For those interested, there was an image on twitter (since removed) that showed the log-in screen. So it would seem that some sort of download was provided along with the email.

It doesn't matter if people "Blitz" or not, it's a stability test before anything for now. So it's better to have hardcore testers leveling and doing quests like crazy rather than people just sitting in a corner taking screenshot of their character.
(And well level will most likely be limited like for the first alpha, to ~20 or something.)
All this means is that when I come back from my trip, that the first alpha test should be almost done, and then I hope I get in the next round of Alpha testers =). I wanna pew pew pew those bugs out OUR game so we can have a decent launch for once.. PEW PEW PEW! STOMP ON BUGS! :P
Since the Alpha is a stresstest on the servers the testers will likely get a message in the chat that tells everyone to teleport to a certain area and hopefully everyone online will do so so that the developers can see how much the servers can handle. They will probably "ignore" feedback about gameplay bugs for the alpha build and leave it for the beta. Of course players are not just going to stand around doing nothing waiting for a S-E message but hopefully when they are asked to do something they do it.
