Extreme Garuda MELEE Woes

Hmmm on my server, they're doing:

MT 11 o'clock - Garuda
OT 1 o'clock - Suparna
Others 7 o'clock - Chirada

And yeah, I'd only ever done the MT Garuda + Suparna method before. I tried the 3-way method, and was pleasantly surprised when I found out that Garuda and Suparna swapped positions (and tank aggro).

Lot of people on Ultros seem very afraid to try the method on the video in the Wiki section of this fight, which involves Suparna dying first and being tanked away from the other two. I can't believe how many people quit out of my party when they become even slightly distressed We had two teams ready in the fight.... and people just seriously cannot comprehend things. It's sad really how ignorant people are.

I do wonder whats the point in killing Suparna first.
Chirada is way safer and it's easy enough to survive the double wheel as tank...

Because if there's melee they have to get in range of Garuda + Suprana to attack, and the Wicked Wheels hurt.

Honestly, since Phase 3 isn't too dangerous, I don't see what's wrong with just letting Suprana live and using stuff like Succor + Sacred soil to absorb the stronger Mistral Shriek that results from Suprana not dying fast enough in Phase 4. Phase 3 is easy and forgiving enough to let the healers recover the party damage a lot, especially if it's a WHM + SCH.

Kill 1, use Jump/Shoulder on the other, done

Melee is no different than ranged in this fight, it simply requires the melee know how to move. People autoleave because the majority of the community shows they don't know how.

Square Enix's design is fine, I just guess they didn't expect people to have that much trouble with such a simple concept.

Agreed. I pop keen flurry and jump in and I have no issues. I guess is that they've seen melee dying often and they don't want to take a chance.

Then the tanks do it obviously wrong, once chirada is death you don't jump into garuda + suparna but the off tank is suppose to grab Suparna and seperate her from Garuda so the melees can do safe DPS.
That way melees don't have to worry about even needing to dodge the wheel once. it's a win win.
In the last phase, you do the same but the off tank provokes Garuda while the melees jump to suparna.

If you kill Suparna first you don't have to deal with Garuda and Suparna switching places and double WWing the tank. That said, I really think it's intended that you tank Suparna and Garuda separately and kill Chiarda first. The mechanics seem to be set up to be easier, but more involved for the tanks if you do the fight this way.

Even a new tank should see the dead giveaway that they gonna do a double wheel though.
They disappear for a short time, cast friction and double wheel this is the only time in the whole fight where you need to use your def cooldowns you won't even drop 50% so I see no reason to give melee more trouble than it's worth just because the tank is a chicken.

Ranged kill suparna while melee kill chirada... It's very simple. Why do people not do this?

Don't even have to. I usually go DRG on Garuda Ex, if i am not tanking and after Chi is dead you wait for Friction > Double WW > then you can jump over. If you have a good Tank he even can position Sup at the outer Line of the inner Tornado and as Melee you can go after Friction on the outer Edge into the small Pockets to avoid WW.

If you ask SE for fixing it, we will get what we had in 1.0 and Garuda. Gimping of Ranged DPS, so you are forced to take Melees with you. Can't wait for that and all the complain-threads. :rolleyes:

This also works.

The problem the OP is facing, is the lack of skill from the general player base that uses melee classes. So when they keep seeing those derpgoons getting owned by wicked wheels over and over, eventually those tanks just assume melee will be a burden. All the ex primals aren't hard for melee DPS at all, it just requires knowledge of your class and the fight. After dealing with so many bad melee DPS, tanks probably join a group and see melee as a needle in a haystack and they don't want to waste time seeing if they found that rare gem melee dps.

People in this MMO need to open their minds. Because the FC that carries you to everything said this is how it's done doesn't mean shit in the world of tactics and strategy. This MMO is banking on a weak playerbase though I still mostly love it. Too many crutch players in this game unwilling to try things new. I don't always have the time to play with FC. I like to play with decent randoms. But it's becoming a chore.

I mean, I spend 5 minutes or more explaining the match and I swear to fucking the god the tank still goes for charuda first even though we have all ranged. It's obnoxious when you are a moron tank without the ability to properly realize what and the hell is possible with this fight.

Sorry, but the reason this fight is failing is squarely on the tanks.

Now this isn't saying there are not some excellent tanks out there. There are many. But there is a horde of idiots out there running the class as well at this point.
