Black screen after launching the game

Got the game to work doing this, but ONLY on direcX 9c, tried too do it on DirectX 11 and the issue persisted, couldn't even open Steam Overlay and the frame rate on DX9 is absolutely abysmal.

Yeah I'm having this same issue and this was the only way i could get in-game but dx9 is... not ideal lol

This works for me, but the game constantly crashes when trying to teleport.

Man, I know Staff is busy but it'd still be nice to see some acknowledgement of this issue.

Having the same issue, also the Steam version. Tried turning overlays off and on, tried changing to DX9 and back to DX11, rolled back to an older NVIDIA driver, went back to the newest one, restored default settings for the game, reinstalled the patches, did a full uninstall and reinstall of the entire game.

Looks like a lot of people are not able to play the game and are having the same issues after the latest patch with the Steam version of the game.
The game was working fine before the patch, but today after downloading/updating it game stopped working.
In some cases, even with the DX9 version (which has a lot of performance issues), the game stops working as well.
Tried a lot of possible fixes with files, re-downloaded the game, drivers, and nothing fixed it.

I have tried all recommendations that I could find so far, including an entire reinstall of the game. I got in once but crashed within 5 minutes and have not been able to get back in since. I get a solid black screen after putting in credentials and hitting play.

I am hoping they find a fix soon. If anyone knows of one, please share.

Had the same issue it seems to be a steam error as far as I can tell, I have tried a bunch of fixes since the patch released but nothing works. I only got into the game once on dx9 but the game crashed almost immediately.

There are a few "fixes" people have found but they don't work for everyone which is really frustrating.

All we can really do is hope square/steam know that its not working and hopefully a fix comes soon.
