Alpha Tester Acceptance Mails Heading Out!

We have recently begun sending notification e-mails to players accepted as alpha testers for FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn. For those who do not receive an acceptance notification this time, do not be disheartened! We are planning to augment the ranks of testers over time, and there will be more opportunities for you to join the fray.

Furthermore, because the Alpha Test is commencing first in the Japanese region, at this time e-mails are being sent only to players who reside in Japan. When testing for the other regions are ready to commence, notifications will be sent to players accordingly.

The development team is still seeking players who would like to participate in the alpha test. If you are interested and have yet to apply, we encourage you to do so.

i bolded that passage because, sure as morning, someone would cry "if alpha is starting, why no western player got an invite ??!" jp onry etc...

Well he did say the alpha was starting at the end of October.

I got my hopes all up when I first read that news. Until I finally got to the part of it being the japan only invite for the first alpha test. Which made me a sad panda. Guess I'll have to wait till the next tests.

Also, there will be someone misunderstanding and complaining about this. Thinking that the entire test will be JP only.

isn't anything new, we know since months phase 1 would be only japan. Phase 1 is just test for server stability and they need to act fast if something wrong happens, hence the jp only.
After servers have enought stability they'll open to everyone

Following the Alpha Test, the Beta Test will focus on checking game systems, reviewing in-game content, adjusting the battle systems, checking balance, and reporting bugs.

Server bugs: stress test so it can handle people and other major bugs that would cause the client to crash on say log in or such. Then they will expand it to other regions to find more server bugs/stresses that need to be fixed before moving on to game mechanics...

I just hope that people actually test and report bugs. Some people just blitz level to max level so that they can show off their e-peen.
