Which bit of multiple people saying they really struggle with this mechanic is confusing you?

I'm amazed those of you who find combat easy are so keen to drive even more people from the game with "just play something else."

I could equally well say maybe it is your expectations of what combat in 14 "should be" that are misaligned with the game, but I won't because I'm actually interested in finding solutions for everyone. Hence the suggestion of dual-track difficulty in MSQ content to prevent you poor people from being bored.

Maybe this gulf in worldview stems from the fact I don't use achievements in video games to validate my self-worth.

People who struggle with easy content are usually extremely reluctant to put the slightest effort into it and learn the basic game mechanics or how to even play their class,
hence you get white mages that keep spamming Cure 1, Ninjas that use Doton on bosses, Samurais that don't use Higanbana, Reapers that never use Shadow of Death.

People that only move when an indicator appears under them and then complain they can't dodge the most easy avoidable attack.

Melees that constantly run out of melee range when any marker appears on them.

i can go on, but if you still struggle on lvl 100, what have you done the last 300 hours in this game?

I have no doubt some players don't put in much effort. They are not the issue here.

Your assumption is that by playing the game, one gets better at the game. This is true up to a point.

People struggle at level 100 because they are butting against the limit of what their skill level allows them to do. This is more noticeable in DT because of the marked increase in difficulty relative to EW. Playing the 10 levels of EW doesn't magically increase the skill of struggling players to cross that gap.

I don't understand why people who are good at FF14 PvE assume that everyone who is less good simply isn't trying.

I'd also note that reactions to these threads by stronger players tend to fall into two categories.

Rongway above, for example, provides useful advice on using a high camera angle. Something I'd recommend in general since it gives you a better view of what is in front of you.

The majority, however, simply belittle players who are struggling by telling them how easy the content is. Is that supposed to be helpful? Or is this just a reflexive insult common to toxic gatekeepers?

The OP didn't ask for advice, he only came here to complain, he even said he cleared it with NPC's.

Maybe his UI is bad, maybe his Keybinds are bad, maybe he is a clicker, who knows.?

The OP didn't ask to be ridiculed either.

As I mentioned, I found this to be one of the easier DT dungeons, but the fact it happened to click with my limited abilities doesn't mean it'll do so for others.

And the player base is full of clickers. I have to use a hybrid system because I can't touch-type more than 15 keybinds.

Nobody starts playing FFXIV because they heard the combat systems are good. They are not. I'm sure it pleases the director that a minority of players enjoy the same kind of difficult PvE as him, and maybe the emphasis on such content explains why the story has nose-dived.

I understand it must be frustrating for those who like hard content that a small fraction of that content (MSQ battles) is too easy for them. But you don't rectify that issue by dismissing all those who struggle with such content as idiots who are not trying.

You want more challenging MSQ dungeons and trials? Then you can either throw out half the players, which SQEX will never do, or you support a dual-track system which SQEX might actually develop.

In my honest opinion, the dungeons we got now are still a little bit too easy, all hard content in this game is optional.

If they want they can implement a pure story mode where you don't have to do any dungeon at all for all i care, the DT story being a boring snoozefest has nothing to do with the combat or encounter design, which was mostly great to wake me up from a the comatose "Talk with Wuk Lamat" story line.

And when i say, "if you can't play this game" i mean that and i stand by that.
I am really bad at FPS shooters, so i don't play them, but i also don't go to their community pages and complain to make it easier or give me an aimbot.

You either learn and improve or go somewhere else, if you only want to see the story, you can also watch a video of it, there are plenty of playthroughs by various people.
What is the value of the story anyway when you never experience any challenge or struggle or need to improve to proceed.

What i agree on though, most jobs in the game have indeed too many skills and require too many hotkeys, but there are solutions for this problem, i could help you with that but not in the forum here.

The big difference is most FPS games involve very little beyond FP shooting.

An MMORPG on the other hand has a multitude of reasons why people play it. Preventing them from doing so because they don't excel at one tiny fraction of what is available, namely FF14's poorly-implemented PvE, should not IMO be a reason for them to quit the game.

Seems to me that answer to "I cannot/will not perform basic tasks in a combat setting and demand to complete the story anyway" is the Trusts system that the devs have spent the last few expansions expanding. As has been pointed out in this very thread, you can press no buttons other than those needed to reach the next fight (and maybe avoid death) and the NPCs will clear the duty for you, short of buying a story skip it really doesn't get any easier than that. But that begs the question "why would you play what is clearly marketed as an 'Action RPG' if you're not able or willing to do the action part of the action RPG?". I don't play competitive shooters because I'm not competitive in that setting and I have no particular interest in becoming competitive, I don't play ranked RTS because (again) I'm not good enough and I know it.

FF14 does not present difficult mechanics in dungeons, it never has and it probably never will.

And if you only design the most common content to cater to the lowest common denominator of skill then a line has to be drawn somewhere, else you're asking for a very boring game. Tools are given to them. NPCS, easy mode solo instances, etc.

Another thought, but I think that the dungeon bosses in Dawntrail are an appropriate difficulty, however, the problem is that the jump in difficulty between Endwalker, and Dawntrail dungeon bosses is maybe a little steep. So I think would be worthwhile to reevaluate the difficulty of previous dungeons to create a smoother difficulty curve.
