We get a scraggly version of Fran's hair
Or as I like to say the great-value brand version

It's really not the same (except it's a ponytail) & it's not her hair
If it were the SAME it would be identical which it is not- hence the definition of SAME- meaning identical
So, if it is not as thick or as long & without a headguard it is... *drum roll* not the same
But w/e helps you at night
Would be nice if the headguard could be added separately but it's attached to a hairstyle which isn't hers on top of it. One has to wonder why that isn't just a simple head item we could use with any of the styles. Like so much with Viera the limitations have been disappointing. One has to wonder how things will change and hopefully not at the expense of how our characters look at the moment.
I like that idea!
I've suggested in the past for Viera to have more optional/ toggle headguards for each hairstyles (Mjrn wears a diadem around her ears that should also have been an option) And imo would have helped curb the need for Hats on Viera to some degree- if the designers had taken more of a risk or creative liberty with the hairstyles by adding more Viera-looking hairs that have the ear guards/headguards
Would support this if it happened. Possibly mog station items!
Also, more racial hairstyles in general for viera and hrothgar.
I think we may not have Fran's hair for the same reason we don't have Yotsuyu's dress: it works on that NPC with the specific, calculated range of movements and camera angles but does not function well in the full range of player movement. I suspect it would stab right through the character's torso in a lot of poses.
Hi, I've played every single FF game out there save for one or two spin-off series (and the various mobile gachas). FF12 is also one of my favorite entries, and Viera were one of the races I'd always wanted to see in here since I began playing back in ARR.
I still think race and gender locking is stupid and should die in a fire. Please don't act like everyone who is against race/gender locking stuff is not a "true FF fan" - it makes you come off as incredibly obnoxious.
I'm all for some more unique racial styles for all races, alongside our all-race options. Viera in particular were stated to be receiving more racial hairstyles to make up for their inability to use common hairstyles, so we do have that to draw on with regards to requests. That said, they clearly are trying to fix their problem re: all-race hairstyles first. People want to be able to use hairstyles they've unlocked or bought; prioritizing the ability for Viera to wear any of the available all-race hairstyles makes sense, and will already provide us with far more options than we have at the moment. They've already 'fixed' male Viera to make this process easier - I anticipate they'll eventually try to get female Viera adjusted in this manner as well.
Frankly, giving people more options lends itself far better towards individuality than limiting them. Look at all the copycat Viera we have now due to how limited their hairstyles have been; this problem would not go away even if we got more unique racial styles that no one else could have, because people will inevitably flock to the same few different styles. At least with more all-race options unlocked, there is more room for crafting a unique look.
For some reason, you and people like you - who support racial/gender locks - seem to think limiting things like this means it'll make that race more unique - and no, it doesn't.
Unique from other races? Somewhat, though the fact Viera have rabbit ears already separates them from other races.
But then you have a thousand of that race looking like they walked out of an Allagan cloning machine.
That isn't fun for players. Do you want to look exactly the same as your friend IRL, down to exact hairstyle, eye color, face shape? Most people don't. Why would you want to look like every other player in a video game where you can customize your avatar?
It was never really the hairstyles that made Viera unique in FF12 anyway; it was their bestial attributes, the claws and digitigrade feet. Their clothing. Their long rabbit ears. Their way of life.
Sadly the claws/feet are not possible given the way things are built in this game, not to mention the nightmare it'd be to adjust armor for them (Hrothgar suffer from this as well). But with the myriad clothing options we have, the color options we have in character creation, and the rabbit ears, they are still wholly unique from other races - just as Miqo'te are unique from all other races, including the other two tailed races.
Saying that we're owed 'special things' because of the issues with the race is just incredibly entitled - they've already made a lot of headway towards fixing the problems with Viera, which is all anyone ever wanted to begin with. I'd gladly take the ability to use any of the currently available all-race hairstyles, over 1 new racial style every 2 years or something. Saying we're owed 'special things' because Viera and Viera alone deserve to be more unique is incredibly entitled. All we're really "owed" is being brought up to the standard of the other races - anything more is just icing on the cake.
