wow great point i know lots of people in ff11 who had mules to level different crafts and now i know why SE wants to do this and thats because they want people to buy more mules.....
Man FF11 people (me too since i played for 6 years) got raped for cash.... i wont support it again.
it's low priority stuff for now and not even looked at although it been mentioned so wouldn't worry too much about crafting part for now, once they make another post mentioning it should make a new thread and go full on discussion in there for this stuff.

Every single person I know in FFXI who is a die hard crafter, having multiple characters so as to master all of the crafts which they wished to do, were still very social. Mastering multiple crafts didn't make them antisocial. It's what they preferred to leveling other jobs. They just had to purchase multiple mules to do it.
Also, in XIV, not everyone will wnat to level all crafts, or even do any crafting period. Just like there are those who don't want to do DoL Class, DoM, or DoW. Not everyone is going to want to level every class.
People already rip everyone off that is a DoH currently, so it realistically wouldn't change anything but make it so you can't fully cap off every single crafting class. Logically they won't recess your progression when they raise the caps because you've already hit the cap and it would be silly to say you can't do everything now with rank 50 DoH classes. Though when you get down to it, the focus of an MMORPG has been and always will be the battle aspect, no MMO has yet to strike a perfect balance between support and offense system, not even TERA did with it's political system.
Yea leveling sub crafts again and again is so much fun .Is not even about the main craft anymore.
I fail to see how can you support such a thing.
I have no idea what your talking bout tera and what not or balance etc.

Edit: let me simplify it for ya, since you get carried away every time speaking about unrelated stuff.
1. it makes you pay for alts.
2. it makes you play alts.
3. you have to re-level all subcrafts + the part of the main craft you already leveled in your main as a sub for a different craft.

Mastery limitation is one thing I did not want to be carried over from XI, but I can deal with it.

uggg they are managing to ruin this game again with all the restrictions, i don't want to be told i can't level every craft if that is what i want to do. outside this i likes the new info's but seriously man se stop with the restrictions, other mmo's give us free multiple accounts to make ....u give us one, that means that one needs to work like that, be able to do everything on it.
To all the people complaining about the coming changes and planned changes: if it was in the game design vision before Dec 2010, chances are that it's not in there now. Tanaka's game is dead. Get over it. Tanaka's vision was failing to keep players because there was no focus and you could do everything yourself w/o ever talking to another person. This is Yoshida's game now. Changes are coming. Drastic changes. We, the players, asked for them. If you don't like having to interact with people to get things done, your best bet is to quit now because it's only gonna get harder for the antisocial "I wanna do everything on my own and shouldn't need to seek help if I don't want it" crowd.
Would be nice if some of the unique actions they mentioned for the class is where its 0 cost for the actual class but other classes has to spend more if they really want to use it, or something like that. I was thinking the Job system was going to make it more job specific action/abilities/traits/spells so can't use on other job/class was class was more open.
I guess have to wait on that part to find out; Like I know some mad about he curega being CON (that right?) specific imo once they add jobs WHM for example move curega to WHM and it makes more sense why Curega is only WHM (Job) specific instead of CON (Class).
If you want to level more than 1 crafter class , not only you have to pay , but you also have to redo all the sub crafts.

Complaining for the sake of complaining is bad.
But defending SE for the sake of defending SE is just as bad.

no offense mister rank 30lnc but if i want to hit max lv on one class, then instead of thinking i beat the game do it again on another craft that should be my choice, has nothing to do with antisocialism. has to do with wanting to always be progressing in game. being able to do a little more then others is a nice reward for it, and on top of that people who can throw money at it can still level more classes then one so that makes it a bad system, i can buy 2 account with extra 3bucks then it ok to level 2crafts? that is a wrong type of system to have.
You could not force people to play because the game sucks. HOWEVER if you take away one of the ONLY features that people liked in the game that is almost exclusive to Final fantasy MMos and its only good feature over the millions of other MMOS then you have a dead game.
Just look around people do not like this so im sure as SE tries to "make good" with its fanbase this feature will not happen.
To those talking about master crafters and such, only 1 craft can be mastered
chances are....they will add some sort of "specialization" or something around those lines that give you huge penalties if you dont have it, and youll be limited to get just the 1, but youll be able to craft to max level in every craft
so lets take an example of this
Blacksmithing may have a "weaponsmaster" trait that you can get, but if you get it, you can never get any other of these "master" traits from any other class.
And it may be a requirement to make items for the higher rank items. And while sure you can still rank up to top rank, you sure as hell cant make everything without the specialization(you may be stuck to parts only later without it)
i see them more going something along those lines as far as only mastering 1 craft late game, and i dont see them restricting the ability to level the actual classes
What does being social have to do anything to do with this?

You can be social and have a sense of self achievement as well.if i want to have 2 crafts leveled at max i should be able to w-o having to pay extra for it.
I dont see such a complex system ever happening.This is just going to be ffxi type of restriction.
i wish people would grow up and realize EVERYONE LEFT IN THIS GAME IS SOCIAL. i have a LS i have rank 50s. I WANT to level crafts so i can be MORE social. i can make money by fixing lots of peoples gears and make friends that way. (in fact thats what people do)
JUST because i can have more then one craft on rank 50 DOES NOT mean i dont need to be social WHY IS THAT SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND?

What if SE said "ok you can level only 1 DoW the rest you need a mule for at an extra 3 bucks a month".. sounds really stupid doesnt it? this is what you are saying.
my point was simple u gonna lv one class and u want every other crafter to come running to u for mats rather then being able to level a second class in the same time, other games people lv 2 toons for free to do both. your level has to do with how much time u put in and how much u obviously want from the game. your opinions are fine, but u ended your post with everyone that don't think like you should leave this game cause obviously your the sucker that Se an other mmo makers want money from and are creating there games for now. I doubt they are going to restrict you from levelling every craft to max, they'll find another way of impleting mastery either as a trait,talent or skill bought with guild marks that you can only have one of, although it sounds alot like the mastered craft will be able to do something the others wont e.g. make specific high end gears.

I'm just wondering if by Rank restrictions on abilities if they mean you can only equip abilities equal to, or less than, half your current classes rank. We shall see...

So jobs do learn their own skills, Thief is in the works, Arcanist and Musketeer will be coming out soonish (maybe by the end of the year?), materia seem to be good, and sneak skill for gatherers....
