My concerns about a "worldless model" what are yours?

The community of a server is mostly segregated into LSes which more often keep to themselves than socialize with others. There are exceptions of course, but introducing a dungeon finder won't have a negative impact on them. Maybe after this is introduced you won't have to wait for eons to get a dungeon party started.

As for the concern about bad apples, you'll get those with the current server system too.

Time sinks, that's what they are and they ain't no fun lol. It is funny how people complain about concepts that cut down on time sinks cause in the end that's what they are producing, they are actually producing concepts to cut on the time sinks. How evil of them!

A game is all about having fun. While you have fun when you claim an NM, the other 3 parties who lag 0.1 sec more than you - do not. It is selfish to agree to such gameplay.

I log in to play a game not wait for someone to kill an NM.

I log in to run a raid, not wait 3 hours for full party.

Maybe in the FFXI days waiting for hours was a standard. Games today supply you with entertaiment from the second you log in to the second you log out. If FFXIV want to ever be able to compete other MMORPG it should adopt all and any system that helps doing it.

A new player will easily pick another game where he can play from the moment he log in over a game he can not play until certain conditions are met which usually take few hours to fulfill.

That is just not fun.

Pretty much exactly this^

A lot of people I know only play with others in th LS and avoid randoms like the plague, myself included. It won't affect people who only play with their LS/friends anyway. Therein lies the solution if you don't want to use the content finder. Make some friends or get into an active LS. At that point it doesn't matter what anyone else on any other server is doing, you will have people to play with.

The ONLY way I would have an issue with the content finder is if there were events that you were REQUIRED to queue up for and had no choice to just go with a party of friends/LS mates. If I am ever FORCED to use it I will have an issue with it. There is no evidence suggesting such a thing would happen though.

I agree with what you're saying here, but the argument I think a few, including myself are trying to make ( and this is purely opinion ) is that the dungeon finder system can slowly destory just what you are saying. Yes atm people pretty much only do things with their ls. Lets stop for a second, reset the game, start it with dungeon finder. I personally don't think all of those same people, will revert back to only doing things with their ls. They don't have to anymore. Now, instead of grouping up with people of like minds who are already in their ls, they can just random que. I'm not saying everyone would follow the trend, but I think XIVs people atm like you are describing are how they are, in part, because there is no dungeon finder.

I love how so many are behaving as if this was a mandatory feature. Just like one wasn't forced to use the auto-group feature in XI, you aren't being forced into using the content finder. You will still be able to get people together from your own world and do events, just like you have been. People really need to get a grip and stop acting like such damned drama queens.

I'd also like to say (again, all my opinion only) that there is quite a few things from wow that I always wished were in xi, and that I wish now were in xiv (I use wow as an example because it has stream lined the mmo standard, I think this is a fact). One thing though, I do not wish xiv, or any mmo to come to adopt, is wow's community. The community in xi was the single greatest part of the game (again, my opninion). Camping hnms for hours was horrible, logging in and waiting for hours to form groups was stupid. But the community that game created was amazing. I'm not saying "omg don't add dungeon finder", i'm merely trying to make the argument for others to consider the implications it might add.

I don't know, I mean people will always come together and form groups like Linkshells regardless of the game and systems in it. I mean people in WoW still make and use guilds all the time. Everyone I know who plays WoW plays almost exclusively with their guild. Plus with Free Companies coming, and all their benefits, it would only make sense that people will continue making, joining and playing within these Free Companies and Linkshells. Just because people can play without a Linkshell/Company doesn't mean they will.

Even in lobby-based games with limited to no guild features and absolutely no reason to do so, people still create them. Most people enjoy having a group of friends and people they can rely on to play with. I mean I know I avoid randoms entirely because I just don't trust anyone off the street to know how to play well, and often I'm right. I know people who had random parties struggle with Ifrit or even the ogre in Darkhold. If I were to do those things with a group from my LS, I know we would be assured swift victory because I know that those people know what they're doing.

The only drama I read on this entire post was from you sounding upset.

Yes you don't have to use the dungeon finder, and when it was first introduced into wow, people said the exact same thing on their forums.

Just how many people do you think don't use it now?

I get that not all people have tons of time to spend playing games. They want instant gratification. And I"m not saying dungeon finder is the devil. I just hope it doesn't ruin the single greatest aspect I was hoping to find when ffxiv was released, the one thing I missed about xi, the close knit community.

Upset? If anything I am just amused at how childish people get over inconsequential things. When someone starts crying that the game is now going to be lobby based, or that no-one will ever want to interact with their own world, they're being overdramatic. Greatly overdramatic.

I don't see the problem with it, I pug in SWTOR all the time for the flashpoints and it's usually with strangers sometimes friends. Sometimes you get griefers or whiners, sometimes you get really good people. You are always going to have this happen, it was in FFXI despite the 'awesome' community too. If anything I find XI people tend to get blinders on because they are so used to playing with just their LS(s), forum friends ect... XI made it easy to forget there were also random people out there since there was no global chat.
