i agree for the most part but since he said they are 7/8 and can't get a permanent 8th member i assume they all just roll on upgrade items so that it doesn't get lost to the group entirely.

it's not fair to ask a random to fill out your group and ask them to pass for a guy that can't roll higher than 34.

I was separating them on the confines of main stat. There have been past gear using various types not normally associated with them, like back in ARR days with healers using armorcraft. Tracking the type of armor is just as pointless as names; the only thing that really matters is what that means for stats across the classes and what values they'd end up with. Dragoon armor tends to have more physical defense on it than striking as well as being bulkier in looks 'cause half-plate. Could be remedied with a hidden class modifier. If we'd like to debate looks and generally expected gear types, ninjas and others classified as rogues generally don leather as it provides mobility and increased protection for hand-to-hand combat. However, this isn't DnD, where such stuff really matters.

The number of type of DPS in the composition doesn't really matter. Other than upkeep for mechanics, you can feasibly run 3 of any of the types and make it work. Or 2. Or 1. Or 0. You have enough mitigation spread throughout tanks, healers and DPS to make up discrepancies. It's mainly when it comes to speedrun kills for parsing do you really run into X is better than Y.

My comment on naming sets was more of a dismissal of separating than actually opening a debate over the actual naming. However, this has turned into a tangent for what was meant to be an armor-type reduction suggestion to help cut down on "worthless" gear dropping.

My only issues are: the 2 chests being nulled so easily, why can't it still gives 2 chests up to 3 players having already completed, 1 for 4-7 and 0 for 8, it's not like you're allowed to roll on it anyway.

And the page cost does seem a little extreme, esp for body/legs, I feel like they should all be reduced by 2 weeks. Wep can stay 8.

MNK and NIN aren't rogues, but even leather would be fine. the issue is keeping the aesthetics of Dragoons away from Monks.

that makes it too easy for carries and sells and they do not want that out of their highest level of content. a little more leniency would be nice but your suggestion is too much. 7 helpers and still get 1 chest is way too extreme. if half the group or more are just helping 0 chests make sense.

Well yes, I know that. That still doesn't make an i335 weapon the "equivalent" of an i345 weapon, since it's 10 iLvls lower (which is fine, since it'll likely take less effort to clear The Royal Menagerie EX compared to v4s).
I'm not disagreeing with your statement on the loot lockout being in place for current raids, I'm just pointing out an error in your post.

However, it would be nice if they could cut the page/deltalog cost by 25%, as that wouldn't have too big of an impact on the progression gap you mentioned.

that's exactly what I said yes, like many others pointed out, on paper it sounds good. on practice is horrible and without luck like some others round here you will spend months without upgrades. also on the topic of 24-man I was talking about my personal opinion on SQ free handing upgrades but making us spend 4 weeks to get 1 and even more if you haven't cleared v3 yet you aren't getting any left side upgrades. so why make it so strick to get from the actual hard content if you are going to give it free for the easy one doesn't make sense to me.

Personally, I'd love it if books from earlier/later tiers could be pooled to buy upgrades. I have all these datalogs from O1S I don't need any more. But if, say, 5 of them and 1-3 datalogs from O2S could redeem a glaze, I'd be much happier.

There are 7 of us, up only recently from 6. Everyone who I regularly run with would be happy to pass - but the single dps we pug won't, so they roll anyway because I can't roll for crap.

How about you get your loot everytime on the first kill?
