundreds of thousands of players. Please fix this with the highest priority. It should be simple enough to just revert back to the prior controller setup.
I hope, this hotfix is coming today. Playing with this bug is annoying as hell!
After the hot fix. there is still a huge dead zone from when i move the controller stick to when the character actually moves.
I pulled up the gamepad configuration and overlapped it on FFXIV so i could Test my gamepad from windows.
There's a box that shows the stick movement.
I had to have the stick cursor all the way on the edge of the box before my character started moving.
This is an XBOX 360 for Windows Controller
PS4 seems fine when i logged in. No dead zone at all.
Thanks for solving it so fast! :3. I expected the fix for Friday
On PS4 the initial movement lag is (mostly?) gone but it still acts different. It seems like changing directions is much slower, it feels sluggish. Try it by running in one direction and snapping to the opposite. Might have thought it was my imagination, but certain tricky jumps in Mor Drama makes it obvious something is still different.
ps4 controller is ruined..................still feel small amt of lag compare to previous 2.38........not feeling like playing with this lame lag. what did se do?!!
Report, I use xbox one gamepad in PC... And no problems by now since the patch, so maybe it is some set with the PS4 controller? >.<
(Alert, have to clear it up, I'm not a fan of Xbox and I don't even have one! Just the controller because it is good in PC, okay?! Don't kill me nya! T_T, It's just that I hate motioninjoy and cheapy programs! )
All my gamepad issues have been resolved since the hotfix.
Thank you SE for fixing it so quickly.
To be honest... I have always played with PSone, Ps2, Ps3 controllers all my life since kid... So I was a bit reluctant about using a Xbox one controller, the symmetry of it seemed weird, everything... And I needed to find the drivers for it (Still better than motioninjoy)
Saying that, despite being a sony Fan... Xbox one controller is AWESOME... That's the feeling after one week or two (The time you need to adapt to it after being decades with Sony controllers). The directionals (Or Dpad, use it a lot in FFXIV) adapts very well to your wishes. Somehow the position of the wheels is not so bad for FFXIV in my opinion, neither the buttons. And it has a lot of endurance... (I decided to buy it because I got tired of buying cheapy imitations of PS3 one and all of them breaking in few months or less, or having to play with a bad button or feeling since the first day)
Three months already with it, feeling awesome. If it survived that time with a noob like me who smash the buttons all the time with impatience... Then it is a good controller, has the look and functionality of the first day.
And... Obviously, its compatibility with PC is 100%, more now that it has the correct drivers provided by microsoft.
I might pick one up some time, i've got an MLG 360 pad that i use with custom drivers, so would quite like to see how the xbox one pads drivers work.
