Astrologian Cards Can't Be a Coin Flip: A petition

The least SE could have done is make the utility aspects (mitigation and mana regen) A part of their cooldown usage.
If they were regarded as overpowered then simply give it a lower potency.

But this... this isn't Astrologian. Machinist has more interesting choices than this.

ah man, they ruined my basketball gambler class. playing the card part was the most fun part of astrologian for me, and now its lame. A fantasy game isnt all about balance, simplicity and consistency. Its also about fun and engaging gameplay. Theme of astrologian is luck, time and fate. This is dumb

People just have different opinions on what 'utility' actually means. I believe utility to be more than 'increase DPS for party member(s)'. Restoring resources, reducing damage taken, increase healing received, increase other stats(like crit, direct hit ect.) - those are utility too. While not required all the time, those things CAN be of use.

Raw dps increasing utility in my eyes is the weakes of all utilities, more so if it a really consistent one, up to the point where you could say that dps utility is nothing more than shifting your personal dps to other party members.

its not about power level, its about choices, playing the card minigame, and using the right cards at the right time. I could care less who was the top heal class in a savage raid. They could give whm a pearl spell which pulse dps every time they heal for all i care. This just gutted one of the most entertaining parts of the class.

I don't mind balancing really. We basically lost 5 situational yet powerful(if drawn under their respective circumstances) cards, so now we can draw only the same one all the time. I am not sure of other astrologiens, but for me... astrologian gameplay just lost its depth. I'd rather see a nerfed version of what astrologians are now, than the astrologian we are getting with 5.0, if that makes sense?
It comes down to personal preferences though, since there appear to be many players who even favor the loss of non-dps utility for consistend dps utility.

Like this poster replied, I don't care about having "top spot" as much as losing all choices and decision making from the job.

I run a lot of content through DF, and it was fun being flexible with cards. "Oh this tank is taking a lot of dmg... guess I'll fish for enhanced Bole for them." of "This 2nd DPS is doing everything in their power to stand in every single AoE... guess I'll save this Ewer for myself and single target Balance and Time Dilation on the other DPS that isn't dying."


As far as raid comps go... AST still buffs dmg so... I don't imagine it'll be losing its spot anytime soon.

Cards are single target and lost half their duration. Currently, you can start with AoE Balance on the entire party for 45 seconds (if C-Opp'd). That is significantly better than two single target cards for 15 seconds. In what world is this a buff?

The current estimation going around is AST's raid utility dropped from 1,000-1,500 to 300-600.

I'm glad for the change mostly cause now I won't have to be fed troll cards on monk cause they feeling trolly. Now having all the cards do buff damage makes the most sense and is what 80% of dps want astro to use anyway. There is a reason Astros were made to -fish- for The Balance. So making all the cards that remain buff damage this is a win. Sides they had to change a few of those cards cause TP is dead and we still don't know how that effects damage and MP. So Astro being untouched after those two changes to the battle system is laughable at best.

I'm not trying to throw shade.. but I have to ask was there REALLY such a choice I keep seeing people say they lost? Cause as far as I know... everyone wanted you to use BALANCE. Noone cared about anything else.

Spear for Bards (10% bonus to crit), Arrow for whoever needs/wants faster cast/recast time, Ewer for mana shortage or helping your co-healer get some MP back when Lucid was down, Bole on tank to spam gravity a couple more times, Spire for when the WAR/DPS ran out of TP because no one uses Goad. Using Bole to enhance cards for extra strength or Spear/Arrow to extend a card for whatever reason.
Just about every card has a situation use, I only ever fished for nothing but Balance on a full-party instance. And if your luck ran short and your redraw wasn't something useful you could just feed the card to the Lord/Lady for some DPS or a free OGCD heal.
