Beastmaster.
Wildling. Something new (save for faint 1.0 mentions).
Or Berserker.
Anyone have any new or newly revised 'my version of <whatever class>' posts up?
All of mine are linked on pg5. Knight's new and Geomancer was revised recentlyish. Thinking about revising my Flayer idea a bit to include a 3rd branching job, the Morpher.
Haven't posted it yet but I have an idea for the future of SMN with the addition of the hybrid role and new Egi's. All the Egi's will need a niche so I figure it's a great way work in the new role. Also included a stance to give SMN's a gameplay choice: Play like it is now or pop a stance and dish out Enkindles left and right by comboing your summons (reminiscent to older FF titles' SMN). The combo system would work like this using the current elemental descriptions:
Context: Summons IV, V and VI are Leviathan (healer pet similar to Eos), Ramuh (offensive support pet (mainly DPS and stuns) and Shiva (defensive support pet, creates shields like SCH but without the heals) respectively.
"The spark of Lightning ignites when it strikes, and thus Fire is born."
-If Summon III is used while Ramuh is active Enkindle's recast/cooldown is reduced.
"The heat of Fire renders to ash all that it touches, and thus Earth is born."
-If Summon II is used while Ifrit is active Enkindle's recast/cooldown is reduced.
"The density of Earth shuns sun and harbors cold, and thus Ice is born."
-If Summon VI is used while Titan is active Enkindle's recast/cooldown is reduced.
"The armor of Ice melts away, and thus Water is born."
-If Summon IV is used while Shiva is active Enkindle's recast/cooldown is reduced.
"The moistness of Water mists and rises, and thus Wind is born."
-If Summon is used while Leviathan is active Enkindle's recast/cooldown is reduced.
"The gusts and sighs of Wind gather the clouds, and thus Lightning is born."
-If Summon V is used while Garuda is active Enkindle's recast/cooldown is reduced.
I've also been tinkering with a once-planned-for-1.0 class "Enforcer," (a club user):
Seeing if it's possible to have all roles come off of one job for a true full hybrid. Currently have it so the job that comes off of it is Sage. Enforcer/Sage are a support DPS by default specializing in group HP/MP restoring and battle raising.
It tanks by creating HP shields on itself with a combo and its stance creates a magicked earth shield in the off hand; instead of a PLD's cover it gains the ability to share its shield with others with the use of other abilities.
It heals by turning the DPS's MP restoral/tank's HP shield combo into direct healing; unsure if I want to keep them at a distance and make the attacks target friendly characters or have them in melee range and give the heals out by whacking mob.
Enforcer as a class gets skills such as:
Astra: Evade a debuff; healing stance turns it into an Esuna/Leeches.
Toad: Pacification.
Arise: Battle raise.
Reflex: Tentative evasion buff.
Drain: Damage and self heal.
Poison: Tentative DoT, thinking of linking it to Toad.
Sap: Tentative MP damage; healer gets a return in MP.
Shining Strike/Seraph Strike/Flash Nova: Light damage combo. DPS restores MP to party members. Tank creates HP shields. Healer uses them to heal.
Starlight/Moonlight: Allows the sharing of Shining combo's effects to another member/party respectively.
Brainshaker: Stun.
Skullbreaker: Lowers target's INT, tinkering with this one for additional stuff.
True Strike/Hexa Strike/Realmrazer: DPS main combo. Tank enmity combo. Unsure on healer usage atm.
Sage as a job gets skills such as:
Shieldbearer: Tanking stance. Creates a shield with stats based on your mainhand's iLVL.
Wisdom: Healing stance. Alters several abilities.
Curaga: AoE Heal with long recast. Not very effective on DPS or tank but can be used to help in a pinch. Very effective for healer.
Megaflare: AoE damage. The go-to for AoE hate for tanking, AoE damage for DPS and healer (akin to Holy).
Sagacity: Tinkering still. Thinking of making it a direct boost to all stats.
Haven't played around with traits yet.
Hybrid isn't something you can make a role out of. Hybrid would be like...I guess the best modern example is utility. SMN is a DPS job that can raise if needed, for example. Another example would be a something like RDM (if it were designed as a DPS with limited off-healing and debuffing). They'd still be confined within their role in the trinity but have things a MNK or DRG do not. The alternative would basically write a "don't take these jobs to anything remotely challenging" on said hybrids, because no one takes second-string tank/heals/DPS to things in an MMORPG.
I also don't understand the fixation some have with wanting to break from the trinity.
Still say what should have happened was:
Arcanist is split into 2 classes:
- Biomancer/Plague-bearer/Whatever: Gets all the disease-centric DoTs.
- Aethermaster/whatever: Gets partial summons (ala Keats from Folklore)
Biomancer branches into Necromancer and Scholar (with a plague-doctor motif)
Aethermaster branches into Summoner and Blue Mage.
Arcanist in its current form just feels like a weird mashup of 2 separate classes to me and doesn't really fit with its lore-based concept, IMO. :-/
Meh. Maybe they can revamp stuff and retcon it later.
Won't happen, but I can dream...~~~
DARK KNIGHT!!!!!
Either as a new class>job or a 2nd job for an existing class, tank or DPS, I don't care. Still my favorite Job from FFXI.
Machinist/Engineer.
New gun class! Imagine getting training from Cid or Biggs or Wedge. Perhaps even that gal, Jessie, who fixed the guns on your Magitek.

I really wanted ninja and they delivered already so I'm happy but I would love to see Samurai as a tanking class and Dark Knight. :D
http://gideonemery.yolasite.com/resources/balthier.jpgQuote:
Which class do you want added into the game the most?
I'd love to see.... Dark Knight, Red Mage, Geomancer, Blue Mage, Beastmaster, Time Mage, Evoker/Summoner (a real one, this "egi" crap ain't cutting it SE)... Corsair/Gambler would be interesting too.
Musketeer Class
Gunblade/Pirate Job
Sky-Pirate Storyline
That is all.
While I loved Red and Blue from XI.... Personally (and I think you can agree) they will likely water it down so much that it will just be a disappointment.
It isn't. People are mad they named it rogue instead of thief for lore purposes.
Same way everyone was completely OUTRAGED when they called it Paladin and not Knight... right? right? /sarcasm off
Dancer #1.
Samurai, blue mage, and red mage would be cool.
Beastmaster, or maybe now Huntsman. Prefer dual wielding axe badass tank/DPS.
Beastmaster^^
But let them call a beast for a few seconds, that will perform a move then vanish. Having a constant pet out is a bad idea imo, ppl whine about size, thus certain mobs may be off limits; however, a quick summon every now and then is better imo. That is just me.
In XI, there were a ton of monsters that were never released as jugs.
I would one day love to see BEAST MASTER please i miss it a lot i am having fun with other jobs i plan to work on i just wanna charm the mobs and poke things in the eye with them.;)
You can't ask someone who's been playing Final Fantasy for 23 years this question and expect just one answer. =P
As it stands: Red Mage / Dark Knight / Samurai. My initial answer would have been "Red Mage / Ninja" but Ninja's coming so....WINNER!
Dark Knight. It better use a great sword. It's all I want. Something... That uses a great sword. I also expect DRK's armor to look bad ass.
Except people aren't mad they named it rogue instead of thief. People want Thief as a Job, not a base class that gets forgotten. People are more mad because Yoshida is more or less saying "there will never be a Thief" for lore reasons that don't actually match the lore.
I understand people want Thief job but for getting angry at "lore reasons" but it just means people have poor reading comprehension. Rogue should be named Thief but due to lore reasons, it is currently named Rogue. So people shouldn't be angry at that, SE fully intended for Rogue to be Thief which probably means they have very little, to no plans to bringing in Thief job.
Basically, Rogue *should* be named Thief but lore happened and it's named Rogue. Thus, Thief should be a base class and Ninja the job, throwback to FFI. People angry at the base class relegation of Thief but if SE's view is to have it like FFI in that particular class/job relationship then that's how it's going to be.
It has nothing to do with lore reasons, don't try to insult us with that.
It's called disagreement. We don't agree with the reasons they provided.
I'm not going to discuss it further here as it's off-topic really, yet you seem to want to argue against anyone that says they want Thief, even in a thread specifically asking people what new Jobs they want.
I would like Thief to be added. I do not want Ninja, and will not take dumb excuses on why I should be forced to play ninja to enjoy Thief.
People didn't care for gladiator and lancer way back when, they wanted classic jobs. I want thief. I already butchered half of the 2nd cohort and looted their dead bodies. Looting from the living isn't the great moral quandary SE thinks it is.
You could absolutely do a very good RDM that would turn out much better than XI's RDM.
Outside of some interesting content you could solo, RDM in XI was just a buff bot in parties. Few people actually enjoy such a tedious and low skill position and it has absolutely no place whatsoever in FFXIV.
RDM would make an excellent support DPS job that fills the same role as a BRD does. It could be a melee/magic hybrid that mixes melee attacks and spell casts for optimal DPS. One of its core abilities would be Refresh, that would function such that it would be relatively interchangeable with a BRDs using mana song. IE: it couldn't be spammed, and using it would diminish the RDMs DPS in some way. This would be an excellent addition to the game because currently there isn't any other Job that fills the BRD role.
I've been looking forward to Musketeer, though I would love to see Rune Fencer, or a similar Great Sword class.
Housekeeper, level up by tending the garden and cleaning the stables
it's not called steal, it's called get a war's spoil. not the same, they are enemy that did try to kill you, your familly, the tree and even the mog!
anyway, just for saying Thief is as much important than ninja, actually you have more FF with ninja than thief. and for information in the first FF the thief was evolving into ninja, like it will be there
Paladin then dragoon.
I really wanted a Dark knight but that will be later.
Rogue is coming I am looking forward to that.
Samurai (TANK PLOX!), Fencer/Red Mage, Beastmaster, Geomancer, Dancer. Give me all the classes/jobs.
Samurai!! (tank or dps)
Viking (tank)
Berseker(tank)
Master (dps or tank)
Beastmaster (dps)
Dark knight (dps)
Time mage (support/healer)
Sage (healer)
Mime (hybrid)
just on the top of my head, so many interesting job they could add from the previous FF lore.
I'd also like them to come up with a FFXIV exclusive job(s)
I wanted THF to be included since new jobs were ever asked of this game. So really, it feels like a cop out.
And after a while it really does get boring seeing how the game falls short of delivering something when they asked for opinions.
In other words, settling for half delivered to nothing is really getting old.
I agree. I don't know why they even HAD an internal discussion about whether to have Thief or Rogue and they chose Rogue... Come on SE pull from your own lore. No other development company has internal discussions like this. I've never seen Ghostcrawler come out and say "After a heated internal debate we decided to call it something that is popular in other games instead of something from our own established lore" - it just never happened. This whole thing feels like they are trying once again to make it so unlike Final Fantasy that we will stop recognizing it.
It didn't work out well for you in 1.0. Stop trying to make this NOT Final Fantasy. We don't want to play WoW with the ROUGES.
im sure in the expasion they will add 2-3 classes, a mage for sure , red /blue/ green , time , geomancer , Samurai , Dark knight, ranger ,dancer, beastmaster :o
plenty of options to choose from :)
Samurai, i really want the ability to throw gil to deal damage too!
Ronin/Samurai added in as a DPS not a Tank
