Actually id like it for those people you pick up to fill out your raid group, like the Dragoon my FC picked up to fill out our t6 run who turned out to be doing about 80 dps in i94 gear. No real way to see that without it.

I.... did not know that was possible. On topic, I do want a DPS meter that only the player can see like on a dummy that we can put at our house. The reason is if a person can work up their maximum output, when they get into the same situation and perform at the same efficiency, the output will be higher than before. 85% efficiency on a 360 DPS will be higher than 85% efficiency on a 320 DPS so there are merits to let people work out their rotations and actually see numbers.

i understand everything your saying OP and i would like it too because "me, myself, and I" would like to improve my dps for my monk and dragoon without having to use other people that have parsers to parse me!. I WANT TO BE MY PERSONAL BEST.

I love how people try to use T8 to pull a straw man.

T8 isn't about parses. It's about optimization and teamwork. Parsing isn't going to do T8 people much good. Their ability to do the mechanics naturally leads them to parse high in that fight and win.

You can pretty much say if you fail T8, it's totally not about scoring low on parsing but you're parsing lower as a result for failing T8.

T8 maybe a big fat training dummy, but it still has mechanics.

So much strawman worthy of elitism.

Question: Did you cleared T6? If yes, then no problem.

If no, after about 2 tries, and everyone notes someone is not playing a job to it's full capacities, perhaps asking if everything is ok? Perhaps he's like my GF, in Japan playing on NA servers.. by the time she sees the fireball icon in T5 (sometimes she don't even see it) - it's too late..

What we did to circumvent: Every other players sticks around her to mitigate dmg, with the OT, because they see her Icon over her head. Works. A good communication can go a long way in MMOs..

It's not a straw man because you miss the mark on what I mean. I'm not talking about parsing so that I can nail T8. It was simply an example where your damage is indeed important to success. I can nail the mechanics and have good teamwork for days but if I can't output basic damage required even at a standstill then there is no amount of teamwork or knowledge of the fight that will fix that for you. I\\'m specifically trying to give people a tool to help them optimize their personal rotations. Not to replace teamwork or practice. So you really see absolutely no merit in giving people a tool to simply improve their solo rotations and efficiency?

T6 is a pretty big uptime fight. If that drg is parsing 80dps, you don't need a parser to realize it. It's very simple to see someone not hitting the boss/adds and it's mechanics.

I would chalk that up to another strawman. You really don't need a parser in t6 to know who is pulling their weight. It's pretty obvious who is dead weight in T6. Then entire fight is pretty much a multi-task game.

While it probably does help to know a rough parse number. It really matters very little as the only push is at the end of after super slugs, and well a 1-2-3 drg is pretty obvious and a dead drg is more obvious.

Also, if you are doing T6 properly your entire raid is stacked on top of each other, its a little harder to see who is doing what than you make it seem.

I hate this mindset so much. You are wrong. Simply, wrong.

I want to be able to see my own dps because I want to be able to assess my rotations and my gear when I am using them, preferably when I am on my own and not working on group content. I don't need or want anyone else to know that information, but it is useful to me in playing the game the way I want to play it. It doesn't effect anyone else. It just helps me become a better player.

Why shouldn't square provide a tool in game to do that?

The argument against I keep hearing seems to be "because horrible people will be horrible" or something. Or people feeling like it will somehow make their own poor dps magically more visible to others - when it won't actually make a blind bit of difference. Groups won't suddenly start asking dps what their secret number is, because people lie. Those who already kick for poor gear or poor performance will continue to kick using exactly the same criteria as they do now. Nothing will change, except people like me who want a tool for self-evaluation would have one. Stop inventing scare stories.
