I thought we were talking about new crafting gear, not crafted gear.
I thought we were talking about new crafting gear, not crafted gear.
idk about obviously, the pvp gear all has slots...except the accessories. So it's clear SE knows what happens with accessories; vit buffs. So it's entirely plausible they'll make crafted i90 accessories that don't have slots because they'd be more powerful. But the other side of the coin is they're completely worthless if they don't.
And no SE rep has come in here talking about crafting accessories, only a new (main but probably means offhand) tool.
You have an odd way of wording it then. From last page:
Crafter ilvl is only relevant to the point of being able to put Tier IV materia in it. It doesn't matter if our upgrade is an i55 or an i115, as long as it's an upgrade in stats.
People are able to distinguish between 2 trains of thought right?
Yeah that was the original conversation, then someone brought up the incoming crafted i90's that, confirmed or not, are pretty common knowledge there's at least a chance of, someone says they'd rather them not be meldable to avoid needing to re-penta meld things, I point out if they are slotless they're useless.
All caught up?
all of the sudden... Camate went silent. lol
Silent? Probably read our stuff and is seeking clarification from the guys who make the big bucks.
Not that it matters, but it's all there on the past few pages. People were talking about both kinds of jewelry. The DoW/DoM accessory recipes are more or less required to have any use for new crafting gear, while the person in question would like the new crafting gear to not require materia (if it's jewelry, or perhaps no matter what equipment slots they occupy). Pretty straight forward. Nobody wants to get [only] new recipes that are completely useless and any new gear that's added should ideally be like the artisan stuff -- cross class and no materia (for armor).
For this, eh, I hope he's at least double checking to make sure he was correct with his last post because it honestly makes very little sense. I haven't been crafting/ gathering for long, but I do have MIN done (more or less -- can mine whatever without food), BOT on it's way, and have been working on materia to get my crafters through some bottlenecks. I don't mind if I'm going to be replacing tool, headpiece and perhaps one or two more items with upgrades in the immediate future, but it would be quite annoying if I'm going to be grinding for a new primary tool only to be able to grind for a newer primary tool. I don't mind the silver brocades and such so much since my gatherers are leveled, but the vanya silks and the like are prohibitively expensive when talking about several crafting jobs.
Wasn't meaning to be snippish, just amazed at the number of responses which assume the Dev post is wrong just because people don't like the information it contained. Yoshi-P mentioned in one of the E3 interviews that there had been requests for crafters to be able to upgrade their blue tools in the same way that DoW classes upgrade their relic weapons and he said that they had something like that planned. Seems far more likely that this is it - rather than Camete mixing up primary tool and offhand.
Gah, can't add anything but I agree with the majority.
At least implement it in a way that makes going from tier to tier more sensible than just skipping all the way to top.
I'm disappointed in hearing that we're having an addition to primary tools. Even if it's a "relic" like quest to our i70 weapon. The rest of the crafter's gear is being ignored, especially the accessory part. They are in dire need of an upgrade considering it's our lowest ilvl gear + belt. They break a lot sooner than our AF gear.
If they do introduce another new MH tool again I will never go past 2 star until the level cap goes up. period. I just spent the better part of a week farming the HQ mats I need to do Gsm / Wvr / Ltw to 3 star (thank god I did as they would have cost over a mil each if I'd bought them). the only reason it was even that short is a friend of mine HQ'd the Twinthread and Truegold for me with NQ mats.
to do all that work and then have SE announce new tools already, might as well just kick me in the face.
Hell I am still waiting for an off hand for Fisher, ie: Tackle Box and they could atleast give us some ability that uses the gp we have no use for.
As much as I "enjoyed" the grind to getting all of my i70 Artisan's and Forager's Tools to even be able to touch the 3* synths and 2* unspoiled nodes, this better be a typo.... the amount of inventory space required to hold on to the damned DoH and DoL Artifact pieces is getting to be excessive when some of play more than a single DoW/DoM class on top of ALL of our DoH and DoLs.... I'd love to see some of the Artisan's and Forager's set BEFORE seeing a new i90 Main hand for them.... As many have said, its pure retardation to add new main hands to them 3 months after we JUST got a new set for them. But by the sounds of it, I might as well start saving up my gil for the most likely expensive run to get these new tools after 2.3 rolls through....
I have to really wonder though, is there any real, serious plan in mind for DoH and DoL? because its beginning to sound like a big fat NO!
You misunderstood. I was responding to someone asking for new crafting jewerly. Not new DoM/DoW crafted accessories they're adding in 2.3 (whether they're i90 or not).
If they add new crafting jewelry that has a single slot to meld, then all new recipes added are going to have requirements set with those crafting jewelry pieces max melded (or near max melded). Thus, I'd have to max meld the new stuff to stay up to date when I already have max melded crafting accessories. Not really something to look forward too.
Although, for that matter, I'm not really looking forward to pentamelding new sets of crafted i90 jewelry either (grumble, grumble, RNG). But it's good stuff so I'll probably do it.
I've only done one of the i70 main hands because the grind sucks, is expensive, and the stuff you currently make is not all that special. If they do it like the relic quests that means MORE grinding. That sounds terrible.
It's not necessarily that people are all assuming that the Dev post is wrong, for some people it's wishful thinking hoping that the dev post is wrong and any additional gear fills one of the other slots (and doesn't require another lengthy grind to get it).
... and Camate still went silent. lol
I'm definitely hoping there's some miscommunication going on and that we'll be looking at offhand + universal *insert left-side slot here*.
Hasn't anyone thought about a new "relic-like" primary tool that you get when you trade-in:
- i55 quested blue relic [ Tool ]
- i55 ground [ Tool ] of the Luminary
- i70 Artisan's [ Tool ]
Maybe this is it? Or just a main/off-hand mistake...
My thoughts exactly, could have quoted a bunch of people with the same thought. I'm behind, I know.
One thing that bugs me is as I obtain higher level crafting tools (whether the ones I have now or high level in the future), I think these tools should allow for those who have/use them, to auto-synth 1-Star items. None of us need HQ twin or hippo leather, etc., so it would sure be nice to auto-synth those items if we chose to.
well... I have no problem doing 1* manually, plus I can use it toward those HQ achievements. XD
What they said. We just got primary tools... I'm not grinding tools for all my craft jobs again every three months to make inferior gear that barely sells. This is similar to how I had to put the newest miner tool on my retainer (plus meld gear) just to do the high level explorations, and it returns with garbage. I'm not grinding another of those either. Cmon SE I hope that was a typo...
yep. ex-Sarg here. :D
Stayed like 3 months only. Moved because latency quite unbearable. But I would like to return if latency got better though. ^^;
Well, from the patch notes, looks like we will be getting new primary tools. Seems crazy...
yup. The tool names also signify greater version of original AF we got from final DoH quests.
I only have 2 DoH i70 tool left to grind. Now that this has been confirmed, I'm not even sure if I should continue finishing the sets :?
I'd imagine that this will be an upgrade to tools that involves some type of grind... I saw an item called "Antumbral Rock" (srsly screw you SE, HQ umbral rocks are bad enough to get 90 of). I don't think SE will make the AF and Forager's/Artisan's tools all for naught though, you probably need to trade them to an NPC, plus doing the grind for "Antumbral Rock" (or equivalent) and some sort of quest of course.
The recipes all are going to involve the things we just made for the Artisan recipes. Search through them you'll see things like Concentrated Spirits of Salt, or Reinforced Spruce Plywood. Descriptions also read things like "Two pieces of plywood put together."
So start prepping for the fact that we'll be having to make those 2 stars first all over again and then probably the recipe for the new ones will be 3 star and therefore require you to have the ilvl 70 weapons as is.
I'm spending the entire weekend gathering mats and making the gazillion rose gold nuggets, darksteel nuggets etc. so I have at least that step out of the way.
Well I'm sorry this personally seems like a kick to the face for those who did grind out the lvl 70 tools already. I mean ilvl75 Really? a +5 ilvl and what is probably an even more annoying grind quest, I'm not even sure I'm gonna bother finishing the crafting ones I was working on, much less start the new ones, as by the time I'm done they will doubtless be replaced again next patch.
if the Mining and Botany ones are half the grind they were for the first one just so you can harvest the new nodes. I cant understand why we couldn't just add a single crafting gear set for all jobs or even some decent accessories.
Observation from pre-patch note:
Shitloads of iL70 will be even more free with GC seal trades, therefore it further renders crafters useless, as now DoW/M has even less need for crafted items.
Guess: With new primary tool in hand, crafters will be able to craft more iL90 items with 100% HQ rotations.
jc
more important than the (probably marginal) stat increases that that new main hands will be giving us, I did see ilvl 55 Belts, Earrings and (possibly) a ring. Dodore Survival Belt anyone?
And they said they'd be raising the GP melding limits on ilvl 55 gatherer items, so I guess that'll help us get closer to the coveted 650 without needing expensive foods.
I'm guessing Dodore Belt, Dodore Choker, Dodore Ring and Mosshorn Earrings are iLevel 55 crafting gear. Seems noteworthy there is nothing for wrists - where we already have Militia Wristlets.
Dodore Ring is probably gatherer, actually... Aetheryte Rings are already 55, but Gatherers are stuck with <ilvl50. Only one ring, probably DoL.
like so many others, i'm frustrated by another main hand tool instead of an off hand one. i'm also concerned about a long grind for +5 ilvl. if i'm going to have 2 comparably ilvl tools, then i would like to have one heavily weighted towards craftsmanship and the other towards control. that way i would have some flexibility with melding gear and choosing the best tool for recipes...like ones that aren't hq craftable.
1 thing for sure: dev really ignored OP request. ^^;
So what's the deal with the new ilvl75 primary crafting tools? How do we go about beginning the quest or what do we have to undertake in order to receive them? Any info yet? I'm stuck at work for another few hours...
you just need to go to mor dhona, no quest that I can see.
gotten the same place as the now defunct i70 tools. you also get the masterworks book 2 there
