Island Sanctuary is yet another data point in the trend of FF14's downhill spiral

Well a couple points first if there is a congestion issue that to me seems its because its popular. And oh no congestion problems because a game is popular sort of debunks your whole title of ff14 on a downward spiral. Also they have stated a couple time island sanctuary will be added to every couple patches so it was never intended to be a one and done here is everything. Havent seen the ui myself so cant comment but maybe it'll be something they can look at and fix down the line or maybe because its different players dont like it and we'll get used to it.

It's a data point in FF14's upward climb. It's another thing to do in the game that can help it feel like a second life and it's going up because the active player growth in this expansion is a few times higher than other expansions.

They never will. They decided against cloud servers because it would make the quality of the servers worse, but it means they can't scale them as demand increases and decreases. With their own physical computer racks they will always be limited by how many they have.

I found it easy to use and I didn't even read their tutorials.

For me the island is extremely basic. They could have done so much better. Look at Monster Hunter (especially Monster Hunter World), Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley etc.

The level design of the island is bad, there is no verticality, no shortcut, no hidden or hard to reach areas. The animals & the loots remain the same, even depending on the time and the weather. The shinys are way too common. You can't do anything on your friends islands. No random events, no surprises. And I could go on and on.

A procedurally generated island would have been a good idea, with different animals for each players, to make sense of visiting other islands.

I still like it cause it's new & chill, but clearly SE is lazy.

you all are not seeing the writing on the wall right infront of you.
I understand many of us have a attachment to this product but the fact here is the game simply is heading in a direction you will not enjoy in the long-term. Now sure island sanctuaries are not a bad design but it's literally just WoWs Garrisons with less social features because again; the company is ultimately planning on making FFXIV into a offline game in the future.

we are losing our mmo in favor for making a single player game and you're all just cheering.
do any of you actually want to play FFXIV as a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game ten years from now? or do you simply not care and plan on leaving when Riots mmo releases?

There are some things u PERSONALLY dont like and thats what makes u come up with strange stuff to proof, whatever ur point is.
Yes, single player content is in the game.
This happened in various mmo's over the past 2 decades.
And guess what *SPOILER ALERT* it did not break them, it just added opportunities and made things nice for OTHER ppl.
Thanks to those features, im still playin Guild Wars Classic.

Any company is well advised, if they support multiplayer AND single player content in their game.
Everythin else is just blatant naive or simply stupid.

I rly dont understand how ppl can get lost in such a simple design...that UI thing is, what the "Parenting over 9000" ppl cry over every 6-8 months...its for kids.

I literally see zero negativity, not one bad comment and nothing but praise for Island Sanctuaries in game, discord, reddit, twitter...oh forums, never change.

Well answering your end question first providing im not dead and can physically play the game yeah i can see myself playing ff14 a decade from now. Dont get me wrong yeah stuff can happen so planning a decade diwn the road things may very well change. Now personally i dont get why people are so quick to saying "the end is neigh" maybe because they dont approve of certain changes or content or whatever. And no reason to wonder why they want to add the ability to do the MS solo because they told us... they want to open the door for gamers event long term final fantasy fans who opted not to play because they arent into the mmo part but quite honestly i feel the game was more solo oriented then people realize because how many quests were solo instances that if you were grouped up had to drop to do anyhow. Even tribe quests. I remember trying to do some daily with a friend and even though we had opened them up together and on the same stage we had different quests to complete. But there are still lots to do group wise, roulette, raids, pvp, just plain socializing. Simple fact is they just seem to be putting things out there for all types of players.

Perhaps a little hyperbolic.

This is actually the first complaint I've seen about island sanctuary (besides the UI complaints.) I've barely touched it so I can't say how it is personally but everyone else I know seems to like it.

It literally is not hyperbole at all. After playing near constantly since the servers were back up, and being an addict of media about this game, I have literally encountered zero complaints ( other than technical issues due to so many people trying to get in at once) until coming to these forums. Its like an anti-universe here or something.

It respects your time so much, but people wouldn't know what that's like, would they? ...especially out west where we constantly get trapped in PF.


It all starts with respecting your own time. Gather at your own pace. Build at your own pace. Don't get too many animals right away.



You get to a point where the mammets do a lot of the work for you and you earn currency passively. You just need to check in on occasion. In the meantime, there's all that other patch content to enjoy.
