Okay? Go complain about trolls in CT as well then, they're all over this game, nothing to do with hunts.
Are you joking? It really isn't as bad as you're claiming, yeah it's flawed, but it certainly isn't that bad.
Oh god, I can't take people bitching in shout chat! I'M LEAVING THIS GAME! Really...? Either you're lying or these people are just plain stupid, just don't look at the shout chat, plain and simple.
Or just go WHM, tag the mob with Aero or something, then Divine Seal/Presence of Mind and spam Cure II on yourself until the mob is dead. You'll probably end up tanking it and will get a decent amount if not full credit solo. Plus it helps the mob live longer in a small way.
i stand by the fact that i said people take hunts far more to heart than it needs to be.
if ppl are seriously leaving because of this i can't help but laugh.
i was doing botany, about 20 ppl came as ppl shouted and waited...
they started and it died in 5 seconds w/ just a few ppl...it needs a BIG hp booster
Balmung is fairly vocal in shout channel right now due to the hunts, where they weren't so much before, I'll grant that. However, Azury has a long history on these boards of very drawn out complaints that stem to be a tad more extreme than the average opinion, even for the server she plays on.
I certainly do not like the hunt system as it stands, but I have multiple reasons for that, rather than just the congestion. For me, it lacks most of the ideas that come to mind when referring to hunts in favor of the typical trappings of MMO 'open world' content, which, I have long stated on these boards, ends up being more toxic than its worth in the long haul.
All of the pratfalls we have encountered, I've cautioned against: Competition causing bad blood between players - the flooding demand for content and the innate inability for open world NM systems to accommodate it, the exploitation and outright cheating the system up to and including the use of third party tools, and the further wedge in the divide among the player-base. All of these are things I've been warning against since 1.0 days, and bemoaning since FFXI.
But there are other things that make these hunts not so engaging for me, mechanically. There's no chase, no trapping. Yes, the Hunt monsters themselves have somewhat unique fight mechanics to them (at least the S ranked ones.) However beyond the fight there are no behaviors unique to hunts other than spawn conditions and timers. I'd love to see a monster you'd have to chase to a specific spot to get to fight, or have to bait out to specific places for bonuses or to prevent specific kinds of damage. To me, part of hunting is the environment and right now there's no real environment-awareness in hunts.
However, my expectations of that changing are realistic, and I would be content with adjustments to better accommodate the congestion (such as force-poping methods).
In the end, I typically don't mind or begrudge Azury's outbursts. While I feel there needs to be better respect paid to the developers for the realities of running an MMO, especially for a Japaneese company, who's never experienced this level of success before in the field. (In contrast to Korean and North American MMOs which have had lots of experience in the field) I do feel that having outspoken opinions on such matters are a necessity for all MMOs. Though, having it all come from one voice does tend to discredit the poster over time - Boy who cried wolf and all.
And in this matter, I do agree with the base overall mood on this - Hunts still need a lot of work. I'm more than confident that SE developers are aware of this, however.
I'm sorry but I just did a S rank. my LS found it. We were there from the start. 5 seals (full party). All hitting it non stop entire fight from the start.
This system is a total joke. And incredibly unfair and luck-based.
I've done 5 or 6 S ranks, many of which my LS spawned today, and have yet to get full credit for any of them (always 30 or less), regardless of full party. Each fight mob kept disappearing.
It does need fixing, it is very frustrating. I feel as if a scaling system not unlike FFXI's ZNMs would have been far more successful. With the Daily hunts providing currency towards pops for higher ranking monsters and so forth.
At the very least, however, better scaling for reward of content really is a more immediate concern, barring all other adjustments.
Make the personal daily / weekly marks worth something - make the random marked mobs worth next to nothing.
Greetings!

Band-Aid fix on hunts didn't work
LGM Enkrateia
The mention of a bandaid fix and subsequent complaints just saddens me. Of course a bandaid fix is not going to do much. It all depends on how severe the problem is, where the source of it comes from, and what reason it exists. Why you would expect it to fix everything (or do much at all depending on the server) is beyond me. It's like getting a limb cut off and applying one of these onto it, thinking it'll get better...

The trend on balmung atm is that so many people show up to A or S ranks that they go invisible for -everyone- and people move forward to make them appear, assume they were agrod, and start the fight before more people show up
Let's talk about dumping as much of your paladin aggro combo as possible into the 30-second window an A-rank is alive and still getting 2 seals because 80 people aren't going to wait for the rest of your party (scouting other open windows) to show up.
Working as intended!
Without the ability to summon all your party members to your location, the increase to HP isn't going to do much. We've known this since release with Behemoth and Odin.
Please read, where the hell in my reply said MANDATORY LOL. I said "you better call for help" which is what the LIVE letter said, and below the translated Q&A.
You still think you don't have to be in a party for A and S rank? Yeah Yoshida did not say you absolutely have to if you have to be strictly anal on the words itself but it is a clear signal that you have to be in a party to down it and reap the intended rewards.Quote:
If you come across one of these more difficult marks, we hope you'll make use of the party finder or shout to enlist a few able-bodied adventurers to help.
Some of us in full parties aren't even getting full reward at times because either self entitled people like you pulls early when the mark could be shared by a larger community or there are simply too much people around. Hunters like us dedicate our time to comb areas and locate marks and share it around in FC/LS and shouting out the coordinates in shouts to share the mark to only have people like you who think it is fine to pull early and we are self entitled. Well if you found the mob and you'd like to pull it is fine, but if you pulled a mob other players shared then you are pretty much of an asshole which I hope you are not.
If you are doing Hunts as sidegrades then I don't think you can complain about sidegrade returns. You can never earn marks like the dedicated hunters do if you don't do it dedicated. It is not possible to not put in the same effort but expecting the same rewards, period.
Letter from the producer: Which reminds me, I know a lot of players have been concerned this will be like back in the day, where one player or party would claim an enemy, and lock everyone else out from getting a reward. You'll be happy to know that the Hunt was not designed with any such claiming system in mind. In fact, some of the elite marks are so powerful, it would be in your best interest to shout for help before trying to lay a hand on them. I've also heard the more elusive elite marks drop rare items as well. These rare items are distributed on a player-by-player basis, so don't hesitate to reach for a helping hand.
This is what I want. As for what kind of player I am? Read my first. As of today I don't do hunts. The only thing I do is what I always do when I see a player struggle with a monster be it Hunt, FATE, or other; drop some cure on them and take the adds. I'll leave hunts and the drama that comes with it to you dedicated hunters.
P.S. I wouldn't throw words like self entitled around then follow it up with a statement like this.
I don't think it's an issue though. Players not in a full party are only able to kill B rank hunts and even then it's likely some asshat of the horde will come over and deliberately reset the mob. Solo players will never be able to get full credits from A and S rank mobs due to lack of spawn locations and just not being able to generate enough enmity.
Organised groups and linkshells are mainly after A and S rank spawns and I find it pretty funny when hundreds of players show up at B rank hunts and get butthurt when a small group of players pulled before they arrive, all over 5 paltry seals. I mean looking from their point of view, they will never be able to get full credit if they waited, even if they were the ones who found it.
For the record, you were the one calling the other hunters being self entitled when they call you out for pulling early. Which again if u refer to the above, if you found the mob and u want to pull, fine by all means. But if you are not the finder and you pulled and you think that you are being called by people who you think self entitled, you are the one being self entitled.
And nope, the last statement is a fact that goes everywhere. If you don't put in time and effort to hunt, don't expect the kind of hundreds of seals the dedicated hunters get per day basis. If you don't but in dedication into raiding, don't expect clearing T9 before Patch 2.3 etc. Nothing to do with being self entitled or not.
Depends on the finder actually. If the finder wanted to share, then his/her wish should be respected. Of course not a lot of the hunter follows such ideal but for me and the handful of people I hunt with, I think we think the same way at least. Because getting 3 seals out of a max of 5 from a B rank is still.. some seals and myth at least I guess? And if the finder wanted to share with others but someone being a jerk and pulled, I think it is not too nice. And also if you are a private party during private hunts and pulled/sniped then I guess there isn't an argument either - but sometimes the sniper was found to be in a network of hunting LS and I guess people aren't too happy about it either. It is like you are benefiting from the LS but didn't return the favor and contribute back.
Oh yes I agree with you there definitely. Those people are called leechers and no better than those who afk in MD waiting for a report. And when they find spawns, they don't share and are pretty much jerks. My original point was more of casual players not in linkshells who are limited really to only B rank hunts. If they wait they would never be able to get anything.
Just did S rank in coerthas, was there 3 or 4 min. COULD NOT SEE THE MOB -ONCE-. Neither could half my party. While we were there pretty well from the start, we got 5 seals.

(-_- Strange feeling currently, Hunts released this way due to this.....
Seconded. According to patch notes, supposedly, S rank mobs were given display priority. This clearly did not work as intended. I realize it's peak time on a very crowded server (Hyperion), but we've had 5 S ranks pop in the last 2 hours, none of which anyone could see. It's very similar to Odin/Behe pre-patch, when it was impossible to heal OR attack. I've been spamming Medica and attacking in the rare event that I see the mob flash up, for 2+ minutes fighting over half its HP, and been rewarded for my efforts with anywhere from 0 to 5 seals.
Square-Enix casts Emergency Patch on Hunts.
Emergency Patch has no effect.
I saw Naul yesterday for the very first time. I was alone but there from the start and so were many others. I landed maybe 4-5 hits and received 1 seal, 3 Myth and 1 Strat for it. And to make it worse, it did not even count for the weekly hunt quest. So what gives? Do I need to be in a 8 men group all the time? Do I have to be "that guy" and start the fight with Triple Flare so I make good damage while others get no chance anymore? Not sure if I understand how SE wants this to work. It is fine that you have it easier in groups but it shouldn't be impossible if you are alone, especially if you are part of the fight from the start to the end.
I really don't think "you will need a party to successfully defeat these monsters" correlates strictly to "if 80 people gang up on this monster and paste it into the ground, you better be one of the lucky ones in a full 8-man party when the A-rank spawns and you're one of the ones to find it."
