It isn't really that big a deal, most people who want Chemist aren't going to think its weird that we already have Alchemist as a DoH. Plus (Al)Chemist has worked well for battle in other games its been a part of, in fact for X-2 it was my go to for healing.
Personally my only problem with this concept is the "edgy" armor part, I get that people want something different from the current healer standard but that just seems to be trying to hard at being different. But nothing wrong with wanting something new design wise.
...I also have had my own thoughts on Chemist, namely that its heals would actually use the Duty Action now that we have two instead of one. When you load in with Chemist healer everyone starts with 1 standard potion, the Chemist can make more of varying types to "throw out" at targeted people or the whole group with certain skills being an immediate but less potent effect. The big problem with this being that it requires the other players to use the action to heal themselves and not, say, blame the Chemist for not healing them when they were in fact playing as (I) intended. I, uh, just wanted to throw this out there.
