Accessibility and Jumping Puzzles. Why Are We Still Doing This?

Some of us are meant to play football, and some of us are meant to play video games. If you can't do jumping puzzles something tells me you can't do savage or extremes either, but should you get the rewards, or should SE dumb down the content (anymore than they already have tbh) to make it more accessible? Definitely not. I empathize with you, but we all have our strengths and weaknesses and at the end of the day this is a game with a sub so making it unfun for most people so a few can get a fake congrats reward makes no logical sense.

Oh this is useful, I never realized this could be done, and makes me wonder if you could do a particularly long string of macros, maybe even taking the entire macro page, to just do the entire Kugane Tower for you, it'd be impractical of course, but viable...

To be fair you can improve the accessibility of a game dramatically without necessarily making it easier or more steamroll-able... This is just the poor decision making that SE tries to employ, where they think every issue, regardless of what that issue might be can be resolved by lowering the ceiling of everything, and this really is not the case.

But then I suppose a lot of this would hinge on whether you deem bad design to be intrinsic to difficulty or engagement.

It has two to my knowledge
The tower, which you access at the top of the tavern area, and the inn room which you have to get on top of the rooftops and walk across the line with lanterns to access

I have no disabilities, and these things are pretty much impossible for me since I suck at platforming. I can't imagine how it is for you.

I've never once completed a Leap of Faith GATE. In multiple instances, I've had FC events that throw in a jump puzzle as part of the race, and I just immediately concede because I can't do them. I had one race where I was literally 2 checkpoints ahead of everyone else, but the last checkpoint required a jump puzzle, and I finished 3rd. I just don't do them anymore. But like you, I'm immensely frustrated that there is content I can never do because it's locked behind a stupid jump puzzle.

So its a skill issue.

Um ... yeah ... never denied that in my case ... (in fact, I believe I used the exact words "I suck at platforming") ... I was merely sympathizing with OP (since their problem isn't a skill issue but rather a physical limitation). But yeah, go ahead and still be insulting.

The fundamental problem is that FFXIV isn't built to be a platformer: The fact that your character can be floating in mid-air and yet be considered "standing" on something is proof enough. I'd also argue that there's there's something lacking in the physics model for movement and jumping.

If you manage to complete every instanced duty, complete every achievement (some of which take literal years!), and all you have left is the tower in Kugane… I'd say you've conquered more of the theme park than most people even care to try.

I find it incredibly hard to believe you can do high end raids but not jumping puzzles

If you target yourself, you can see that being "on a thing" or not isn't determined by your character's feet but the edge of the target ring.
