Bring back unskippable cutscenes.

I didn't deny people can be that way, all I said I haven't seen it go that bad ever, so I just find it hard to believe that this game is at the level of League of Legends. I really haven't seen it once.

But alright. I won't contest it anymore. It's still super weird to me but if more than one people have seen it, then I guess it can happen. If that's the case I think it's an issue that goes way beyond skipping cutscenes and falls more in the category of "People aren't playing the way I want to so I'm rude" thing.

I’d almost agree except it seemed more like white knighting for others as was never the person in cutscene complaining. Just one of those things where it’s the wrong group of people in a mood. Shrug it off, complete the duty and move along

Just because Sprouts don't come to the official forums to complain about missing a CS, or don't choose to say something in game, doesn't mean they don't care; it means they're probably too busy playing the game to go post on Forums, and/or don't want to draw attention to themselves in chat when they already feel inexperienced and uneasy.

The whole, "No, no, beating people should be okay, because I've met multiple people who say they actually really like being beaten" is a poor argument. Nothing is going to be statistically-representative in a sample set like you're going to find replying to OF threads, and that doesn't even account for things like, "Anyone can claim to be a Sprout who feels X way", and "Different personalities self-select into different locations and response-volunteering".

Objectively-speaking, in a story-driven game that inexplicably chooses not to segregate story from game-pacing in content everyone has to repeat over and over again, you're always going to have a conflict between people who've already benefited from the cutscene (and therefore no longer have a vested interest in preserving the experience), and those who still want to see the cutscene (and therefore still have a vested interest in preserving the experience).

Especially because grind-based gameplay, like MMOs, where "time" is the primary difficulty factor, tends to self-select impatient and optimisation-obsessed individuals who become agitated with having to wait 30-60 seconds multiple times in a row.

But we have behavioral legislation in every functioning society precisely because you cannot rely on humans to do things that do not directly benefit themselves. Some will... some won't. Enforcing "cutscene time" is basically behavioral legislation, because you can't rely on 24 people to all be willing to wait 30-60 seconds for someone new to enjoy their experience.

The problem, of course, is that behavioral legislation can go too far... which is why I would rather scrub dishes or wallpaper a flat than ever run Main Scenario Roulette again... ever.

The game is also just really awful at communicating the situation, though — if you're tanking for Alliance A, it's almost impossible to realise that someone in Alliance C needs you to wait, unless someone shouts about it. The game should really pop up a giant "SOMEONE IS CURRENTLY VIEWING A CUTSCENE" warning when you approach a boss... that alone would probably help a great deal with encouraging people to wait.

Because, I feel like in my own experience, ~90% of the time that a cutscene gets whiffed, it's because someone didn't realise a cutscene was even playing. The other ~10%, the puller is just a jerk, but maybe half the time that happens, the raid just patiently lets the early-puller KO.

So my thought would be to focus on better-alerting the raid that someone is watching a cutscene, as a first attempt at a solution. If the problem still persists after that, then discuss the possibility of more draconian measures.

They need to make all cutscenes skippable and just make it where can't attack the boss before they end like how the start of the duty is. Not once from 1.0 beta to now did watch full cutscene in a non-solo duty. I always watched them later on. Why should you be forced a watch the same cutscene daily over and over for years.

I'd also like to mention that there has been a large sum of times where the person watching cutscene is not new. They just don't have autoskip on. I see it all the time. Waiting for cutscenes at the beginning of duties just for it to not say anything about new people, or someone in a farm party watching both the starting and ending cutscene every. time. For 50 runs.

And I have seen people say, "wait for cutscene" despite not having a new person and the game even letting us know that there is not a new person. It's just some level 90 without autoskip on.

Unless that level 90 bought a story skip, but honestly I don't think those people care about the story at all to begin with, otherwise they wouldn't have paid to skip it /shrug

Heck, even on this forum I've seen quite a large number of people say that they'll let cutscene pullers die. That they'll wait outside the gate and leave the puller to their own devices. And I've also seen people say that "It's not hard to not be scum".

Yes, it is simple to report. Never said it wasn't. That wasn't the point of why I brought that up. Someone said they've never seen these "cutscene defenders" and I was just giving examples if what I have seen. Thanks for letting me know something isn't hard when I never said it was, though. o7

It’s indeed weird and has been suggested for Main Scenario roulettes. Because there is 0 point to have the cutscenes if everyone not only saw them a trillion times but want to skip them.

So, this is being talked up HERE, so that it can be offered as a solution to the MSQ roulette.

Course, they tried similar things on the MSQ roulette, people where kicked after the first cutscene to get through it faster, or harrassed until they left (not every time, but enough times to be concerning).

Now, remember, if they DID make the msq roulette less of a pain to complete, they're going to lower the rewards. Possibly down to only 20 or 30 tomestones, and almost no exp bonus.

So, if they "fix" it, the rewards go away too.

I don't know, while I like waiting and I do think people should wait for cutscene enjoyers, at least when the ar is in patch, I like to use that waiting time to look at people's glams and stuff, since if someone's not in your group you can't examine them while the barrier is up a the start, and during the run there's no time for it. Or do whatever emotes and stuff, rather than rewatching the same thign over and over. For sure I dislike the forced mid-fight cinematics normal raids and some trials have, it gets really tiring to sit through them every time.

Even if you buy a skip you're still new to that instance the first time you run it. And it will say new player and show the bonus.
And alliance raids, aside from CT, same as any non-msq content, aren't part of the skip, you have o go and unlock them yourself with all the quests as normal, also.
That said, someone may still buy a skip on an alt cause they don't wanna go through the whole msq again but want to watch that particular cutscene still cause they like it. Although that makes them not new to the instance while being notified as new.

Generally if someone is watching a cutscene they won't be in the room, as you only get teleported inside it once the cutscene is over. And it's easy to see from the alliance interface who is in the room and who isn't. Granted, it does require to pay attention, which most people don't do. But just yesterday for Euphro for example only 1 person was watching cutscene and in a different group, I was keeping an eye on it to know when to place the star, since we were waiting.
