25 seconds is better because it gives more uptime and makes PLD feel better to play, it might be a nerf (I don't know the maths) but from a playstyle perspective I have to be more aware of my buffs and need to balance requiescat and FoF usage, which is a lot of fun and a lot more gameplay than PLD had ever had.
Okay so I'll try to help here... Shield Swipe should be used as much as possible. It's actually free damage and enmity since it is not on the GCD. Use Sheltron to proc shield swipe. You should be able to get at most 4 a min, which is a whopping 600 potency. Shield Oath is trash. Horrible gauge generation and almost entirely useless. Swap out of that ASAP so you can build faster and proc shield swipe more using Sheltron.
DO NOT USE FLASH IN requiscat. Do not use flash period on single target. Ever. Use Halone combo 1 or 2 times depending on how geared you are & how much your party controls aggro then never again.
Every minute use Fight or flight before goring, do two Royal combos then end on Goring and start Requiscat combo.
I will agree somewhat with the OP’s sentiment in that I think they could find ways to make shield swipe more interesting and useful. As is, it’s just something you hit when it lights up and it serves absolutely no purpose when you’re off tanking unless you block an aoe or decide to sheltron an aoe for some reason.
Can’t edit on mobile, but a few ideas I had was refreshing the cooldown and lighting it up whenever someone you intervene/cover takes damage.
Also, removing its cooldown when bulwark is up.
The only changes i’d like to see to PLD atm are clemency giving gauge in shield oath the same way Holy Spirit does, I feel this makes sense considering you’re more likely to be on the defensive and healing yourself in shield oath than nuking with Holy spirit.
And requiscat duration being extended by a second to account for server lag, as an EU player on an NA server that tight timer drives me nuts.
I’d also like to see a change to the way blocking works so it compliments casting rather than opposing it but that’s more a change to game mechanics than PLD.
I mean, we can't deny it's a very boring ability, but at least it's off the GCD now. Remember when it wasn't?
