Another theory about the fruit is this

Plum - Lightens red hues but at the same time increases green and blue hues.
Apple - Deepens red hues but at the same time lessens green and blue hues.
Valfruit - Lightens green hues but at the same time increases red and blue hues.
Pear - Deepens green hues but at the same time lessens red and blue hues.
Pineapple - Lightens blue hues but at the same time increases red and green hues.
Berries - Deepens blue hues but at the same time lessens red and green hues.

Apparently someone used this to attain snow white in like two dye sessions.

I've got a listing of one instance 1 apple, one of 2. Either someone misreported or there's another factor we're missing.

It's probably not a missing factor but the fact that every color change has a possibility of becoming one of two colors. From what has been happening it's only happened with the first few feeds. So of course only time will tell.

If someone wants Soot Black, you can try a theory I derivated from post #81 and a bit of observation on my chocobo (staple is in "good" state)
1st session : 17 Berries
2nd session : 2 Apples then 7 Pears
3rd session : 1 Berry

Hardcore version :
1st session : 22 Berries
2nd session : 8 Apples then 7 Pears
3rd session : 1 Berry


I'd test it myself but I have a lot of friends to provide fruits with and that's not the color I want ^^
Please don't be mad if I'm wrong...

Sunset Orange -> XXX amounts of Apples giving ONE feather notice = Blood Red.

Thank you, this confirms Pumpkin Orange after 15 messages and Sunset Orange after 16. And now we know 17 messages gives Blood Red. One more apple should possibly give Dalamund Red. I know for a fact one berry message from Blood Red should give Dalamund, but seeing one more apple instead should prove interesting.

I did notice a possible discrepancy, though. In the other spreadsheet (that's essentially useless now since we're all pretty damn sure it's based on feather procs and not total number of feeds), two combinations for Lavender Blue/Purple were reported: 15 berries total and 17 berries total. Your chart has 17 berry procs listed for the same color. Someone had to be false-reporting to one of the spreadsheets, though I can't be sure which.

Quick question which of the two you think may end up being black? hardcore version or normal? I can test out normal now and see what happens in 18hours. Or just wait for more blue to grow and do the hardcore version.

Hey all, would like to add my progress.

I'm aiming for a blue color...specifically Raptor, but I semi screwed myself by not planting enough berries. My FC used them up by the first feeding, so while I wait for my berries to finish up (tomorrow probably), I tried to see if I could get to the blue palette through other means. (I have not been successful yet).

Here is my results thus far:

(Desert Yellow) - Used 12 Berries --> New Feathers after the 3rd feed, and all feeds after
Used 10 Pineapples -> New Feathers after all feeds
Used 6 Berries --> New Feathers after all feeds
Result: Ash Grey

(Ash Grey) - Used 4 Berries --> New Feathers after 1st feed, and all feeds after
Result: Goobbue Grey

(Goobbue Grey) - Used 10 Pear --> New Feathers after 4th feed, new feathers after the rest
Result: Meadow Green

(Meadow Green) - Used 6 Pineapples --> New Feathers after 3rd feed, new feathers after the rest
Result: Apple Green

(Apple Green) - Used 5 Apples --> New feathers after 5th feed
Result: Lime Green

I'm going to try two more variations, and if a blue palette doesnt show up by then, I'll be wiping the results and feeding 21 berries at desert yellow.

This thread is resulting more interesting than i expected, i still believe it's RGB based but i'll keep monitoring this thread

Also , just an idea, if you're going to wipe it, try feeding large amount of berries and some plums, let's say ~10 berries until you get at least 3 messages, and plums until you get 1, i think this should lead to blue.

I got it from this post. As of now, not sure if you need to do the colors in different feeding sessions or not, so a few of the colors are cumulative fruits. If it's shown that it doesn't work that way, I'll remove those ones.

I have a hunch that they both could technically be correct and it might take an extra fruit or two if you split up sessions.

Relevant to this conversation! Someone just posted that they got Lavender Purple with 13 feather changes (out of 15 total berries fed).

I figured I'd post this here as well. Not sure if it will be any help.
This is my findings so far. This testing will be done with ONLY O'ghomoro Berries. (For all of my tests stables were in good condition.)

With my choco in Desert yellow, I fed my choco 1 O'Ghomoro Berry and waited 6 hours. There was no change. Nor a message.

On my next attempt I fed him 25 O'ghomoro berries. The "Feathers changed color" message appeared 23 times. The resulting color was Othard Blue.
This so far is a total of 26 total berries fed for what its worth.

On my third round of feeding I gave Kyoji 5 more berries until I got the message "Feathers changed color" again. The result this time was Royal Blue.
This is a total of 31 berries at this point.

I will now once again feed until i get another message to see if there is even another that will happen. The end goal I'm looking to achieve is Void Blue.
I will post results tonight or tomorrow.

Edit: I fed my choco another 12 Berries and still no change. I would appear that Royal blue is the cap if I feed nothing but berries. Or if this is RNG I have gotten unlucky. Will try to start feeding Mamook Pears next.

I'm so tempted to level a few alts just to test things like this and be able to record it exactly how I want.
I have plum purple and really want Colibri. Let me know if you overshoot it so I can try to figure out what kind of color it even counts as ;_;

Edit: Well jesus christ. Maybe there's a certain number of fruits you need to get the proc to progress to a new color. Seems a little odd that the berries would jump so quickly from lavender to royal blue if that's the case, however.


Also, at the post above, I feel like I've seen a few reports of people not getting the message anymore for anything besides apples once they get royal blue. Too sleepy right now to hunt for the posts u_u

Shale Brown or Slate Grey?

Fourth Feeding:

Sky blue at this point. Fed 7 O'ghomoro Berries, one at a time. Got the "growing new feathers" message after the 7th berry and stopped feeding. The resulting color was Raptor Blue.

Something I have learned: In my opinion, it's better to feed one type of fruit at a time until you get one "new feathers are growing" message. Only keep going if you know what you're doing because you can skip over colors.

28 Apples fed. Skipping to Sunset Orange hopefully so I can get an even Blood Red. Then it's on to trying to find the high red color by feeding tons of apples.
Result: Sunset Orange. I successfully skipped to were I wanted to. I just took the total number of apples I used last time to hit Sunset Orange/Blood Red and split the difference.

2nd Stage - 6 Apples fed. ( 34 Apples total)
6 Apples fed. Doesn't count since I skipped to get here. This should land me on Blood Red, baring any unforeseen weirdness.
Result: Blood Red

3rd Stage - 100 Apples, 7 Berries fed. (134 Apples, 7 Berries total.)
Blood Red IS the cap for just Apples. Anyone who says otherwise will need screenshot proof of their Blood Red feed.
Result: Dalamud Red

Apple (deepens red) - increases red towards 255, decreases green and blue towards 0.
Plum (lightens red) - decreases red towards 0, increases green and blue towards 255.

So I got Snow White after 2 sessions:

1st Session: Base color --> Bone White
Doman Plums: 12 used, with 10 "feather" procs
Valfruit: 14 used, with 12 "feather" procs
Cieldales Pineapples: 7 used, with 6 "feather" procs

2nd Session: Bone White --> Snow White
Doman Plums: 9 used, with 6 "feather" procs
Valfruit: 2 used, with 2 "feather" procs

EDIT: Stable condition was Good throughout. I also rotated feeding the different fruits in the first session (i.e. 1 doman, 1 valfruit, 1 cieldales, 1 doman, 1 valfruit, etc.)

Anyone know how to change from Colobri Pink to Snow White ?

An update:

(Lime Green) - Used 10 Valfruit --> New Feathers after 6th feed, new feathers for the rest
Used 17 Berries --> New Feathers after 1st feed and every feed after
Result: Othard Blue!!!!!

I got lucky to get my hands on 17 berries, so I just used them all up, and that's the result. I'll probably use some feeds to try to get it to lighten up to raptor, but I'm very happy to get on blue color now.

My chocobo results so far


starting color: Regal Purple: Fed 12 O'ghmomoro berries with NO "new feathers" (I expect they will have no impact), fed 1 Dolman Plum => new feathers msg => Royal Blue

Starting color: Honey yellow
Fed: 13 Mamook pears, 18 Xelphatol Apples, 16 Cieladalaes pineapples.
No new feathers message, and my wallet is gone. Thanks Obama.

I set out on a quest to get a Snow White chocobo. I'm trying to use the same method described here by Syrehn and compare the results.

I'm waiting for my fruit to be done to mimic the third feed, but at least so far it's more proof that it's the "feather" message that is the deciding factor, not the number of fruit.

Well this is fun...

In 2 feedings I got to snow white...

First feeding 1 doman plum for the plumage will change, then 3 more for new feathers grow then another feeding but this time 1 plumage will change and one feathers will grow (all doman plums)

While this is true, we need to focus on single data point, X, first, and understand what it does, before we make it more complicated and play with X, Y, and Z combinations.

May I suggest you do a drop down selection for the colors? This will remove any input inconsistency. There are 85 colors defined in game.
IE:
milloncorn yellow
milloncorn
Millioncorn
Milloncorn Yellow
Milloncorn yellow

I did 2 Apples from Othard Blue and got feather message to Storm Blue. I have now fed 4 more Apples and received my feather message and will see in the morning!
