Arcanist don't use dark magic lore wise. Sorry to sound mean but did you pain attention to your own black mage class quest? Black mage is the dark magic class. Now unto the egi's yes I wished the egi's looked like how you described in the OP. Also I wish the pet interacted more with the summoner currently the Pet is the side show of the class and once you get garuda you have no reason to use the others.

Ifrit is trash as well.

Actually, you don't know what you are talking about. Arcanists don't have anything to do with dark magic. Did you watch the class story at all? They are all about using strategium and numbers and converting that into magic. No where is it mentioned that they have anything to do with dark magic. I would say they are more a mix between the Mystic, Time Mage, a little bit of Geomancer, Summoner and Calculator jobs from Final Fantasy Tactics.

Also, carbuncle isn't an avatar of light. Green carbuncle is wind based and gold carbuncle is earth based, just like the egis that replace them when you become summoner. If you read the descriptions of their attacks compared to the egis, they are almost identical.

If you mean traditionally, there is only 1 game in the entire FF series where carbuncle is considered a Light (or Holy) summon and that is in FFXII: Revenant Wings. Normally, he is a non-elemental summon that can only cast status buffs.

I have a few things I'd like.

- Pets to disengage when a mob has been pacified in leve's. They already have the AI disengage on bind (and possibly also sleep, though I've never tested it). Why it stays on mobs in leves though, must be because they forgot about it.

- Remove pet buff skills and just give an overall boost. I can combine them fine with some DPS moves, but most of the time it gets so hectic that I forget about activating them. And lets be honest, it is really never any time when you don't want them active.

- I wish for a Siren egi, since she for once exist in the game and I think it was like FF8 I last saw her.

Siren is in this game, but she isn't a primal.

I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes.

I would like summons that look like summons, not the egis.

FFXI summons or gtfo! You can make the model slightly smaller if you want or even change the color pattern.

SMN does not feel like SMN, Scholar is fine.

Say what? Summoner started as a damage dealing class. It wasn't until FFIX that they mixed Summoners with White magic. Heck, the first real summoner was a black mage on top.

FFIII, FFIV, and FFV, they were all damage with some utility spells. FFIX and FFX they were SMN/WHM combinations. I think that's what people decided they should do for FFXI, but I have no idea, never really leveled one.

All I'd really like is more interesting summons than Ifrit, Titan, Garuda, Leviathan, Ramuh and Shiva as besides Garuda and Titan the rest imo have been done to death. I'd love to see some of the less used summons from the final fantasy series, or maybe just some new ones. Why can't we summon the essences of the twelve instead? As according to ingame lore they're basically the same as primals, only difference being that they are on the player's side.

But i know, fan favorites and all will prevent this from happening, i'd love to be able to summon madeen or byregot for example.

For each final fantasy game the lore is different so you cannot say that it only concerns like 1-3 games. Here arcanist is not using dark magic seeker explained how it worked in terms of THIS game lore. In FFXIV black mage is the dark magic class since our powers are linked to the void. Oh yeah read it clearly IN all previous final fantasies it is classified as BLACK magic and I looked at the wiki page you got that from.


Nothing you say will change it because in this games lore they are not practicing the dark arts. Black mages are practicing the dark arts.

Oh yeah and thanks to dissidia saying all the worlds are connected to the void guess what this means for black magic? That means they are the dark magic class of the FF series.

Fenrir smn > Little pup with dark fur follows you around.

Yojimbo > Little Samuari dude with really big hat

Odin > Little dude with a baby horse in armor with a sword bigger than his body.

I am just making this up on the spot, let me know if you need more ideas =P
