True, but i think the issue with Egi Glamours was the amount of animations they would need to create and that a lot of people wanted other primal glamours over new carbuncle colours. I also think they were trying to decide if they were going to keep egi's at all. With how they did the rework, they just need to change the colour of the ruin spell and add 1 new ability for Astral flow.

Ill admit its a hope i do think may not come to pass at all though.

I do not like watching Carby stand around doing nothing. It looks broken. A bit of dps or party heals like a chocobo wouldn't go amiss, I think. A little bit egi, a little bit fairy.

Adding a new Astral Flow ability is significantly more work than just model swapping the old egi, and this can have massive implications to the job's damage. The options they gave us as examples (Ramuh and Sephirot) are already in the game, so the delay becomes even more ridiculous. I would have more faith if they just told us it was cancelled.

To be fair, though, in previous games, Carbuncle as a summon was always a purely defensive spell. I never played XI, so that might be an outlier, but in VI, VIII, and IX it just provided defensive buffs.

To be fair, though, in previous expansions, Carbuncle contributed equally as much as other Summons. I haven’t played 6.1, so that might be an outlier, but in A Realm Reborn, Heavensward, Stormblood, and Shadowbringers it functioned identically to the Egi.

At lower levels Carbuncle still contributes the same, since you summon him before the egi summons just like before 6.0 and you can glamour the egis to still be carbuncles if you want, just like before 6.0

It did attack in FF11.

Anyway, black mages never used ice spells to regain MP either. Can we put the "But in previous FF games .." argument to rest forever?

Certain things in games have identities. Carbuncle has almost always been a defensive buff spell with no damage attached to it. So this current carbuncle is a more faithful adaptation of the spell. Having carbuncle deal damage felt like it made about as much sense as changing Ifrit to being a party heal.

So no, I'm not going to stop basing the identity of characters and effects on previous games.
