SE gave away all my cool 1.0 stuff!

I am waiting for SE to bring back Lady Yukata costume.
Seasonal are things that repeat every year, so I don't know why players would think the items would be unique and not available later on, unless it's specifically mention that it is limited, even limited can be something that is limited for a set amount of time and not forever. If it's something nice, I think it will be great for new players to be able to get it later on.

I can understand SE re-releasing 1.0 seasonal items in 2.0 which they have for the most part cause an lot of people missed out on the stuff in 1.0 giving people a 2nd chance to grab them but to keep giving them every single year really ruins them. It's like SE gave them out in 1.0 you missed it fine they gave you another chance and you miss it again, then tough your loss.
(example.. me and 5 other people have this really cool hamster outfit, the following year it's re-released now 50 people have it then 500, 1000.... sigh look at me imma a clone everyone looks like hamsters)
You do not need to keep re-releasing the same items every season, change them up, something new each season.

While I'm totally fine with seasonal items being available to the masses I don't really think it's fair to call people selfish for to keep certain things Legacy only.
At the end, they where presented as a sort of thank you gift for supporting the game during its most trying time, so I understand why it can feel unjust to some when they're just cheaply given away like that to everyone.

seasonal items were never meant to be rare. Even in FFXI seasonal items from past years were released again.

I think people are calling ones selfish that are mad at the fact that the devs release a mount that is some-what the same to the mount the legacy players have.

In this case I agree with them 100%. It is not the same mount, but a mount with different graphics that looks some-what the same as the legacy mount. No one is going to mistake the legacy mount with the newer mount.

There is a link at the 1st or 2nd page i think to the statement SE made about it. They said that those items would not be available to be gained in ARR.

Its a list of discontinued content. If you noticed it has a list of the old Seasonal quests as those quests are discontinued, however the items are available when the new seasonal quests come out. So based on past practice since launch, I would think the Yukata would be made available during an upcoming summer event.

As for the reps statement. I can honestly say that I have not seen many asking for old items brought back. I think it was just a lazy way for them not to have to create new items.

Seeing as in many ways the game started over as a new game with 2.0 launch, it's appropriate for everyone to have a chance to get a lot of the old vanity items (come on, moon earrings that I missed first time around!). However, once the old items have been released in this game, I don't think they should come back again. I've always used seasonal items as a sort of calendar, where they refer to specific years. "Oh, I remember the event that gave that hat! That was fun! Did you do the one the next year with the blue guys?" It's a good way to show you actually played at the time and to talk about the way the game was then. As such, once the players of this game have had a chance to get on the same page as the players from the old game, then they shouldn't really come back. They should be fun collectibles that not everyone can buy a stack of for 100 gil the next year.

i do love how the topic creator is complaining about not being unique due to sessional gear forgetting that meny sessional gear hasn't been given to 2.0 players yet as well as unique reward items from 1.0 AND you have both the legacy goobue and chocobo that any player who wasn't in 1.23e wouldn't get, as well as a unique legacy tattoo on your characters back marking you as different from everyone else, to be fair with anyone who is a legacy player having items from 1.0 that is unobtainable in 2.0 is a unique item that we will never gain, so you can flaunt that off, if your annoyed a sessional item was reused because its sessional (think christmas trees that have been used for nearly a mellenia) makes no sense sessional symbolagy would use such as a way to recognise the holiday, it is similar to saying last x-mss we had a santa hat and outfit this year we will never have santa hat or outfit ever again and must be dressed as a cracker the year after that no more crackers ever only trees

i'd like to know about those Hermes shoes i have been hearing about. I was a FFXI player before, played for a while on FFXIV during 1.0, but never seen anything to that extent. Both service accounts were on the same SE account, so i dont know what i could have missed...

I'm not a "Legacy" player per say, but from what i read, all you needed was to have the accounts linked. Was there something special that needed to be done beyond having both on the same account?

Many players asked for dated items to be made available as well as seasonal items, mostly for vanity purposes.

I'm not going to argue about seasonal items/content as I agree since launch they have been rather lackluster.

Changing their decision on seasonal items seems rather minuscule. I do feel the Goobue mount with minor changes has more bearing for those complaining.

Just understand I am happy with the legacy chocobo, tattoo, 1.0 preorder/CE items and getting the upgrades to 2.0CE as well.

There has to be a limit though from both sides, player and Dev regarding collectibles in general or they lose their worth or point.

You needed to have an active FFXI content ID that you were paying for, during a specific event period I think.

Also they are character specific unlike most special items. Even though I have them on my character, new characters I make don't get them, same as the Goobbue mount. I only have them because I imported from 1.0 and got them off the calamity salvager.

Also since there was no mailbox in 1.0 all special items could only be received at the time of character creation (except the goobbue, which was a quest reward). So if you linked your FFXI thing and paid for it after making your 1.0 FFXIV character you would have had to make a new character to receive them.

Hermes' Shoes was awarded to players that had both active FFXI and FFXIV accounts, for a limited time. They currently give you the ability to have a constant Sprint up while in cities.

Just to clarify, the onion helm was the only 1.0 CE virtual item reward. For some reason though, a lot of people mix it up with the peregrine helm. Granted, one's a recolour of the other, but the perry was bought by trading in 30(?) crystals gained from normal game play to an NPC in Grid. The non helm parts of the onion set could be earned as random rewards for faction leves (a type of leve that doesn't exist anymore) but the onion helm was the 1.0 CE item and could not be received any other way in game.

I think the Asuran Armguards were the item code that was supposed to come with the Standard Edition of the game, though no one here in Australia seemed to know anything about them when I bought my CE (I tend to chat when I buy games so I talked with the EB Games guys about the SE even though I wasn't buying it) so I'm wondering if only some were able to get them...

Anyone know what the Eorzean Bliaud is or where it came from though? I don't remember that o.o

The Asuran Armguards are from the first wave of XIII when you used the pre-register code for the XIV 1.0 PS3 Beta (that never happened). You could still get the armguards after that fact, though, by proving you registered and jumping support ticket hurdles because by the time there was a PS3 Beta it was long after they removed the XIII registration site. Best arm gear in the game till level 15 they are.

Onion gear you can get from retainer venture if you are lucky. You can als get a Red Onion Helm (was Aurun Vale drop during 1.0) from Retainer or buy it in the MB if someone sell one he get from his retainer

I always found it interesting that the majority of MMO players will be borderline hostile to a player who wishes for more exclusive/unique items that are no longer obtainable. They sarcastically call them names like "special snowflake" and "selfish" for wanting things to be no longer obtainable and special.

Once everyone has those unique items, they are no longer unique.

Will I ever get those cool 1.0 items? No, absolutely not...and I'm ok with it. They did something to obtain the items I did not manage to get, and they deserve having it in my eyes. Cool new items and opportunities will present themselves down the road so that *I* can have my chance to earn something cool, so that they can keep the uniqueness of the items they had back when it was their turn.

Plus there are so many items that are currently accessible to everyone without those 1.0 items. We can't reasonably have them all, right?

I will also throw out there that I think re-releasing seasonal gear is fine due to the limited time window that it is obtainable, as long as they release new gear as well!

other people mentioned the other stuff... but the "Rings of the Twelve" came from the End of the Era quest line that had you use the brand new (at the time) pray emote at the various Stones bearing the marks of the twelve (which if you know were to look, several are still in the game), the player would recieve a ring matching their Guardian deity when they prayed at the matching stone, getting all twelve netted the Dalamud Horn.

This is actually incorrect - I started in 1.0 three months after launch and I never received a ring for my guardian (there was a buff though called 'Guardian's Blessing' you could evoke when doing a levequest).

The Guardian Ring was actually made available only towards the end of the game's life during the Seventh Umbral Era storyline quest 'Living on a Prayer', where you had to go and visit each of the 'Deity stones' and pray to them. When you prayed at the stone corresponding to your guardian, that was when you got the ring. So yeah, not all 1.0 players would have received this ring, given many abandoned the game long before then.

EDIT: Pandastirfry beat me to it. :p

Dated Items are something I am pretty sure will never come back. So, if you thought ahead back in V1, you too, can be an armour-plated mage.
