Special Mounts

All of the mounts are awesome, but seriously excited over riding on top of a Goobbue !

Drake? Sure. Looks legit.
Ahriman? You're riding the head of a cyclops with wings.
Goobbue? Now you're trying too hard.

Not everything can be a mount. Most mobs will look ridiculous. You can't just ride on something. To me it has to be a mob that you can stick some form of saddle on, not hold onto the antenna of a bug for dear life.

Yah its things like that and the fact that even ones like the Ahriman dont seem like "tameable" monsters. Id prefer they make unique monsters, or ones we havent seen and tie them into lore so its not just people riding giant green monsters....because....

^^^ This is the exact thing I'm worried about. ^^^

It seems that too many people can't see past their own character to focus on the big picture. They think "OMG how l33t will I look riding a Goobbue/Ahriman/Drake/etc..", but never consider how silly it will look when everyone else is doing it too.

Of course, its just a reward for current players, right? Well, once that door is open, we will see players clamoring for mounts of every shape and size. It's a bad road to go down.

Every addition in an MMO needs to be multiplied by 100x to get an idea of how it will appear and affect the game.


The proper thing to do is to implement this mount system as part of a Beastmaster Taming ability. If high-level BST could tame and ride mobs like that into battle, It would give the mounts a purpose as well as integrate them better into the world.

I'm inclined to agree; but being a player who's actually wanted the drake the entire time wants me to avoid telling people who legitimately want to ride other things that their wishes are silly. I don't really see any purpose to riding most of the mentioned mobs other than aesthetic shits and giggles (remember the goobbue racer?) BUT - drakes seem legit. Hogs, maybe, too.

Short Lala riding a massive Goobbue? Oh yeah, I'm all over that.
