shorten the content timers!

leves make sp go pretty fast, let me tell you

making the timer shorter would not be a great idea

right now, with leves, you can do 30-40k per hour, thats more then grinding still
so 3-4 hours at most, to gain a rank....in an MMo thats EXTREMELY fast

even grinding 20-25k per hour is 4-5 hours tops which is uber fast for an mmo too


leave it as is, or make the timer longer

if anything, give us the option to pick from every leve at a camp instead of 3 random ones

First, no it doesn't NEED to be done. If you had 24 leves to do within 36 hours, that's all people would need do to get to 50 and they would get there in under a week. It's not just about getting 50, it's about the journey along the way. Partying with friends, having fun, getting together, killing NMs.

What you are proposing would make it useless for people to even buy new gear on the way up because they're leveling SO FAST that it's somewhat pointless.

Also, while I don't exactly advocate grinding for long periods of time, since I tend to get bored within a couple hours, your opinion of FFXI is simply opinion. Also, grinding mobs in FFXI and mithra have literally nothing to do with each other, so don't act as if they like staring at Mithra any more than you do simply because they like grind XP parties. It was a style of gameplay. Although not a style that you are willing to accept, nor is it something that should be forced upon you, it is still a viable option in this game and actually fun when you get in a party with your friends. Yes, improvements should be made in the future to balance different types of playing for everyone, but you seem to forget that Leves have been taken from the center light as the main way of leveling. Grind parties aren't the only way, but they help.

What I do:
If my LS is putting together a grind party, sure I'll go with them. Do that for a couple hours, then get tired of it so I leave.
I check to see if the leve-timer has reset. It has, so I spend a couple of hours using up my Levels for the day and 1/2. Maybe not even using all of them. During this time, I can probably do 2 Behests for a bit of extra XP. With that, I've gone from 32-37 easily within the last week since the chances to leves have been introduced.

AND, I'm sorry to say, but that's playing extremely casually. Half of this last week I've been sitting in the city just talking to LS members for fun and helping them do the Summer Event. I've even seen people in my LS in the 45+ level range leveling up much faster too.

people here seem to be of the opinion that because they enjoy grinding for hours everyone else should be forced to do the same thing. there are people in game that enjoyed leve parties and do not enjoy open world camp pull and spank grinding. we do not like grind parties and have never said that should be taken away, but because you do not like leves you want them removed.

we have to understand that people have multiple playing styles and multiple opinions on what is fun. just because some people finds leve parties fun does not mean you are wrong for wanting more grinding, but the other way around is saying you want grinding so people are wrong for wanting leve parties. it's a double standard, but about par for the course around here.

I can respect that people prefer the leves.

BUT they are adding more content as we speak. Behests, Raids, Grinding, Quests... There are soo many opportunities to gain SP right now.

It's not all about playstyle though. You have to think about it on a game developers level. It's about balancing leveling and if leves reset every 4-8 hours, everyone would be rank50 in a matter of possibly 4 days.

That's not what we need.

Leve currently give much more SP than Grind. Therefore if leve is repeatable unlimited time, SP reward will need to be dumb-ed down to things balanced. If they are reduced, OP will not like it. Let's face it, this game isn't aiming to let people capping their rank within 1 week. Even SWTOR isn't, unless they lie about the 100 hour long story worth to cap.

Who in the world said Leves should be removed? All I'M saying is that Leves shouldn't be changed from how they are now.

You do realize that Leves AND Behests are both essentially grinding, right? You just have specific targets and you're one from point A to point B instead of sitting around to rest your MP. You can even get more reward within an hour than people who grind instead. Sure, you can only do 2 Behests every hour and 1/2, but at least it keeps quick-fingered players from hoarding the Behests from people who are patiently waiting their turn. 45 minutes makes sense.

So, technically, you're doing less work (Leves that require you to pick up pages off the ground isn't exactly what I'd call "tough content"), with the ability to do it solo, for more/equal amount of EXP that a grind party can get in an hour.

I'm sorry but I don't see what's left to complain about. It's a great way to get SP, but it's not in the center light anymore and shouldn't be. I didn't buy this game because I wanted to do Leves all day. We'll get more content in the future, so this is just our reality right now.

Actually, at 2010's E3 they mentioned each class having a total of 700 hours of storyline for their own personal storyline. Now, most of that could be endgame, but who knows.

i was not responding to the 4-8 hour reset like was mentioned in the op. i was referring to the people in this thread that keep saying they should be put on a longer timer than they are now. i would never suggest anything lower than a 24 hour timer so you could do a set of leves a day for the casuals. i would never reduce it less than that because then it is not what i would consider casual content because i don't know any casuals that have time to run 3-6 full sets of leves every day. if they are on long enough to do that many sets of leves there's many other options to do.

i know a few that have been in the game only since a week or so before the patch and are already almost to 50 on their second class by just grinding. what's the difference?

like i said above i never said a 4-8 hour timer so they could be ran repeatedly. i was just saying they should not be extended to like 48+ that some others have mentioned.

Then my bad, but I don't see any where they mention they will raise the reset timer. In fact they actually mention about ticketing system where you can get leves for the reset you missed because you weren't online.
