Sorry, should we get a bad game only because people can't manage to presso buttons in correct order?
No.
Good luck with your journey, I'm happy with hard content and I'm happy being stuck with it when it's hard. Have fun with your next pay2win.

Bout time! Needed that! Thnx YP!
I don't see this as much of a problem.
Once the level cap increases it'll be probably like on WoW anyway. Item levels are making progression so wonky that once you start wearing stuff with lv.51 level requirement you'll be having like... HQ white items at item level 100+ or something if this is the case. Pure speculation, but I'm pretty sure level cap increase will change the difficulty of any "extreme" content drastically alongside manual changes.
Let's throw out labels, its fun! Anyone who has cleared Titan HM and heck, 1-4 turns of coil, you are now a elitist and have no life!
The fact that you did all this by playing one day a week doesn't matter. Clearly you should be spending that 4hrs you spent on that one day doing something other than playing a "dumb" video game. Just because this is coming from someone who also plays said "dumb" game and is posted on a video game forums gives you no reason to not take me seriously!
Also, I will demand college professors dumb down my test, because I don't think I should have to study. If he doesn't he is a elitist! Just because he had to study to become a professor doesn't mean I should have to! He has no life, clearly!
Hey I go to school to have fun, why should it be hard?
I mean, seriously? There are lots of games that require SOME effort. Are you going to abolish rubix cubes too? (I hated those anyway, go ahead I dont mind)
After you put in hours and hours of practice, you damn better clear it in one hour each week.
Most people can't put in that much practice.
Unless you're telling me you're so pro you down the first 4 turns on your first try. Then maybe Freyane's words hit right in the weak spot, triggering the "get out of my game, baddie" response.
No, this isn't a troll as a few of you said, look at FFXI in comparison to me my point...
As released the main story ended at Shadow Lord, doable by 'competent' players, rather than needing to be highly skilled, and only needing AF. When Zilart came out and extended the story, did IT require hugely higher gear and skill than was needed so far? NO IT DID NOT.
The rest of the main story missions were all doable without any huge increase in gearing and again, large numbers of players were able to do it all.
In FFXIV SE have abandoned that, they've adopted the attitude only hardcore/highly skilled players will be able to progress the core content beyond 2.0.
Most of you deriding my comments are also those who prattle on about 'bad PUGs' and laugh in your FCs about 'badz', fact is 'badz' generally are simply players not as skilled as you and this game has ceased to be something such players have a hope in Hell of continuing with.
All content that is hard now will get nerfed later so that anyone will be able to get past it.
Everyone will be able to see the whole story, but people who are skilled just get to see it earlier than the rest ;) seems like a fair reward.
I was always under the assumption that the primal HMs were part of the story anyways, Iwould not imagine SE making the relic quest require you to do the Extreme battles, they are are there to challgenge you further and you will need that relic+the skill to take on these tough encounters. Don't know where the extreme modes fit into the story though, I think we need a beastman extermination before we get ultra mega hyper you are not going to win this hard mode.

These are optional fights, the extreme fights are AFTER you beat Titan Hard-Mode which unlocks The Binding Coil of Bahamut.
Think of the extreme fights as a fun extra/bonus for a challenge, not as serious in-game canon "I'll be missing out on lore with this".
Good. Casuals do not deserve to see all content.
well I rather spend more time gearing up and becoming more skilled instead of beating the game with ease...
The only difference with "hardcore" players is they know when to dodge, how to dodge, and where to dodge.
Haha.. challenges are to be expected and before launch Yoshi did promise an equally challenging end game as FFXI.
Several month process to earn top tier. Challenge accepted. At the same time the game is VERY casual friendly.. Doesn't take long to get as geared as "hardcore" players.

Spoiler: Stop posting
Damn, being expected to have middle level gear and dodge AOEs, how pretentious of them.
They should instantly give you all rewards and put you in a new hall of fame, you're such a deserving guy, do not let anyone tell you otherwise.
Ban hardcores, let the revolution begin.
Also, I want pizza.
oh thank god finally something challenging.... i hope its as hard as 1.0 EM. The casuals crying will satisfy me.
with the duty finder roulette bonuses now, you get 300 Philo for a main Story Roll which in 5 days is 1500 Philos if you run it once a day. You can get your Chest and Leg piece of DL no problem with that. 70 Myth for running High level duty finder once a day makes it less grindy no as well. 70 in one day? Thank you very much. At the rate you can acquire said tomes, it i much easier to be geared for the main story quests, primals, and hard mode dungeons. I don't see a problem.. Thanks to the DF roulette I was able to get 3 new pieces of DL in one day (my jewelry that I've been loathing to get). Run roulette for a week, get some gear, participate in the higher end content.
Edit: I see you haven't reached level 50 yet so you haven't even completed pre 2.1 so I don't know how or why you're complaining yet....maybe you have another character under a different name but from i seen...why are you so uptight at level 40? You have a ways to go before you get to extreme primals.
Or just find a static group of 8 people and start running them until you down them.
If you play 4 or 5 hours a week you can go from just hitting 50 to being geared to fight extreme mode primals in under a month. If anything getting high level gear is too easy and I say this as someone who doesn't play a whole lot.
OP the relic quest chain, HM primals, Coil and now the EX primals are NOT part of the main storyline. They are all side-quest content aimed deliberately at the players that want a challenge.
The storylines involved with these quests expand on things in the main story but they are not required to progress the main story.
Think of coil as that one super hard dungeon with a secret boss that every FF always has. It's there for those who want a challenge.
I'm not a hardcore player and I've cleared all the HM, currently working on ExM. My guild and I take a few hours out to try out the fights. Spent too much time trying to clear it? Take a break and do it tomorrow. That doesn't require you to be hardcore. As far as I know it's not the "main" main story... I've been following the dialogue and it doesn't seem to be... more just like a "Meanwhile, the beast tribes..." kind of thing.
As I see you never seem to play through the storyline. First of all the extreme primals are no part of either the story line neither of the relic quest. They were once in 1.0 a part of the relic quest. Not anymore in 2.0. What you might mean are the hard primals.
Well now that Extreme is out we can assume it is not part of the Main Story quest because Extreme Primals have its own storyline with each extreme primal quest having relevent story plots for the Main Story that people will miss out if they skip Extreme Primals and its quests.
Extreme storyline serves as a Side-story relevent to the Main Story similar to Binding Coil story covering Bahamut fate and Allagan Secrets serving to be a prologue for a future plan Main Story plot with Bahamut and Crystal Tower Story being a prologue for the future battle with Nero and how he obtained [Spoiler block] Weapon before we see it in the future Main Storyline.
Extreme Primal Story is covering the rise of the Ascian's influence over the Primals and how they are becoming even stronger than people thought originally. This is a foreshadowing to a Future Main Storyline point which is most likely discovering more ancient secrets of the Primals and Allagan civilization.
Also complete the Extreme Primal Quest Chain rewards players with 3 tokens which can be traded for ilvl 90 weapons that are in the Token shop in Toll.
As of now seems SE is having the Hardcore and Endgame contents as Prologues for Future Storyline Plots for their Story.
Isn't good king moogles the only msq primal after the hm Titan, Garuda, ifrit? I thought the extremes had a seperatly quest.
Or, World of Warcraft, where you don't miss a single bit of lore even if you can't do the hardest content. Nor have to wait months to see it.
The best road for casuals that play for the story/lore is simply unsub, come back in 2.2, complete 2.1 content, unsub, and so on. Or, as OP said, just move on.
WoW also gives you better gear for beating hard mode dungeons than they do for beating easy ones. Apparently that's unacceptable here lol.
Yes Extreme does have a seperate story quest but the Extreme Primal Quest is also part of the Main story since it covers a small piece of the Ascian's plans which is foreshadowed in 2.0 Main Story ending and 2.1 Main Story ending.
However, this is only a small part of the Story and most likely will be covered through a quick dialogue later in the Main Story explaining how the Ascians are increasing the Primal's Powers and how did they obtain this kind of knowledge but with 2.1 Main storyline we can lower our guesses down to a few assumptions.
"Waaaaah, I don't like a challenge!"
Just as you can't do level 50 dungeons at level 40, so too can't you do iLvl 80 content with iLvl 50 gear. There's nothing casual or elite about it; just because you hit the experience level cap doesn't mean you get to stop leveling up via equipment.
Crystal Tower has a low iLvl Requirement, but the bosses hit hard. You do need to know what you're doing in there. As for EX... just a matter of learning rotation and dodging.
I didnt use to think like this, but now im convinced that hardcore/competitive players playing your game is definitely what makes your game stay on the top and become increasingly more popular.
It's true. I can do the current raid content in wow for the first time ever because I haven't needed to find +9 people to play with. That's always been the more challenging part of the game. I left FFXIV for a bit and went back to WoW simply because I didn't see it too likely that I would be invited to the Coil group in my FC any time soon.
My problem with FFXIV has been "if you see an aoe form under you, you will get hit by it no matter how quickly you react". I prefer games where I am given a chance to dodge mechanics as opposed to needing to anticipate them. I don't think I ever survived a Titan HM between landslides that knock me in opposite direction from the way it was facing and pools that spawned under me with no reaction time allowance.
I dislike the look of the Extreme mode bosses especially if there is no reaction time allowance. I share the OP's concern that if the main story goes through them, I'll probably drop sub.
I like that. Certainly fits my bill and I'm glad the game works so that I don't fall super behind on gear when I feel my skills are up to par.
If you can't dodge Landslides...that's an entirely different issue. You're either really actually bad or have a bad internet connection.
Too bad the forum is full of people who can't see past the end of their own noses. Apparently everyone in the game does flawless Titan HM runs every day, has ilvl90 gear and finds coil mobs more of a nuisance than a hinderance. Sure, Titan isn't too bad once you've run it a few dozen times and everyone on your team knows the drill. That doesn't stop accidents happening, like accidentally dodging a landslide into the path of a bomb or even eating a landslide due to random lag spikes.
I'm with the OP. Save the 'hardcore' for the sidequests and the elite epic must-have gear. But for the main quest story, I'd much rather it to be enjoyed by as many players as possible, not just the elite.
The game needs hardcore content to be a challenge. People that think that endless mindless grinds are hardcore are bads with too much time on their hands - not hardcore.
Gil grind- not hardcore.
Challenging encounter that requires highly coordinated groups with situational awareness... hardcore.
Long interesting quests full of lore that give a unique and powerful reward - Hardcore and casual friendly. <--- Notice the overlap... takes time and dedication, can take skill as well... but can be done incrementally.
To OP:
Just finshed main scenario for this Patch (2.1).
No Extremes to be defeated.
Its perfectly doable for Everyone.
