Gil is worthless.

There is only a small percentage of people out there having over 100 million Gil while the rest stutters about on 5-10 mil.
Yes WoW has a game time Token but it is REDICULOUSLY overpriced in Terms of Gold and usually only the Grinders, Multiboxers or Contentsellers can afford them on a regular basis.

The truth is that every Game that gets to big has its economy ruined by Bots. We always had botters in FFXIV but it EXPLODED when the big WoW Player migration happened. Demand for Gil, carries and other "stuff" rose and here we are.
Crafting is so easy, Bots can grind the materials, craft the items and sell the stuff on the market board which is why regular Crafters don't bother after the first Week of a Patch release. I have seen patches where the latest crafted Gear Dropped 80% in value over a SINGLE day.

FFXIV enonomy will not recover until botting is aggressively adressed and we all know that will not happen.

You can buy loots/mount from savage tiers (with my alt I pay each person in a farm pf so they dont roll on some items)

You can buy mounts

The usual craft/consummables/housing/glam

You can pay people to do dungeons with you (for example hire a tank+a heal for DT release to do 80-90 dungeons in order to level up faster Viper/Picto)

You can organize events with gils prices

You can offer gifts to friends

I dont think it’s that bad

why is it people cant come down the middle line.. it has to be 1 extreme or the other? plenty other games have addressed this issue with 2nd currency systems

by demanding something in return, i gave it value just now. but the value isnt the same as it would be if the game added more, since the value i gave it only makes it valuable to give away completely. if this was rewarded, then RMT would actually go crazy

You know OP, taking your post as if you're trying to make a point in good faith, you'd have a lot more success if you didn't use such over the top exaggerations. If you said "We need more gold sinks", or had an honest discussion about gil and what value is has in this game, you might get some real discussion.

But nope, you started with "literally worthless", and proceed to double down on that even when it's clear to everyone that it obviously isn't worthless for you, because you're hanging on to so much of it and have spent so much time building it up and I'm willing to bet you still use it on a daily basis, and probably still try to sell things at competitive prices. firstly. i dont really belive in gil sinks, so thats why i didnt really go into it but secondly.. i think i made plenty attempt to have a conversation about ways gil could have more value, and tbh so did many others. given i mostly spam CC now, i havent really been making or spending any gil. i do still make gil here and there from helping my bf level his jobs, but not making gil doesnt make gil any less worthless. its made passively by even doing dallies. and never even minded the logistical nightmare of giving away 300mil to somebody on another dc with a 1mil trade limit, giving it away also doesn't fix this issue, in fact it doesnt even address it. if somebody says "this game needs to change its not fun anymore" and another guy comes in like "just give me your account bro" its the same kind of response here. just give me your achievement and ill make it useful for me. oh you dont feel like ur degree is worth anything? ill take it. thats not how it works man. u cant just demand other peoples stuff because theyre not satisfied with how its being handled

when a player says, this bread doesnt taste nice, they arent thinking. man i just dont want bread ever again. theyre thinking. I want bread that DOES taste nice. and its the same with gillies. i want things to spend my gillies on. not just a number to look at like. man im gona get hacked 1 day if the wrong person sees this cash stack for real

Gil is only "worthless" if your swimming in hundreds of millions of gil and bought literally every piece of glam/mount/minion and whatever else. Not everyone has hundreds of millions just laying around and it seems only op of the threads finds it worthless because they have everything so lets make gil an insane grind that makes people feel they need to play all day everyday to feel there making progress and create unnecessary hyperinflation in the process.
