The reason we disagree with the majority rule using duty finder is becuase it isn't an agreement prior joining. Majoirty rule is what premades are made for hence the reason the are called premade.

The only prerequiste for joining a duty via DF is that you are a certain level, no where does it say click here to go in to grp to avoid cut scenes.

Just to add I have run AK and CM loads of times look up my char, nearly fully DL, however if i cant be bothred to join a premade and go in via duty finder, I will respect the wishes of a new player.

10mins of cut scenes isn't going to kill me....

I'm very happy to see huge majority of players commenting and liking the posts in this thread understand that when people are running the dungeon for the first time for the story, the group should let them experience it without rush and skipping the story part of it.

In my LS, I've tried to organize LS groups for all members who are up to CM and Prae so no one is ruining the experience for them. That's where they can also experience their first times doing 8 member content which is great experience for especially tanks and healers, I think. We usually don't even explain any strategies for the fights but let them figure out stuff themselves. It's sad when people forget they were once new and feel like their time is so very precious they can't let new people experiment and experience things.

Every single person our linkshell group on Balmung has been either coerced into skipping, or have been locked out of the boss fights due to people refusing to let them watch the cut-scenes.

It's absolutely ridiculous the situation that you cannot obtain a DF team for the instance without either missing the fights OR missing the cut-scenes... in the final levels of a story driven game. It's all very well telling people to watch the cut-scenes anyway, but you still miss the game exposition of the fights itself - while if you skip, you then get to watch the cut scenes out of sync, without the important context of the cut scenes the fights probably don't make much sense.

One good solution would be to simply make the boss barrier un-crossable until all players are out of the cut scene. or trap the players in a field like they do when the players first enter the instance so they can't start before everyone is ready.

It disgusts me how many rude people have come to infest the community, If I ever see someone telling someone to skip a CS I will give them a piece of my mind and tell the person who is new to watch them as NO-ONE has the right to make people skip any cutscene in a storybased games.

Not all the cutscenes from CM are shown in your inn book. So, no, let the new guys watch the cutscenes.

I love all these people saying "You're the jerk for wanting to watch the cut scenes, if the other 7 want a speed run you just need to go with it." By this logic the kid at school who gets bullied needs to just give up his lunch money because he is being a real jerk by not giving in to the 7 guys who are going to beat the crap out of him otherwise rofl.

People need to go back to the inn and take an actual look at what cut scenes are in the book not all of them are their especially the short cut scene you receive after boss fights etc you only see the beginning one and ending full cut scene's telling people other wise is being dishonest to them and yourself.

Not quite accurate, they only have to finish the first time of every dungeon before the kick feature is added. :D

I agree that people should watch the cutscenes their first time, in fact one of my LS is planning to do a cutscene run of CM and Praetorium 1 time a week, just to get some new folks through. At the same time, all cutscenes ARE IN THE INN. You have to check multiple tabs, but I know for a fact they are all there. Once again, though, this is not an exceptable excuse for forcing people to miss them in context.

I'm not new to these fights, and I have done CM more than 50 times and sometimes I want to see the scenes I missed in CM when I did my first run, but I can't because it's always a speed run.

But peer pressure always wins. :(

I don't see the problem. I think both sides are wrong in CM. If you want to watch the cutscenes, go ahead. We don't need everyone to beat the bosses. You will be left behind. If you want to speedrun, do it. But you won't have everyone availible for the fight.

Speedrunners are wrong for forcing people to not watch the cutscenes.

Cutscene people are wrong for wasting everyone elses time.

I see its my first time to the content, and that part of the story, and I'm wrong for watching? I paid this all this money for software and sub, so I do not get to watch story when new to it, because the others have seen it already? The new person has a right to see the cut scenes without harassment and enjoy them. The other people are selfish, if they cannot wait a minute or two for the new person to see the scenes.

Maybe, what SE could do is divide the duty finder (DF) into two options when a player is trying to queue. One option for NEW players and another for EXPERIENCED players.

And while at it, make it so in the new player DF cutscenes cannot be skipped, but can in the experienced DF.

Just throwing an idea out there. Not saying that it should be this way.

Speedruns in all the level 50 dungeons have caused me to have to do everything through my linkshells. No one wants to help the new player learn the dungeon. Especially in Walking Palace... which is made for new 50s to gain level i55 gear so they can move on to AK and do that. Everyone forgets that they were a noob too out of being self focused. If someone slows them down they rather yell and curse them than to take 2 minutes to explain the dungeon and boss mechanics.

I wonder if these people were bullied in their first runs and just are continuing the cycle. I dont get this community, FFXI didnt have any people this violently angry....

To everyone about to try the two last story dungeon, DO take your time watching the cutscenes. I watched some and skipped some, thinking I could watch them later on in the inn. Well turns out you can't watch a lot of the cutscenes in the inn, a lot of important cutscenes are NOT added to the inn, ones that have very nice dialogue from the villains and such. I understand speed runners wanting to do their thing, but jumping into duty finder and expecting everyone that joins to also be a speed runner is pretty foolish, maybe you don't care about story in a final fantasy game (what?!?) and you just want them tomes as fast as possible, (or maybe you do care and you enjoyed all cutscenes on your first run and now are not letting others get the same enjoyment as you did), but some people do, and telling them to skip their enjoyment of the game so you can get your tomes 10 minutes faster (cutscenes in none of those dungeons take 20 minutes like people some are saying) is pretty selfish.

your argument would be right, if your second statement was correct, "Cutscene people are wrong for wasting everyone elses time. " is not correct at all, it would be one thing is a person watched the cutscenes every single time they ran the dungeons, but they don't, it is just their first time, and speed runners are bullying them to skip it.

Like I said before, if it is my first time in a dungeon, and I am using DF, I will watch the CSs you can threaten and bitch at me all you want. After that, I will skip, as I do not need to watch them again, if I want to do that, that is what the inn is for.

I repeat, the inn is for REPLAYING a cutscene, not watch it for the first time -.-

The people who want you to skip cutscenes don't seem to understand what an MMO is. They are playing with other PEOPLE, who each deserve to watch that cutscene just as much as anyone else on their first run. If your time is that precious, and you dislike playing with other PEOPLE that much, go play a single player game where you can have as much control over your situation as you want :)

You will get extra tears as a tank. I got a flood of tears for not knowing how to do a speed run. My BRD friend didn't help the situation because he's used to how I tank. He was ripping the mobs off of the speed running tank since he tried to move the mobs without generating a lot of enmity first. It was funny watching the boss going back and forth at the start of the fight.

I made the mistake of skipping the cut scenes in the dungeon. You cannot watch these cut scenes in the INN.
. Edit: @Freakiie, I'll go look at that option. The cut scenes are tied to the dungeon so it does ruin the experience skipping them for the first time.
I'll be back there for more tears when I watch the cut scenes, please look forward to it.

I'm almost always a conjurer/white mage for dungeon runs. When I do a dungeon for the first time, I like to watch my cutscenes. If the group can't wait for me to get out of a cutscene, boohoo. Same also goes for when I try to explain to newbies and when there is a player who has already done the dungeon, and end up starting, I just let them die because I haven't explained everything yet. Id rather my party know what to do than know nothing and start.

That's a sad way to experience the game for the first time... It is a JRPG which puts story first and foremost.

Oh, I was even more violently angry...but that had everything to do with what the community did to Red Mage and the developers allowing it to continue. They had PLENTY of chances, and blew every single one of them.

As for the topic at hand, I am one of those willing to wait and stand by new players to watch the cutscenes no matter how many times I've done the dungeon. As I was once in their position, I will not pressure them to skip out on story content for a pack of rushers. DO NOT CAVE TO THEM if you want to watch.

Try to bring a couple tank or healer friends with you willing to wait and/or watch the cutscenes with you.

if you're too weak to not watch the cutscenes when you want to then you deserve to miss them.
who the hell gets 'bullied' in an MMORPG, these players made a choice to skip them, no one can force them.
Also the CM cutscenes are crap and there is pretty much no story in them anyways.

Sorry about the luck of whoever I run my first dungeon with. I WILL be watching the cutscenes. I will also be patient when others do so. Its called common courtesy.

If you want speed runs, then you only need 1 tank and 1 healer, 2 at most. In DF it pairs you with 2 tanks instead, which is useless.

Do yourself a favour, don't do DF if you want to speed run, because using DF to speed run is in no way logical.

This sounds like a good idea to me.

I don't understand why people are so angry over this. SE is to blame. Where is the best place to run for tomes to get Darklight the fastest? CM. The place with 45 minutes of cut scenes. So on one hand I understand its not fair to rush people through cut scenes, but its not fair to punish the people that are farming for gear either. Sometimes our FC has to pug one or two, but instead of complaining that we are ruining your in-game immersion, how about you just enjoy the 20 minute CM run and go back to the inn and rewatch at your convenience? Stop getting mad at players who are trying to push through end game in a mind numbing place, and start putting the blame were it should lay, directly in SE's lap for being so short sited with end game gear.

And SE, please for the love of god either give us a skip all button, or give us a better place to farm tomes in. Someone didnt think this one through.

My FC has agreed to take all our slower-leveling members through story dungeons for their first time, so they can experience it correctly.

I agree with OP in the sense that, if someone wants a speedrun, they should build a group for that purpose. If they choose to use DF for convenience, they need to recognize that a wide range of players will be found.

The community would benefit by being helpful/patient/friendly with new people.

I stand corrected, all cutscenes, are indeed, available at the inn. While it is a nice alternative it still doesn't create the immersion that watching them when you are going through the dungeon for the first time does, makes the dungeon really feel epic for people that want to enjoy their game's story, especially the Praetorium ones.

I've said it in another post in another thread awhile back, and I'll say it again:

That book in the inn is for RE-living scenes from the game, it's not a Tivo or a DVR to 'catch what you missed'.
