Uh oh hopefully they make crysta cards or something.. This is how my significant other keeps his account afloat.

Is there still no answer from SE concerning this issue? Fantasia got immediate attention. Probably because it was a cash shop item that would bring in revenue. Game Cards are an investment expenditure / advertisement agent. I'm not so sure anymore that I care. Between this issue and lag I am starting to think it's time to go. I don't really feel like struggling thru lag to play a game I don't even know if I can keep because my only desired payment plan is now gone. Cya all.

its funny because you would think since this does effect their revenue they would have some response.
Square Enix Crysta cards please. some of us want them while others need them.

Worried about this too, CCs and I have a bad relationship when it comes to online transactions and Ultimate Game Cards have been my primary way of paying my subscription

Yup I use UGC because when I did my SE account when I downloaded the game I messed up and put USA in instead of Canada. When I tried to hook my debit/cc up for my sub it wouldn't let me because it was a Canadian card.

I talked to a CS person and they said that my only recourse was to use UGC for crysta or delete my account and start all over again.

Please fix this SE as I rather enjoy this game and the people I play with. I want to give you my money....why won't you take my money!.... 'Shut up and take my money' ;)

Game Cards are not the type of thing that can be done overnight I went through this exact same problem with Perfect World International years ago. By the time PWI got cards on the store shelves I had already moved on to playing other games. Even if SE responds to this yesterday it takes time to establish store acceptance and distribution routes. This is a game for the ps3 and ps4 so they would not get rejected; less popular companies sell game cards. Game Cards are advertising but I doubt SE even has an advertising department. They seem to like to skip it to save a few bucks and go on word of mouth. Just speculating and keeping the thread alive.

Playspan/UltimatePay probably dropped the bomb on their merchants when they did it to us just making things worse all around
still hoping for SE Crysta Cards

Question: Does this affect payment through Paypal via UltimatePay, or does this only pertain to the cards themselves?

Because if I can't pay with paypal, I'm kinda dead in the water in three months.

its the cards and ultimate points. if you just use it to pay with paypal(if you don't have issues with it) you shouldn't notice a difference.

Offgamers(you know something is up when a site like this is now suggesting alternatives) is now suggesting alternate cards on their UGC page such as Rixty and GoCash cards. which support most of the same games as UGC. and they also have the image below up
too bad SE doesn't currently support those cards as I suspect they would be good replacements

their date is a bit ahead since you have till the end of september to cash in the cards and the end of october to use any remaining ultimate point balance but I do understand their desire to urge their customers to take action
also a large trusted worldwide company such as Offgamers would be a good place to start putting the SE crysta cards(if they make them) in the hands of gamers

Unfortunately, OffGamers is also an offloading place for RMT sellers. :(

My sub ran out today. I used up my crysta to continue sub and tried adding a little bit more crysta for the next sub with plain credit card and ultimate playspan (credit card) and both of my visa credit card are rejected. 2 options, 2 credit cards, all rejected with error 401.

I dont know what to do anymore.

Edit: something just occured to me, if players are forced to pay for subscription through game time cards and not crysta cards, they can't pay for extra options such as fantasia and extra retainer service. So...crysta card, where?

Edit: I got myself another ultimate game card to add in more points after I tried the credit cards just now. The card was bought from an online vendor I usually buy my ultimate game cards for my previous sub payments. It got rejected. I think my account is being locked billing wise due to the failed CC payment attempts. I've heard people say that I'm invisibly locked out of it for a month and every time I try again while being locked (which will give me an error again), the invisible lock will be reset again. Is this true? Do I really have to wait 1 month? This is crazy.

goodness I hope not. I suggest you create a ticket for this over on their help site.

SE really you need to do something about your billing. you have too many credit cards that are perfectly good being rejected. it's disheartening

Not a ticket, they use live chat for these issues, but they should solve it fast.

bumping in hopes now that the E3 is over we might get an answer.
are SE Crysta cards planned? <---this would be a lot more welcome than the time cards.
perhaps have FFXI and FFXIV all over the cards
or call them Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Crysta cards.

or you could change the way the current cards work so they can be used to exchange for 3000 crysta or 60 days time.

Not sure about their business hours, but last time I had a billing related question/issue they closed my ticket and got asked to use live chat instead.

I never understood the point of crysta and if you're so adamant about not using a credit card then why not just buy a time card?

Because for some people (like myself) stores around here don't sell SE's time cards for final fantasy. Was-Mart, target, game Stop; nothing sells them besides Ultimate game cards :/

1. some of us still play FFXI as well as FFXIV and prefer to have crysta on our accounts. you can't use those time cards to pay for FFXI
2. some of us have Legacy status $30 would get us 3 months of time with Crysta but not those cards
3. you cannot use those time cards to pay for extra features such as extra retainers or fantasia

Sucks to be you I guess? I was just in gamestop yesterday and they had a whole stack of them.

So I just got off customer support. They told me that they couldnt remove the billing lock they put on me for trying with a non american credit card. They said to me that the IP address and the credit card need to belong to the region the account belongs to (so wait, only americans, europeans and japan are allowed to pay with credit cards?).

But here's the kicker: they told me that for every rejection, they invisibly lock your account, billing wise, for one day. Extra errors and rejection will add one more day (it stacks) but they wont tell you that. So if you try your credit card and then square rejects it, they will lock your account for one day (but not tell you). You won't know it and you will try again right after that error...and you get 2 day lock. Tried 4 times in 5 minutes? You got locked for 5 days without even knowing the lock even exists. I must have tried like 8 times or something.

This is amazingly baffling.

There are some that simply can't use a CC as an option. There are those that don't want to use one for various reasons, and for them they are valid enough reasons not to use them. For instance, some may still have a bad taste in their mouth from the C&B fiasco, and simply don't trust the site(s) involved.

Such people have been using a viable, alternative way to pay to play that they were comfortable with. That option may now be taken away, with no solutions offered from SE. They have every right to complain/ask for communication from SE as they have yet to see a way they can comfortably continue to pay to play a game in which they have already invested a lot of time/money.

Some people also have credit cards that aren't accepted for arbitrary reasons and return an error on the Mogstation.

Guess SE would help terminate my sub. I've no problems using credit card on other e commerce sites, but SE refuses to take my money. I circumvented this through UGC. If they go down, I lose my only way to resub.

Not sure if this is possible or has additional fees but, have you tried linking your CC with paypal and using paypal instead?

Depending on all factors involved, you can incur some processing fees when you sling shot like that. Was one of the big problems with C&B--a lot of people were getting hit with international exchange fees or other such transfer fees from their banks.

The UGC/Crysta system was for some the ONLY way for them to pay exactly what they needed in order to play. If that is going away, SE needs to offer a comparable alternative or they may lose customers.

Yes, the same checks that failed via credit card will fail again via PayPal. My payment through PayPal always transact as if it's OK, only to be hit with a transaction denied by SE, followed by a refund.

I've got the moola but SE doesn't like it. Even using UGC is a chore. I've got to buy the codes, make a failed transaction on mog station and inform UGC of the transaction reference for them to manually credit my crysta balance. I like this game and I'm already jumping through hoops with UGC. I think this is it once UGC goes down

SE doesn't care enough about the small percentage of players in similar bind.

That sounds like a US problem. I'm paying to an EU account using an Asian card.

I remember reading somewhere once that the problem was the stringent anti-fraud checks or something.

You've already tried to call the time card an alternative and it has already been explained why it doesn't work for some, as well as your fall back to "so use a credit card.". I don't understand why you seem so adamant about pushing alternatives that don't work for everyone, and even repeating yourself after having people explain to you why your stated options don't work for everyone.

I've been using UGC for years as well, it's simply the most hassle free way to pay only and exactly what you need to pay.

There is no "doesn't work." Time card is a time card. Grow a pair and use paypal or use a CC for FFXI. The only real "issue" was the one guy trying to use a CC outside of his region, which at that point should be 100% flagged as that can be considered a fraudulent purchase.

how about you actually read the reasons people don't want to use time cards before posting it again
those time cards grant 60 days period and only to FFXIV regardless of your status. that means $30 for 60 days even if you have Legacy status which for a legacy user is under that price for 90 days
they do not allow you to use extra services(this includes the extra retainers) nor FFXI
also telling people to grow a pair and use paypal or a CC when they already explained why they can't really shows you're not reading the posts

you should also go read the threads elsewhere about billing. lots of people are trying to use CCs within their own regions are getting rejected and or flagged. do not pretend you know what is going on. obviously you do not
