You don't bake burgers, you grill them. You've mixed your metaphor. I'm sorry to hear Dawntrail want to your personal taste but at the end of the day the majority of the players enjoyed it, you can't deny that fact.

Its literally reality denial. In a different thread, they were unwilling to explain why (on Metacritic) 1000 people giving Shadowbringers a score of ~9.1/10 is seen as normal feedback, but 1000 people giving Dawntrail a score of 5.1/10 is considered awful review bombing made by people who went out of their way to hate on Dawntrail.
IMHO, its okay to have enjoyed Dawntrail, mind you. Even then one would expect people to be aware enough that something they enjoy may not be everyones cup of tea, or may still be flawed in one way or the other.
You literally said you would not answer because you considered me rude (after being incredibly rude yourself, which was ironic, btw), so I simply ignored you from then on out because there is no discussion with you (and because you stated you would stop replying to me, so replies would have been wasted anyhow). No running away happened, but it seems right for you to see it that way :)
I will not reply to any other prompts from you btw, there are other forum users disagreeing with me where a discussion is actually productive and can challenge my views. You take care.
Could SE have done better? Yes. Absolutely.
But crying foul and demanding a DT 2.0 and straight up striking a main character out of the expansion is just nonsense, and no amount of waving arms around about that will make them rethink.
I expected the DT story to be on par with ARR. Which to an extent it was. The fetch 3 things, talk with 3 people was always there in all expansions, not just this one and to more or less the same frequency. The "Talk with Wuk Lamat" is no different from talk to "x" character. It is simply to move the story along.
Now I will not defend the writing in itself, it was pretty boring. I liked the first half because we were exploring a new continent and there was a mystery to it. I enjoyed that aspect, but the continuous repetition if statements that had no further meaning than last time did overstay it's welcome. I liked Lamat'y, and thought she was endearing, but she needed more of a personality than "peace and happiness". If the writers wanted more focus on her, that is fine, but they needed to flesh out her quirks, likes, dislikes and fears/faults. Not just she likes to eat, she loves her Papa, she loves Peace and has seasickness + fear of heights. Those are very raw points that are not presented in a way for us to relate/like the character more.
I wouldn't be for an ARR post-patch like cut for the DT MSQ. But rather I would like to see them make a redo of the story. Rewrite it and implement it in a more polished state. I feel like the players have described everything they didn't like, so taking that into account, maybe a polish to the story would be good.
As well as for the love of Zeus, can you guys voice all cutscenes? I recently played Poppy Playtime chapter 4 and was shocked how this indie studio with this more niche game could have all their characters voiced, but a massive game like FFXIV couldn't.
