Doing something tedious for less amount of time does result in less tedium, you are correct. There's only so much they can do to it, it's a gathering class.

Funny how people say things like this, but then demand we raise the minimum wage... except this is a game, in real life it really does hurt those who have worked hard to advance themselves in life. Not to hijack this and turn a thread political, but just something to think about... (also not pointing any fingers or saying the op believes this)

Really? Get over it. I leveled bot and min both to 20 each already... And it was HARD... Well not really...just mash a button run mash run. Kinda easy really. Leveling a gathering class is not hard and there's nothing unfair to the xp change. On ffxi they adjusted Xp to get to 75 and the world didn't end.
This is good news. Although I think I'd prefer SE to reduce the other classes XP rate to match MIN/BOT.
Obviously I don't really, but I would take a great deal of enjoyment reading the emotionally charged, angry teenagers responses on here.
Welcome to how fishers have felt since the very start. You can continue crying when your entire class has been destroyed for the sake of... Stress? RMT? Something stupid like that.
Stop weaving around the question. Threader you like it or knot, each time you call someone a sew and sew, you make yourself look more like a knit.
You got to be a higher level before others could take advantage of this "buff". You have an advantage over others by being "first" (market). So stop complaining because no one cares about your complaining.
I'm ok with making things easier but not two months into the game. It's just dumb, how about we nerf binding coil next month? Make it easier for everyone, share the pie!
What I find funny with this is, the people that ACTUALLY took advantage over being a 50 miner first, etc etc and got rich because of their hard work got bent over by SE because of " RMT " excuse and had most of their money ripped away.
Lets take a step back and look at the big picture.
First set of rushers make it to 50, on either DoW/DoM and DoL/DoH. The First surge of money from DoM/DoW is spent trying to get relic as fast as possible, their starter 300 - 400k from quests. All of this money gets stockpiled on the first DoL/DoH players. RMT has already been starting to happen. ( RMT is in EVERY game. EVERY. So lets think outside of the box and think of the economy as a whole with a handful of super super rich at the moment from sucking all the first endgame rushers of their big quest gil paychecks. )
Use RMT as an excuse to suck most of the money out of the game and away from the hands of the minority who built it up fast. Everyone starts now off at a clean slate, and the mad influx of money is overwith since this is no longer launch. Coupled with the fact the first rushers began to level DoH/DoL and the prices of level 50 mats plummets, so you now have economical balance. Also, you can't right off theb at solo afford the biggest FC houses available at 2.1 launch and thus trivilizing the most expensive purchase in the game thats upcoming.
Its just icing on the cake to increase exp gained for gathering to cause less items to be up on marketboard, since lower exp per swing on a node, equals more items gathered.
But anyway, yeah, the exp change for gathering is a good thing.
Pretty much how I feel about it. I think DoL could use an xp nerf 6 months down the road. Seems silly to nerf things so close to the initial launch.
For clarification, I don't care if people have the same stuff as me. I do care about there being enough stuff to do in-game that I enjoy. I am currently leveling BOT and I enjoy it. Now I am going to hit the level cap faster and that will be the last DoL class I can level. I would rather them put off the xp nerfs to at least 2.1, but oh well. EX mode time!
They have repeatedly said every update and new content they will making current content easier. So Quit now because someone that start 5 years from now will be able to get all classes to 50 in 30 days. without trying.
Actually, they said they'll make old content easier as it becomes outdated. Somehow I don't think DoL Lv.50 is outdated two month into the games life... In fact, that comment wasn't even about DoL, it was about endgame... When they've added whatever follows Coil, they'll make Coil easier. Heck, not even that, they'll probably just remove the weekly cap and let us farm each turn while leaving the difficulty as is...
You only have Miner 50. I did every DoL/DoH in 1.0 and spent more effort than new 2.0 players could ever imagine doing those. Now, you can 1-50 all DoH in less than a week if you're only somewhat "hardcore."
Yeah I stopped caring.
You realise the saturation of items is actually directly caused by the slow leveling speed right? The longer it takes players to level the more stuff they need to gather to do so. Most players will check the market for what's hot and exclusively gather that for five levels... when they sell up the thousands they gathered they crash the market for that item.
If leveling were faster you would actually see far fewer of many items flooding the market simply because players wouldn't be forced to gather them.
This. You may see a rush post-patch, but eventually a lot of the lower-tier mats will become more scarce. Meanwhile, the higher end mats are likely to be more saturated, and in my opinion, rightly lower in price. There's a middle ground between getting by as a player and being filthy stupid rich as a player. I veer more toward the former for the benefit of casuals, but those who enjoy the latter will certainly gnash their teeth when you threaten their domain. Personally, I'd like to see a tier of crafting goods between DL and AF2/Allagan to better help outfit players with gearing options not so much bound to dungeon spamming.
What I don't understand is... who hates themselves enough to spend HOURS gathering one thing to sell it for a pittance on the wards... when they could spam a few leves and have that level done in no time.
Unfortunately a move like that makes far too much sense to actually expect SE to do such a thing.
I'm going to laugh if the xp update comes out and we find out SE increased the xp per swing by like 5-10xp.
Happy whining ppl. Those who agree pls stop feeding them. There is n9 way to reason with them.
Leves are finite. The mining and botany also under-reward when you consider you don't get goods to sell. The choice bounces between slightly higher EXP for the time to complete/travel to objectives, or EXP and some gil/personal use. I think the latter far outweighs the former, doubly if you wind up using your leves for crafting instead. Some might twist this into believing craft leves give out too much EXP, but shifting the dynamic from "too much iron ore on the market!" to "too much iron spears on the market!" doesn't really change things if people were forced to craft even more things that don't match demand. I do enough head scratching as is when I go to sell some items and find them below material cost, but I could also blame that on quest rewards doling out gear you can sell. This is perhaps more harmful to crafters than someone getting a gathering profession to 50, say, 2x faster than present. Which is my estimate of the pending change, maybe 1.5x more at lowest.
