Lazy Healers In Parties of Eight

I apply the same mentality I follow with casters as I do with healer by following the ABCs. Always be casting.

You're absolutely right! Surely nothing will go wrong when i run myself out of MP spam casting Broil!

I come from a healing background where if i wanted my MP to last the whole fight, I needed to stop casting altogether and work with my co-healers so that we could alternate taking breaks to allow for natural regen. Yay the old mp/5 rule.
So no, I will not needlessly blow all my MP casting spells on every GCD, I will throw DPS when i have the time, spare MP and party status is acceptable.

You're not gonna run out of MP doing damage as SCH unless people are dying left and right and needing res.

If you're running out of MP when not raising a bunch then something is wrong.

I'm a now an official Samurai main. I'm tired of SE not being able to balance healing jobs. I'm tired of the crap that sig highlights. I've gotten crap for doing DPS and I've gotten crap for being caref

I'd rather a healer who can do both. A balance of DPS and healing.

I think most of you guys are missing the point of the thread. The OP is talking about Healers that are literally just standing around doing absolutely nothing leaving the other healer to fend for themselves. Think of it like the PvP problem we had with people just AFKing, but apply it to PvE content instead. Honestly, I have seen this behaviour lately especially in the final Stormblood trial and the new Normal mode Raid tier (there were points where the other healer would intentionally jump off the platform). I wonder why.

Up until 4.0 SCH had by far the best sustained damage of any healer. I've heard some MP horror stories since then but even if they're all true FFXIV was definitely designed with Always Be Casting in mind. I can count on one hand the number of times I've had to stand there in a fight for mana to regen as a healer since I figured out how the basics work.

Basically you always have the MP to do damage unless you're in an awful group or some real lag haplens and people die. Saying otherwise is best case uninformed and worst case just plain lying.

#1 Reason why sch wins in prog but loses its place in farm. Whm or ast can do it alone.
