You want to see healers wearing dragoon sets?
It's about letting the jobs keep their visual identity. While I agree the fact we can have all the jobs on a single character does cheapen or at least take away some of that exclusivity/uniqueness feel to the jobs. I feel like letting their personal gear be spread across EVERYTHING is a little much. Though, one could also make the argument that while sure a Monk could glamour the pants from a BRD artifact set, those pants still belong to the BRD and the set overall still belongs to their visual identity.
But there is also the argument that people glamour their jobs to such a degree that the only thing making you go "Oh, that person is a WAR." is the fact they have a big axe on their back and they have WAR's moves. It's a very nuanced argument with a very fine thread you gotta balance on. That's why I say, at least dungeon sets that are just recolors upon recolors shouldn't have class restrictions on glams.
I actually think that's a pretty good analogy from that stand point. However as Mimilu below me puts it. You then have those themed weddings where you got the groom dressed as Han Solo and the bride dressed as Leia and the officiate is Vader for some reason. Again, very nuanced discussion here, where the ultimate question is. Where do you draw the line?
If you are a dragoon then why not , I could see if you never picked up the job before but if you are that job already then yes. So you need no explanation on how you can be a healer and a dragoon in the first place, but you need one for why a healer can wear , a dragoon set?
Because it's a video game.
The answer to everything in this thread is "because it's a video game". Glamour itself is already more freedom than I'd like, but it's freedom I can tolerate. We don't need to go any farther than we already have, because there are plenty of options out there as it is, and we get new ones every patch, with old off-limits articles occasionally being released for other jobs later down the line.
Eeehhhh but the problem is, that argument can go both ways. Because it's just a video game, why fret so much over the jobs keeping their unique appearance? Why care if a Monk can wear DRG armor? It's just a video game. Thing is, everyone enjoys the game in different ways, I mean look at those guys over on Diablos who are holding a legit theater style play. Everyone experiences the game differently, some do it for the endgame raids, some do it for the rich lore and to others, glamours are the endgame. Different strokes for different folks man.
You could but that doesn't necessarily mean you should. Lore is law, and from what we know from, ie. WHM lore, WHM gear is only applicable to WHM because it has been blessed by the Elementals/the Padjal, and only blessed so that it works in amplifying WHM abilities, etc.
I don't, the lore devs do.
Yes buuuuut, with how glamours work in this game lore wise. It doesn't actually trample on the lore, glamours are merely an illusion spell. Not us actually putting the gear on. We make one piece of gear look like another piece of gear, that does not mean it comes with all the lore behind it. We are just borrowing that robe's appearance, not its blessings and enchantments.
It would be more constructive to request a similar item in the existing glamour gear request thread, than to re-write the established game lore because you want a glamour. If you want one-legged pants, ask for that and see where it takes you.
Personally, I'd rather there be more restrictions on what you can glamour (bikinis in dungeons is dumb, imo).
