How are you liking Pilgrims Traverse?

I only traversed up to F50 before a friendo had to call it off yesterday. Suffice to say the only two things that I can see myself liking are the Votives addition and the fact that mobs in those floors are not as HP spongey as the one you encounter in EO within the same floor range, which is pretty damning 'good traits' IMHO if the highlighted reason why I enjoy things is because there's XYZ other thing within the same category that felt much worse.

If they truly return to EO format beyond F50, frankly it just shows to me how it rhymes with the way they try to appease all types of players kind of approach nowadays.

I like the way it looks. The candelabra powerups are lots of fun and I like the rewards.

I don't like that at like 50-60 mobs just start 1 shotting from long range. Thats just annoying for a run to end with everyone gettting 1 shot with little to no way of recovering.

Yeah, overall it wouldn't be that bad if not for the sudden one shot moves they added to so many mobs on high floors. I mean its still leaning toward the more boring side, its a better alternative than running the same dungeons again and again in roulettes, but that doesn't say much since it is already just as repetitive but more frustrating due to the choices they made. Really wish we could have just leveled up in OC instead so we could kill 2 birds with 1 stone. This game overall just needs more ways to level and while I understand it's not an easy thing to make leveling something that isn't tedious, they really need to experiment more. Copy/pasted PotD/EO merger with a couple new things thrown in does not feel it.

I don't care for deep dungeons. The core gameplay loop of them isn't interesting. I went in and got predictably killed by the first boss; I'll wait for some guides to be written and go back to it eventually, but I just... don't care.

Not interested that much. Same old thing. Mobs are also sponge as in EO and take some time to kill, specially if you are a tank. If you play potd or HoH you would notice that mobs die very fast at the beginning while here that's not the case. So another thing of "tanks bad, go dps" just like EO did have.

First boss is a major gatekeep and in the whole process it just does one single mechanic of spawning 3 mobs that will screw you over and over if you can't kill them enough. This is the whole gimmick of a boss. Just one mechanic sigh. You have to save cooldowns for mobs specifically, get strength, haste and even then sometimes its not enough and you die. I'd say that 1st boss is annoying, like really annoying compared to other floor bosses that are much much easier. The one shot mechanics happen again with untelegraphed things just like EO.

Not satisfied and since day one people have already rushed this thing like their lives depend on it and now you can just find parties that do 71-100.

I'm not hating it so far, but I could easily see myself quitting it forever as soon as I get the hair and feo ul minion.

This kinda seemed like it was their first actual response to the OC flop, by framing it as content that has something for everyone. It was probably a big mistake to include more demotivational achievements like 30k accursed horde. Nobody wants to do that.

More Norvrandt lore is always good. Voeburt probably has the best lore in pre-flood Norvrandt.

I didn't bother with EO after the 30 story floors so can't really give great input on "being like EO", but from my own experience I'd place things as such:

Floors 1-50 on par with PotD floors 1-50
Floors 51-70 on par with PotD floors 51-100, HoH floors 1-30
Floors 71-79 are an obscene difficulty spike with a lot of overly large OHKO aoes and luring traps all over the place, by far the most difficult part of the entirety of Pilgrim's Traverse
Floors 81-98 gets a bit easier, on par with PotD floors 101+

All the bosses(including the floor 99/TFV boss) feel reminiscent of Bozja and Second Walk bosses, a step up from "normal" but still a decent bit easier than "extreme".

Unfortunately I've heard from a friend who recently did the minimum 15 offering version of Quantum that it starts out already on par with savage floor 3/4, so it seems like there won't be much actual difficulty variance after all.

Aesthetics and such are peak. I really appreciate all these unique and much more open layouts that you sometimes don't know when a hallway begins and a room ends. The music selection has also only been getting better and has been full of actual bangers. Orthos was great except it had the Pulse Remix of Shiva where its just someone mumbling and at the same time gargling the lyrics into a high powered fan. The Pulse 2 tracks are AMAZING and there is no song I dislike. And we also get the piano collection?? AND WE GET MUSIC DROPS OF THEM??? That's actually so insanely good and a really enjoyable reward imo. When we got the Scions and Sinners version of Return to Oblivion I was really happy.

For general gameplay

Poms/Incenses - I enjoy these the most of the 3. Demiclones felt like they weren't broken but just really strong and each had its own identifable thing. Incences do that again, but its much more fun cause we get Feo Ul doing things to help us rather than clones from ARR who are silent. Even trying to use another one when you already used the ones where she follows you gives a funny system text "Your beautiful branch is already by your side and granting you succor. Don't be greedy" like that's SOOOOOO funny and cute. It's not Feo Ul telling you. It's the game itself, its the system message where it says "Can not use while occupied" it KNOWS Feo Ul is a Monarch and King (nonbinary flavored) and I love that. But back to the actual use, they all feel useful. Maze can sometimes feel the weakest but it still gives you some nice bonuses and isn't useless outside of bosses. Poison is just Magicite again but its only 1 of the 3. We had 4 Magicites in HoH and they were identical besides Odin who could be used on bosses to fully 1 shot. And Bark is sooooo helpful with the heals and transforming enemies 24/7. Now for Poms, Haste being a party effect feels nice, but Purification feels... kinda useless. The only use you can get from it is really stepping on a silence trap and it removes one of the debuffs? I wish it just gave you a flat regen or a shield.

Candleabras - So tied in with the Pom of Devotion, this is a cool mechanic and its fun. IDK WHAT THE GROUND ONE MEANS but the idea of risking a big bonus or a negative effect is good I love gambling. But thankfully the positives outweigh the negatives. And they have FUN with it. Some stuff makes sense and would be obvious buffs. Half oGCD cooldowns, regen ticks that = your max HP, that sorta stuff. But giving you the massive PvP super sprint, becoming BALL, becoming those big Immolation bomb spirits, those are so fun and seeing people react to them is great. The negatives like I said hurt, but is just a bump. The no map one is so funny my party got lost for 8 minutes AFTER the gate opened. I now learned to use waymarks to be able to tell where somethings might be/for breadcrumb trails. This as a whole is a great change and addition 1/3?
