Should I be annoyed?

I see as many face-palm inducing tanks and healers. Does that mean I should open a thread in the tank and healer forums asking "Should I be annoyed by bad players being bad?"

No.

It means I pull up my britches, slaughter things wholesale, get my tomes, and get out.

It means I don't create a circle jerk thread that puts the blame of all my misfortune on somebody else while nicely excluding any of the times I may have personally bit the dust or !#@%ed it up royally.

In short; The forum needs less of this, not more.

There's already a thread on the Healer Forum that's basically the same as this. It's not a "circle jerk", it's a thread where people can blow off steam or share bad experiences. There is also a thread where people discuss times they screwed up and caused wipes. Just because a thread complains aboutbad DPS does not mean the posters think they are perfect.

There was/is also a thread in the Healer Forums that was specifically for complaining about bad healers. Most people just who criticized the thread complained the title was too exclusive (it was something like Wtf Mage or something, so was basically a WHM thread).

Sure, there's nothing wrong with being annoyed.

It's all in how your react to the annoyance that you feel. If your blowing up every sub-par DPS that you run into on a DF duty then your gonna have a very abysmal time playing this game. DF parties are gonna be sub-par nearly half the time, which is why the DF exists in the first place. Whether or not it's right won't affect the reality.

You can ask and prod politely, but don't let it ruin your time. Find a buddy or two and team up with them if you can. That way your guaranteed to at least have a decent party.

Which particular songs, in which particular dungeon instances?

I have yet to run into a situation where a well-made tank or melee DPS runs out of TP in a level 50-or-less dungeon; some of the songs only work if there are MP-based DPS in the group (not talking about healers here ...); and most well-made healers I've encountered don't appear to run out of MP either. That's it for 'songs' in the 50-and-under crowd, unless you want to run faster ...

Or were you complaining about asking for a particular song in an instance and then not getting one?

The segue from "Especially ninjas" to Bardish songs and then back to Ninjas was just a tad confusing, by the way.

The thing is if you get a bad healer or tank who drops aggro or lets people die a lot, they usually get burned for it and a lot of the time they get votekicked. If a DPS is lazy nobody bats an eyelash unless they're being exceptionally bad, it's just a lot easier to get away with in on DPS than it is on the other roles. I can tell you a decent few times where I've messed up personally in dungeons but I can tell you a million more where I was irked by somebody being exceptionally bad.

Responding to the thread topic though I personally find it annoying when I drop into a dungeon, pull 3-4 groups of mobs as a tank, and the pack is getting tickled down while one mob is nearly dead because one of the DPS is only single-targeting on like ten mobs. The worst part is you tend to get the whole "let me play my job!!" attitudes whenever you ask them to use their aoe.

I can't exactly argue, but at the same time I don't see the harm. If someone wants to complain lethat them. If you don't want to see someone complain then stay away from the thread. Sometimes you have a bad run and you just want to blow off some steam. Someone shouldn't be criticized for that. Also, last I checked, there aren't any threads specifically about bad DPS. The ones in the Healer Forum are focused on a healer's pov and experience (bad tank, bad dps, lazy cohealer).

Only use Doton in a group of targets when it will last its' entire duration, or if you are using Kassatsu (it makes all ticks Crit). Doton is intended for AoE and bosses are generally a single target, so Doton would be inferior to your single target Ninjutsu.
