No, you stand there with your hand on an arrow in your quiver for 1.5 seconds and then whip it out and shoot it exactly like always.

It's less "drawing your bow" and more "thinking for a bit about if you really want to shoot that arrow".

Next expansion, Bards will all be pacifists doing nothing but playing songs because after all that consideration, they realized they really didn't want to shoot that arrow.

That's the Paragon route. The Renegade path will be while you decided you didn't really want to shoot the arrow, instead you really wanted to STAB them with the arrow. New song-stance: you lose all your range and become melee, but everything is back to instant cast.

That's on your group. Probably had a pair of bards who refuse to adapt to wm. My easiest a1 was with 2 bards, a monk, and a dragoon.

Oh and about the QoL Issues, it would be nice if straight shot procs would show up immediately but it really isn't a game breaking issue, the same goes for having the ridiculously rare occasion of a missed bloodletter proc. It seems like people keep trying to find things to whine about when the class is really 95% right now.

We've seen enough bards crying more than the average 1-month old, I don't see why you find something productive to cry about.

Of course the class if fine, you just have to ignore anything remotely wrong with it. 95% is good enough, no need to actually have a 100% functioning class. What's another 800-1200 damage to a class that's main role is to deal damage. Just like a DRG shouldn't need to bother ever trying to proc their position bonuses. Hell, a BLM should just take their time in UI and let Firestarter fall off. All that is clearly too bothersome.

I guess they didn't need to bother changing the cast time on Minuet either. It was just 3 seconds of standing there doing nothing. If you had to interrupt it while dodging, well, that's just how things go I guess.

Patronizing silly comments aside, here's an honest quandary: You say you are okay with not doing as much damage as you could be, that you're fine with missing procs. You could be maximizing your potential, but you decide that what you do is enough. Why?

it feels like I see more bards than any other DPs, and to be honest most are mediocre or bad. The ones in my FC though are quite good, and I use them to remind me to curb any bias.

I really dont think BRD's will just stay as is for long.

We got some 'emergency tweaks' with HW's first patch but they specifically said they'll be watching for any feedback before making any further changes to BRD and all other classes.

And there has been A LOT of feedback. Mostly whining but as they say, 'squeaky wheel gets the oil' (or something). I definitely think we'll see changes coming to WM. Doesnt necessarily mean we're getting our mobility back (fine by me) but I do think they need to iron out some of the kinks with it.

As for the BRD "hatred." I guess its possible some players picked it for "mobility" so I can understand their frustration. However IMO, this problems is rooted on the lack of place the devs have with BRD's. They obviously have no idea wtf they want to do with BRD's and their role. There is no support role, but even Yoshi says theyre support. On the other hand players who picked up BRD were told from the start theyre DPS, their place in DF is DPS... yet their DPS suffers because of some support abilities they have which more and more classes are also sharing without any penalty.

Just pick something already! Either add a 5th support role to groups and give BRD's a more robust list of buffs... or balance the support between other classes and stop penalizing our DPS for it.

If its going to be DPS I think BRD's still need a couple buffs. Maybe a return of the AutoAttack, which makes no sense anyway. Yeah, some BRD's are hitting 1-1.2k but that seems to be a few 'creme de la creme' raiders out there with top tier gear and some luck. Call me crazy, but it seems to me BLM's, SMN's, DRG's and even WAR's(?) are having an easier time consistently getting those numbers.

Same with MCH's who seem to have been thrown into the same "ambiguous role" that BRD's are in even though theyve been advertised as DPS since they were announced.
