Small details aside, I think I know what they were getting at.

If we're talking about the male miqo'te just above the Lalafell in the centre... he's clearly holding some elaborate knife/shortblade in his right hand. Can't tell what's in the left hand though (unless throwing Lalafell has become a way to beat certain fights and nobody told us)
Hinted at through the CSs
THF NIN
Possibly hinted at
Assassin
Hinted at through "far east" theme, and "doma"
SAM, elementalist, blue mage
Side note, SE could win a lot of points if the SAM job or the katana class leader's name is Cyan
As much as I love the Ideas of SAM, or anything else, this thread is intended to discuss the possible dual wielding class hinted at in the story.
This is not to say I wouldn't LOVE to play DRK, SAM, or PUP again, but there isn't much hint to them yet, and threads that go off topic seem to get locked...
-back on topic:
I am still hoping in THF and NIN being jobs.. and since its mah thread and i do what i want. I say the base class is Bandit. for reasons.
And I also hope its 1 item, both hands, but both daggers need not match.
I want gunblades! SE, GIMME GUNBLADES. They exist in this game, SO GIMME!
^ Some people just want to watch the world burn... and not read.
Really..really..really hope Ninja isn't made into an evasion style tank again. Easiest solution, just dont use shadow like spells. The elemental powders were fine, but the Utsusemi powders, no.
I like Thief/Assassin type of job types, skulking around in the shadows, dagger tosses, sneak attacks, things like that. But it should remain a DPS class. Possibly support in a sense.
I'm thinking that both Thief and Ninja will split off from a common class, possibly "Rogue" or something similar.
If they DO split off from the same class, though, I doubt that they'll both be DPS largely because it seems kind of pointless to have a split at all if both splits are serving essentially the same function. I suppose you could make an argument for "support DPS" vs "straight DPS", but it still seems off to me.
If we do accept that the split will fill two different roles, neither Thief or Ninja seems suited for a Healer role, and so one of them would likely wind up as a Tank instead. Between Thief and Ninja, if one were to be a Tank I'm guessing it will wind up being Ninja for the simple reason that, whether you LIKE the fact or not, FFXI has established Ninja as a tanking role in the Final Fantasy MMO community.
But who knows? Maybe SE will surprise us. Ninja medic for the win!
I love how everyone is like "OMG Ninja!" but completely ignored the obvious plug of a musketeer made by the Admiral (I'm not even gonna try spelling her name >_>) I felt like that scene where she is shoot while the other two are doing their weird agile moves was so obviously point out a Ninja and Musketeer thingy that it wasn't even worth discussing ._.
That's because musketeer was promised, they have a guild, there are guns all over the place in Eorzea, (even just sitting on tables in Hauke Manor) yet still no musket job, it will get here when it gets here, but theres no sense beating a dead chocobo about it, we have a new chocobo to beat to death!
