Don't you guys remember those threads here where people wanted open world events or bosses that has low drop rate of useful/valuable stuff like NMs in FFXI?
Yeah. This is a mild version of that, since everyone has a good chance of obtaining luck-based items, while in FFXI you needed to camp everyday with your ls and take months to actually get your drop.
Oh, the OP again...
Cool Story Bro

Guess you couldn't move on.
1 Book away from 2nd Animus and 3 Atma for 3rd Atma weapon while spiritbinding to meld onto Novus scrolls.
And I can only play a few hours a night except weekends.
Not really.
Minako simply called it like she saw it. Nothing wrong with that.
The casual gamers that care for top tier content will do whatever they can to obtain the gear that is necessary to tackle on top tier content.
lol yeah... -_- I remember those days... and those threads!
You madam/sir, get a cookie!
-hands Radkat a cookie- ^^
I started to grind ATMA with a BLM instead of my SMN. Maybe It's just a placebo but it looks like it is a bit easier. Anyway, I still need 5 atmas: I'll upgrade only my main (SMN) weapon and start farming leviathan ex as soon as I get good. At least, Primal Ex are challenging, while low level FATEs are just dumb and prevent new player to level their characters.
if it wasnt for atma people wouldnt be doing FATES at all, having lvl 50's around to help down FATES helps the new folks more than hurts them.
for what its worth tho, new players shouldnt be grinding fates to lvl up anyways. they should be learning how to properly play their jobs in group settings like dungeons or guildhests.
i was lucky , i got 12 atmas in 1 week and a half, i would not stop until i got at least 1 atma a day.
Use the clock theory its not proven but and ppl keep saying it BS but it workout for me.
There should be a way to guarantee an atma. Its a lot of luck based grinding with absolutely no reward.
Write a bug report or talk to the achievement npc in gridania. You should achieved the Paragon's Gown
Looks like I'm getting my ATMA every 80-100 fates. Every single of the 8 I have now, did drop in that bracket. Doesn't matter if I port out for a dungeon or to the market from the region I'm farming - as I stay in a region, until ATMA drops, then I move to the other. Longest part was Upper La Noscea, that demanded exactly 97 fates to be completed, and easiest was Central Thanalan with 81 fates.
I started farming on Saturday, 7th June, tried to play like for 1-2 hours duing a day. ANd have to admit I thought it will be worse. But it's kinda fun, you jump in, do fates, party or just talk with other players. Much more fun than standing in Mor Dhona and watching the /shout chat :)
reviving this thread on the OPs promise to post "proof" of having done 10k fates in 9 days
We all knew he was full of crap anyway, so hardly a surprise.
only reason i did it today was because of the other thread he made. it reminded me of this one. madruck already made himself look extremely bad, this is just more icing on the turd cake.
also, how do you make your achievments public? i been trying to for a while, and have no idea.

I guess I missed this gem the first time around... OP should have picked a more realistic number of FATES to lie about, then I'd only be very skeptical instead of easily dismissing him.
i wouldnt expect a reply from OP. he came complaining and expecting sympathy while telling lies, then when called out on said lies, defended himself by continuing to lie. should Madruck actually post anything that disproves the things that were said, people will be shocked.
I've got 11 of the 12 atmas so far, and have been tracking how many it took for each zone. I think I've been quite lucky, as my average for the 11 I have so far has been 34 FATEs/atma. The shortest was 5 (yay!) and the longest was 92 (ugh).
Now that I've said that, of course, my last one will probably take 300 FATES to get. ;)
Gogo get the last one!
I guess my average would be somewhat around 50ish Fates. I had some really fast ones where i got 1, switched zones and straight got the next one. Then i had some, which really took an assload of Fates. But yeah.. i lost track after i hit 3k Fates, before i was around 50 Fates average so i keep going with that. Currently at 76/120, so still a bit to go. ( yes, allready farming for ninja as well xD )
Same boat as you op, i have spent multiple hours every day since the update on atma.
Took me a month and a half for my Bard but has been almost 3 months for my blm and only have 6 stones.
Some of you stating Atma is not as bad as it seems, well let me guess you got your full weapon in a few days or a week?
Seriously people how to you figure it is not bad, it is evil rng
Also op check the stats on the soldiery weapon for your class as it may in fact be better then Animus/Novus and less of a pain to get
High Allagan is still the best weapon in game
My first Set of 12 Atma took around 2-3 Weeks.
I don't know, some people seem to have really bad luck, while i know people who got their full Set within a day. What i find interesting tho, i got ALL of my currently 76 Atma's out of Fates i did stay in and finished with Gold. Even if it possible to get them even from Silver and bronze, not being near the Fate Area and even from Fail Fates, that did not happen to me once. I did that quite often, when a couple fates where up at the same time, tagged some and then finished one and the one i got the atma from, was never Silver, was never Bronze, was never a Fail one and was never being outside. May there is a higher chance with Gold? Kind of like you get more mantles from Odin with Gold.
it is now the day of truth.
It is now July... Still waiting patiently :)
This should really be implemented as soon as possible since in this way the atma quest would have at least some kind of progress: for the time being, doing endless fates in order to drop atmas and dealing with the RNG of this game in general just feels like a complete waste of time and it's one of the reasons why me and many other people stopped renewing the subscription.
#1-#11 - average 3 hours per atma
#12 - over 24 hours "archer"
OP I understand your pain, wish I could help :X
At this point, if I were you, I'd either quit the game from frustration, or in my case, because I really like the game (or other aspects of it), I'd drop hunting for this weapon until its nerfed (and it will, because I don't see this same requirment in 1 year when we will have Super Novus Atma Multiple Power Thyrus out :D) And go for another weapon until then.
Wish you good luck!
I had under 200 fates when I started atma. when I finished atma phase I had 1245. Seven of my atma where obtained between 1000-1245 fates. 300 fates later 0 alexandrite. One of my FC mates. Start atma at around 800 fates. Finished around 1300(500), and then within 200 more fates got 7 alexandrite. An ok tank got all 12 atma in 8 hours, the first day. While RNG is ok and great. Their should always be some kind of clause that prevents this large of a discrepancy. Players who fit in the extremely above avg section(like my fc mate) don't believe other people, who spend all this time for nothing unless they see it. I mean there are people in this thread who don't believe you can break 800 fates and not get all 12 atma and I was at 800 fates and only 4 atma, I know people at 1k+ fates with 1-2 atma. I also know people with 400 fates and all 12 atma. It shows nothing to a players skill, dedication, or anything. It's just here something to keep you busy,
Oh yeah reckoning day!
Since the OP created his thread i farmed my last 3 atma and did seven books to get my animus sword. Working on my 8th book for my shield right meow.
Here's my problem with using hard numbers. Up to 3000 fates, we can see when you hit certain milestones. Don't take this as
me calling you a lair. I am not. But if you post hard numbers you should have your achievements made public. It just lends creditability to
your statement. In your case, you would have 2 fate achievements since the patch that brought Atma weapons in the game. Having this info
we give light to how long it takes to get an atma, However it wouldn't be a true picture, just a general idea.
to all my knowledge my achievements are publicly viewable, since I thought any would be able to go and check, so I would gladly open those up if you could tell me how.. The amount of time to finish the number of fates is all up to the person and server, i'm not saying the OP's number's are believable, I'm just saying that to allow some people to finish 3x atma weapons in the the same number of fates it takes someone else to get all 12 is a bit extreme and there should be some kind of balance in place. IE every 200 fates in a row without an atma you can go get a random free one, of any of the 12 meaning you could get one you already have. This at least gives players an incentive to continue to work on the weapon, and helps create balance with those that got all 12 in less then 600 fates(as they would never be able to use the feature).
Wish I could, but I got my Atma weapon on the first weekend of 2.1 and didn't record anything...
Even with my good luck I still spent 9hrs straight in Central Thanalan before I got my drop. In my video you would have seen me group with 57 different people who all got their Atma from C. Than before me. I was almost about to give up at 4am, and I finally got it. I think I screamed in /shout for C. Than to do indescribable things to itself...
But no one heard me. They had already gotten their atma ;-;
OP your luck REALLY sucks. Or the RNG gods hate you for your past deeds.
But to share my own observations.
IMO the zone swapping/time/etc is all a bunch of BS and does nothing but give people the false sense of control.
In my experience you should average about 1 atma every 40-50 fates.
Myself and 2 other FC members started farming atma on the 5th or 6th of June (I started a tracking grid on our forums on the 7th... and that was only a day or 2 after we actually started)
Since then I personally have done about 900 fates. One of the other guys has done prolly around 750 (a couple days at 1st I was in the right mood to sit and do FATES for hours). The 3rd guy was late to the party so I'd say hes done around 400-500 fates.
So between the 3 of us we have done ~2000 fates
Total atma count = 67.
For the record a VAST majority of these have been done while mostly afk. We sit in vent chat play other games and have FFXIV up in the background sitting in 1 fate. Have "play sounds in background" option checked and we can hear when the fate spawns. We tab in tag the fate and let our chocobos and pets do 90% of the work (we play sch/sch/smn for this so the double eos keep us alive and the garuda helps dps). Tab in 3-4 times throughout the next 10 minutes to hit a macro that casts all our dots on our target.
Just to be transparent. I'm saying "about" because I'm not home right not to look at my achievement for the exact number. But I started at right about 1400 and yesterday when I checked I was somewhere in the 2300s (we all put out fate count in our comment on vent at the start of the day to see how many we do. Average is around 25-30 for most fates. And around 60-70 for "quest fates".. the CT fates, and in particular the southern thanalan one, are AMAZING for this)
I came up with a thread about how stuff like atma in the future should be purchase-able from a large exp-currency system. Like bonus levels past cap can be used for atma stones. So you are always making progress by just playing since its casual anyway.
I posted how to make achievements viewable earlier in this thread. for myself it took me the better part of a month to get my atma weapon.
BUT, I only did maybe 3 big fate grinds. the rest of the time I spent no more than an hour and a half on any given attempt to farm atma.
The most atma's I gained in any one attempt is 3. I also had back to back atma's of the same type twice. I think maiden and archer.
The major point I'd like to make is that this grind is what you make it out to be. If you look at when I got the tier 4 fate achievement and
when I got my first animus, which was the shield, it was like 23 days. In 41 days from the patch I did between 12 and 700 fates. there's no way for me
to know for sure. Assuming all fates lasted the full time, that would mean I spent 175 hours farming at an avg of 4.26 hours a day doing it.
4.26 is damn near my regular play time average.
This is also nowhere near how much time I put in. It was around 1.5 hours a day on farming and probably 450 fates total which the largest portion of that spent in
C. Thal where it took me a good 17 hours to get that one atma.
