SMN Thunder says, "Hi!"
Every ninja crying about getting positionals. Meanwhile Monks are sitting back and laughing.
Probably because it would have been mentioned if that were the case. Saying "we're giving ninjas more abilities along the lines of sneak attack/trick attack" is very different from "we're giving ninja positional requirements".
Common sense points to them doing something to the existing combos. I doubt they'd waste the abilities gained from 52-60 just to introduce one brand new combo with positional requirements and call it a day (not to mention the stuff currently in-game gives NIN enough to do while covering damage buff, DoT and straight out damage). I also doubt they would throw in just one ability as a third combo for Gust Slash with a positional requirement and call it a day.
Who knows, the concerns might be completely unfounded and the changes would be minimal. Then again, the concerns expressed might be correct.
False. They didn't give almost any information about the positionals period so there is no expectation that they would have told you anything for any case at all. You're making assumptions. Exclusion of information is not admission that the opposite is true. That's not how logic or reasoning work. There is no common sense here about what you're preaching.
BLM with Enochian they get at level 60 that completely changes the rotation would like a word for you and your repeated assumptions.
The first reasonable thing I've seen you say since this info was released.
Would be a bit different if the announcement for MNK would've been that they get a laggy mudra system.
Besides, the dismay from NINs doesn't solely come from the fact that they mentioned positionals, but that they DIDN'T mention anything new or exciting, at all. MNK gets a new, awesome-sounding mechanic. DRG gets a new, awesome-sounding mechanic. NIN gets to use Raiton more often. Small wonder that NINs would be disappointed from that presentation.
Could it possibly be that they're still withholding information from us? Like, say, they didn't show us everything regarding job abilities to come?
I mean, level 50 to 60 -- I only just now thought of possible new traits that might make the skills even better. And maybe those were just a select number of skills they talked about.
What it seems like everyone's forgetting is there will be life beyond 3.0. It's only set in stone until they decide to change it. For better or for worse, I don't know.
Of course they haven't shown us everything. There were abilities shown that weren't discussed at all. Nobody can say that all the changes we're getting will be bad or good, all we can say is what the presentation at the Live Letter made it look like, whether it was amazing or a letdown. And NIN's presentation was a major letdown. That doesn't mean that NIN won't be amazing with Heavensward, it just means that NIN's presentation was very sad in comparison to DRG and MNK, and didn't exactly raise people's expectations - quite the opposite. So people are worried.
I just don't see what's so bad about positional strikes. Having to move around an enemy to get that extra bit of damage couldn't possibly be much different than running away from incoming AoE. At least if you mess up, it's the enemy that's still getting hurt.
