Green Mage
we kinda already have TMNT Representation:
Leonardo could be a Samurai
Raphael could be a Ninja
Donatello could be a Dragoon
Michelangelo could be a Monk .. well okay do we have Nun-chucks in FFXIV? we have Tonfa though
regarding the WoL's Job.. Rune Fencer or Mystic Knight would be my Thoughts.
Mystic Knight would be funny, since Paladin, the Poster Job of Endwalker is in Japanese a Knight xD
I think it is just a reference to the fact the class will share NIN's armour. However it seems 'twin' or 'dual' seems to be a running theme of 7.0. Two sides contesting for the throne, the current king having two heads and wielding dual swords. It also seems more mediterranean themed. So.. dual wielding pirate class? They count as a rogue class.
Looking at the trailer, it is probably teasing both new classes, with the WoL's appearance on the boat being more aligned to a pirate/buccaneer.
While corsair seems obviously in theme, I wouldn't be 100% certain since, if they really wanted to rub in a distinctly pirate melee weapon, it wouldn't be a small straight sword like we see, but a curved sword like a scimitar, saber, cutlass.
Straight sword would be too indistinct from paladin's weapon, dual blades while on scouting gear would be too similar to ninja. Then again, we do already have white mage and black mage rods/staves/canes and scholar/summoner books
All my money is on green mage DoT/support caster. Even though they have distanced themselves from DoTs, I think they will implement the concept of DoTs in an indirect way that's more in line with its current philosophy of mechanics, sort of like how reaper channels its void avatar without it being overtly a pet entity, and the current summoner (other than carbuncle who continues to be an annoying vestigial crutch).
The way green mage can do nature DoTs without just being like Bio/Venomous Bite: apply stacking debuff on the enemy that you choose when to detonate like Bane, dealing more damage the more stacks were applied. This way (early detonating), burst damage can also be done with the "DoT" gameplay, and also work on enemies that die quicker than the debuff duration, and doing something other than just waiting for ticks alone to whittle its HP down. Poison mechanics are being phased out because they are not interactive or mechanically interesting, plus technical server stuff, so you just have to make it interactive and engaging to maintain these debuffs, and decouple it from server jank like they successfully did with machinist's Hypercharge and ninja's mudras.
Yeah this makes the most sense to me too. Painter or Pictomancer, use a brush, cause magic effects.
We already even kinda have something like that with Demon Chadarnook back in Stormblood, so they could even pull a "Oh you fought a demon painting? Yeah the ancient tales of paintings murdering people comes from our art, no pun intended, but the paintings aren't actually alive... usually."
Ahh, yeah, could easily be that instead. Looking more like that, honestly, the more I look at it. Darn.
(Though, most pistols are straight-draws, so one could as easily seat a left-hand pistol on the left hip.)
Still, really hoping we'd don't just have purely-sword-guy #6 (PLD, DRK, SAM, RDM, NIN-half-the-time). /sigh
Honestly, as a longtime XI player before 2013 I feel Rune Fencer/Mystic Knight/SwordSaint(FFT) needs proper due. XI did RF kind of dirty before I left XI for good, didn't feel like a tank job yet it was advertised as such. Like most XI jobs, balance was out the Window and no one ever wanted a RUN for anything, not even merit points or endgame activities (maybe I just had a bad endgame linkshell, though job exclusion was a big deal in XI). Loved the look of the base artifact armor and it felt like a different kind of magic but it was a bit too complex to get around.
If Corsair, I'll take it as consolation. They could make the dice mechanic into something else, but knowing CBU they don't do the 1:1 job thing.
Wild card, it's actually Thief because why not? Short sword and Dagger dual melee combo or something.
EDIT Wild card #2: Armsmaster from Octopath II
https://www.ign.com/wikis/octopath-t...r-2/Armsmaster
From article: Armsmaster Equippable Weapons: Polearms, Swords, Daggers, Axes, Bows, Staves --- This seems a lot more plausible so I wonder if the weapon itself morphs into these or we do this ala Noctis from FFXV? If it's this job, feels like other melee DPS are going to be upset because "Mah Job Identity!".
