Exclusivity and the potential downfall of the game.

Relic weapons were always a grindfest that needed little to no skill at all. Bozja actually forced players through 3 "raids" to get their weapons plus a ton of other quests and grinds. If that is less "exclusive" than the previous weapons, especially the farm x poetics and get your weapon HW relic, please i would love to hear your thoughts on that.

Relics were always ment to be a casual grind, from ARR to Shadowbringers and probably also in Endwalker. What makes the stuff you get through raids etc. exclusive is the time you have with the gear/glam before everyone else gets it, that's it. You can show off your stuff for a while until everyone else gets it.

Kind of a messy OP I don't entirely get the point.

All I think that might be somewhat related to this is that relics shouldn't have better stats than raid weapons.

But that’s not prestige.

1.0 wasn’t just “considered bad”. it WAS bad. Putting aside all of the horrible gameplay choices and JUST speaking based off of graphics - a single flower pot had 1k polygons (which is equal to a player character.) Now imagine that times how many flower pots you’d see ingame.

Anyone who didn’t have a 100% top of the line $2k+ pc was playing the game while risking their graphics card failing. PCs at the time were not built to handle that.

On top of that, the game itself had extreme lag, NO armory system (you’d have to carry everything in your regular inventory). At least you wouldn’t have to worry about selling it off though, because you’d be able to focus on what you’re selling off considering it took HOURS just to sell off mob loot.

Fatigue systems*, constant lag, etc etc. Your character disappearing and reappearing anytime you swapped out gear. No sprint, having to use a slowly-recharging “Anima” to teleport (and by slowly i mean you’d have to run EVERYWHERE).

You’d need drops from level 20 mobs to make level 10 gear. The UI was so laggy that just to OPEN the menu would take 2-3 secs. The main storyline ended at level 43 - in the middle of the story, for seemingly no reason.

*The fatigue system was a system that punished players who earned too much exp by making it so that the exp you earned would decline all the way down to zero. Effectively, it was limiting how long you could play the game.

This was all from a single search of “How bad was 1.0 FFXIV really?” and about 10 mins of reading.

TRUST ME when I say it is not a symbol of prestige - it’s the devs thanking 1.0 players for sticking through how bad it was.

lol you can take my word after I got my Paladin resistance relic I am not likely to grind out another one. That grind is horrible. Hell the only reason you can get any of the other relics is because we are 30 levels higher then the original content. I mean let me tell you light farming was SOOOOOOOO much fun.

We are not all Desperius. At most normal people will get maybe 1 or 2 of the original legendry's from across the expansions. They are far from easy to get. If you want people to stop getting them tell the devs to stop making them look cool. Changing one step in the current Resistance weapon questline for relics that are mehhhhh looking at best is a good idea to keep the current player base engaged.

ALSO the true exclusive items in this game come from Ultimates and things like the Necromancer title.

not sure what you are on about really. sure... relic weapons are made "easier" to acquire, but thats why none of them have become very common. because you may think they are "easier" but to most, its a painful and long slog through a lot of mind number things. by the time a majority get to the upper tiers of the bozjan relics, Endwalker will have dropped and they suddenly will have no time for that, time sink, which is what relics are designed for, wasting time for those waiting on the next expansion. Then, as always, those dedicated enough will go through it for teh glam.

point being, anyone that goes through the entire, lengthy grindy process to get the end result relic, deserves it. period.

How do you unlock it?

Relics don't outdo raid weapons ever.

And TBH raid weapons have no point except bragging rights, like almost every reward in the game, because outside that or the very next raid your item level gets synced down for everything anyway.
