Alphascape 4.0 is worse than Flowerpot

I haven't noticed any issues with my PS4 - not to say that they never happened, but not enough to remember.

That does remind me that a common complaint with the game The Last Guardian was framerate slowdown, but I noticed very little issues myself - just occasional times where it was loading a large area. But other people seemed to think it was a major issue.

I don't have a Pro, but my PS4 was quite new at the time, so I wondered if it's not just a matter of "normal vs Pro" but whether there's difference in performance between different types or ages of normal PS4 consoles.

1920x1080=2073600 pixels
2560x1440=3686400 pixels

In Limsa Lominsa, my 1070 got 95fps under 1080p,
but only 58-65fps under 2K, it's even slower than a 970(by~10%) under 1080p
2K needs a lot more power to render

And I've tried 4K (real 4K, Win10 dpi set to 100%), & 1070 FPS drop to 25 in Limsa Lominsa
3840x2160=8294400 pixels，it‘s 4 times than 1080p

I don't mind to turn the settings down if XIV has the same level of graphic quality as XV,
but this is XIV, a game released in 2013....FXAA, low quality textures, many things are dated
& Alphascape4.0 looks too bland if I turn HBAO+ off

Why I said Alphascape4.0 is worse than flowerpot, it's because the XIV 1.x developers had put some efforts to create a beautiful flowerpot。
but Alphascape 4.0, The developers put a huge amount of polygons on the ground,
and it looks not very nice, & they are just some copy & paste. it's only laziness， just wasting resources

So you want us to battle Omega... in the flowerpot?

Because otherwise I don't know why you're equating the two.

One is a matter of (in)efficient modelling, the other is about art design.

It wouldn't matter whether we are playing with pixel sprites or 1.0's graphics or seamless virtual reality - we are still going to be battling Omega in an abstract galactic void.

I want to battle Omega in a carefully designed, cool, nice looking battle field
not battle it in a flowerplot, or in a lazy designed flat ground(& it eats up a lot of GPU power, that makes it worse)
is that clear? sorry for my poor english

The reason why we only fight on flat circular arenas (sometimes squares or rectangles) is because of Twintania and the Glitchy Boogaloo. it's unfortunate, but at least SE are finding ways to include the ground itself into mechanics in some shape or form depending on the fight.
Savage version of the fight gets a neat looking background once you clear the gate.

hate to say it but given every raid boss arena has been either a circle a square or a rectangle and they tied omega with space not much they could do to make a circular platform interesting better to look at the outside of the arena as that is where the nice pretty stuff is anyway would i like a fight that uses and changes the ground like Halicarnassus again sure 9/10 ain't going to happen though least alpha 4 is better than sigma 4 savage platform as i can see it way more clearly >__> so many run offs
Currently have no noticeable drop rates on ps4 pro for it so it may very well be what the ps4 was manufactured with later models tend to have better parts

Just means they can focus on making the mechanics and such without having to worry about glitches or exploits players could find (Twintania's battlefield was closed for awhile in 2013, if I recall) and possibly never report. I get sick of the circular arenas as well, but I can look past that if the mechanics are neat, or keep me focused on the fight (the second Pantokrator in V11S is a trip).

Sorry, sarcasm doesn't travel over text. You said you wanted a flowerpot instead of Omega's arena.

I do realise you didn't mean to equate the two, but your statement doesn't make sense. I don't see how they're related.

You'd still get the same "lazy" Omega arena regardless of how many polygons are in the flowerpot.

Anyway, it's not lazy just because you don't like the design of it.



And while I don't understand all this talk of computer settings (and I'm playing on PS4 so it doesn't matter to me), it sounds like you're turning them up way past what the program is expected to run on. Take the advice of the other people who seem to know what they're talking about, and see if it helps.
