I feel for you OP. I'm sorry that happened.

Honestly, it wouldn't take long to make millions from selling tome items (see: Potash, Peacock Ore, Animal Fat, etc.). I just don't have the time, nor the patience, to grind that much for money since I haven't had a use for it in a loooooooong time, lol.

i call BS right after you said you was farming mils off of darksteel at lv42, i have a 50 miner an i know for a fact that without Truth of Mountian, you wouldve been to lucky to even get 1 successful attempt off of the unspoiled node, and most of the time wouldve jsut got "You Obtain Nothing".

...You do realize this is a game, right? That the currency you (and others) are so up in arms over does not really exist?

Most world currencies are not backed by anything. They are just pieces of paper/coins with no intrinsic value.

Financial derivatives do not represent any real objects. The US derivatives market totals something like $600 trillion which is more than 10x the world GDP.


All of these still have value because people collectively place 'faith' in the system. If I spent many many hours acquiring a currency which is deemed real enough to warrant rampant RMT only to have it stripped away I'd feel robbed as well.

The major difference being: you can physically buy food, clothing, housing, and anything you want in the "real world" with physical money. If one can't see that, there's no helping him/her. I agree that all currency is basically made up, but let's not exaggerate or blur the lines between reality and a video game.

Any and all gil that was made by questing should be returned. Same with the items he sold but it won't be becasue SE didn't bothered to look. If I'm the first to be the highest lvl craftsman/gatherer on server you're dame right I'm gonna corner the market. Am I wrong for doing so? I don't think so. And its funny that people are saying the since there are lvl 50s running around they don't need to buy from the market. The short answer to that is, PEOPLE ARE LAZY! I hate crafting but I'm doing it so I won't have to pay someone else to do it. But as everyone that has used the MB knows if I can get it from there , I'm gonna buy it if I'm LAZY that day. He had the market cornered and people that grinded to 50 DoW/M, either through being LAZY, or just out of convenience, bought from him. Not everyone bought there gil in EA. I didn't run into gil spammers until the end of the first week of official launch. Ok I'm rambling I'm done :)

The more I read these stories the more I'm certain you cheated in some fashion. SE knows how, so thats good enough for me.

I've played enough games ans seen enough crap pulled by companies to know they aren't always right. Infact a lot of the time their wrong, they have to answer to nobody so they can do as they please to an extent, I haven't seen a single person post about being suspended and returning with all their Gil intact. Until I do I believe SE have just done as they pleased.

Sorry buddy but you're a total noob.

At 46 you can start mining timed nodes, I never said lvl 42. In addition, the DS always spawn under the same OUT OF REACH line, you just need to use 3 swing to make it pop, then pop your 50% gathering skill and you get 3 more shoots letting you mine 9 ores... Learn to play before posting

Actually they were buying them to make a nugget for their relics, there were no 2 stars items 2 weeks after launch, tomes mats were not for sell yet (on my server that is), not to mention I couldn't even provide the HQ ores. Please try to think before posting even if it seem really really hard.

I cancelled don't worry. I still can't believe SE didn't post anything about asking us to let them know if we think it was a mistake so they could investigate again. Phone support tells us to ask in-game and then the GM in-game tells us to call them...

It's amazing how much I see "all crafts x craftsmanship y control, can HQ all 2 star". Who will buy from you? People will ask for their relic precursor maybe, but that's 1-star, except for BLM where its only lv 50 normal. People who can buy that kind of crafts (entire Vanya set) have 5 million+ on hand. Which they made by doing what? Running AK? Nope, they probably crafted...which makes them asking for the set stupid. They could save 100k+ making it themselves, per item.

1) People who run dungeons only will go DL -> AF2
2) People who craft and have the money...are very likely to do it themselves.
3) Who does it leave? RMT buyers
4) and legit players in 6+ months when its common to be able to afford the equivalent of 10000 philosophy tomes like its not much

I'll have all crafts at 50...solely to craft for myself. And meld. Repair too. But to sell Vanya? Just no clients.

You're right, I was selling my stuff at a high price (if you consider spending 36k for the best weapon in-game expensive) since I was the only provider. Would you be so kind to give me the link for the prices at which gathered mats should have been sold on the market at launch?

This is why SE adding more exp to miner/botany so the economy will go down.

I am now in the 2 star market. Reason for why: I noticed I could make more money per minute spent simply selling items that were not 2-star items than I could do doing CM 30 minutes runs where I also fully converted all my cheaply crafted HQ gear to materia every 3 runs. This suggested that the 50-60k market price for a 125-tomestone item was actually reasonable given the effort. This is without having a monopoly on those pre-2star markets.

Naturally, I do background check on every single customer that I've sold i70 HQ to. I've met several suspected gil buyers; one that is 99% surely a gil buyer; all reported of course. I could have made over 5 mllions gil in profit in under one hour of crafting if I had sold to that "99% surely a gil buyer".

So who are the people that I mostly sell to that I find believable to be legit:
1. People who already hit their mythology cap of the week but still don't have enough mythology to deck out their character completely, so they compliment their gear by grinding materia and philosophy stones to buy i70 HQ gear. This group often have themselves the philosophy stones needed, so I just take a crafting profit of roughly 100k after tax and provide remaining items which are usually very cheap. Often they do not have a good enough FC or they have bad luck with Bahamut Coil.

2. People who have one or two high crafts and want to gear up their own combat character. I.e. they contanct a HQ i70 crafter of a craft they can't do to gear up their own combat character.

3. Gatherers. This one is small minority though.

I am guessing that he either really forced himself to endure the boredom that grinding mining without leves is (I am assuming he got his miner to lv50 long before he got his combat character there, which means that he did not have access to time-efficient leves) or that he botted just like you said.

I'm up to 25 Million so far... and i've stayed away from RMT hot spots.

I'd assume he was mining loads on release / early access. Same could be said about those who hit 50 in a 3/4 days.

Bots don't do leve's (loads more exp if he used all his for mining) nor would they optimise their time mining.

They also would not gear up in order to get more items/hq rate, aka more exp, nor would they quickly move to the next best exp spot. I expect they also gather slower time for time.

I doubt bot's could even gather rare nodes (what Kevin was selling), due to long time between spawns / different locations etc etc etc.

The big flaw in this of course is, DoW and DoM don't make Darksteel Nuggets, crafters do and in ARR leveling craft without a DoL is pretty much impossible. If this was a Legacy server, you weren't the only one with 50 DoL. You just weren't.

So while you leveled Miner to 46, someone else was leveling all variants of craft to 50, getting gear from all the other crafts to meet required Craftsmanship and Control and doing the storyline to get a DoW or DoM and spiritbonding Materia IV and some how beating the RnG and getting the coke and the ... yea. I think maybe you made your gil fair OP? But I don't think it worked out quite the way you decided :)

too true, by comparison, the price of darksteel ore on Hyperion is something like under 200 gil, mostly because as a legacy server, we have plenty of max level gatherers already.

Cactuar is not a legacy server and yes I was the first 46+ on server, I was getting litteraly spammed with lvl 50s asking for the darksteel ores for their relics, not the mention the ones I sold on market.
