And this is what makes WoW so good in that sense, you still aren't guaranteed to get the drop you want but someone in the party is most likely going to have some use for the item that does.

Having each NM drop multiple items would be a start, the mid ranged NM's actually do this and it works quite well I think.

exactly they "do not look like a joke" which makes them a good trailer for new players, then you came in, play, disapointed because it is a joke, and open another whine thread about it.

They already drop multiple items, and you can break horns/arms/etc for further items.

NM fights and the end result : I think any fight where you team up with your team mates to fulfill a challenge can itself be a rewarding experience. I know many will disagree but the most fun I have is just fights with my linkshell. I don't expect drops to be 100% but I would not be opposed to a 50 - 75% drop rate so that more likely then not we'll get the drops we fight for. The fun of fighting something that requires a full party is a reward I like in itself.

I do not mind the droprate of the special items, that I find to be awesome. You aren't supposed to get something on the first kill. In case you did, there would be no reason to kill them more times than for the number of people in the group - which is not the idea of high-rank content in MMOs.

That being said, I mean that you should be awarded something at least.
Like yesterday when we killed the Goblin NM, he didn't even drop a single shard - which is rather stupid in my opinion.
There should be some kind of reward at leas.
Take for example Jackanapese. I've killled him two times, and no unique/rare item, but a Leather Jacket (Black) both times.
This is something that can be craftet by a rank 30 LWR, but it is nice to add it as a potential drop nevertheless, as it then gives an impression of a reward even if you don't get the Unique/Rare drop.

I also did two faction NMs yesterday, which costs 400 Faction Credits each, and they have a chance to drop items to trade in for rank 50 gear.
When the only reward from the chest is 5 earth crystals, you feel kinda played. Not saying it should be a 100 % drop for the r50 gear token, but considering the amount of time used to gather the faction credits, as well as getting a party together, doing the pre-quests etc, there should be something useful or that is difficult to obtain as a reward, not 5 crystals that are easly gathered - and which you most likely have loads of when you already are at rank 50.

The reward for the leve itself wasn't anything more than what you can get from a rank 40 leve from time to time.

I think the higher level NMS are fairly well balanced.

They spawn fairly often with a semi decent drops rate, with the ability to incapacitate them to increase the drops.

Risk vs Reward... a thurm can solo most those high level nms. So the 20-30% drop rate sounds about right.

The only NM I've camped so far was Kokoroon Quickfingers. My party and I went 3-74 on the darkshell mail and 10-74 on the bow. I would assume most droprates are similar and if so they are extreeeemely low.

I agree, the runestone rewards should have a bit higher drop rate. That's my only real gripe. The rest can be farmed quite fast without too much hassle.

If anything drops should be harder to get, can't have everyone running around with everything. Argument is obvious, case in point.

You incapacitate to increase the chance of the "main" items dropping though, but from what I gather people only kill Dodore to get the wing and that is the only unique item he drops.

Now if he dropped something else which was unique, say an eye or a lens which could be used in a different recipe it would double the chance of getting one of those items, people don't want to spend 20-30 mins killing something to get a frikkin Chocobo Feather +3
