Vanya Gear Set...Not As Good As I thought?

as a scholar I wouldn't go with the Vanya set anyway. I just wanted the robe but looking at stats of other items I'm mixing & matching things like Spruce Pattens and DL pants.
I think it's a good idea to check out what stats each gives and which one you feel is better for you. Obviously Mind and Piety are gonna be mostly the same but then you will have difference with things like Spell Speed, Determination and Critical.

For a BLM to notice any significant change to spell speed, we would have to dump everything we had into gear that has high spell speed and it's just not worth it. There's a google doc that shows it somewhere, I don't have it bookmarked on this pc. I'm gonna give Pofo's guide a shot and see where it lands me. :D Thanks for the replies everyone.

As much as I would like to have a set, I'm just not gonna spend millions of gil on it. DL works fine and I'll let a bit of time pass as it'll all be Myth gear.

Slight correction. You can't resell ilvl70 crafted gear anymore, assuming you meant to use it and then put it up again on the Market Board. No matter the relation between item level and content level, you'll immediately have any equipped items bound to yourself.

The Vanya set is better than DL, but only just a slight margin.

So it's really up to you if you wanna drop that kind of cash on some gear you're only going to use to get to Myth/Alla gear, or save it for something down the road. Honestly, I'd just save it, the crafted gear is barely better than DL, you prolly wont even notice the difference.

Frankly, the Myth upgrades are better and far cheaper to get than Vanya.

even with 5 matarias, it's not as good as AF2 or Allagan.

really... you don't want the added crit you could get using vanya robe/hat and crit materia?

Sure, if you've been saving up myths for weeks. Otherwise no, vanya is cheaper to get. All you have to do is buy it or buy some materials and craft it yourself. For AF2 you have to farm 300 myths a week until you have enough (minimum 3 weeks for body or pants), and for allagans well you need to be geared to get into coil in the first place...

I think that counts as crafting even if it's not endgame crafting... The materia is definitely a good money maker but I usually craft gear to spiritbond rather than buy it, I assume you did the same?

so far i have been. I only spam this one leve because its easy to hit HQ 99.9% of the time for me and the turn in is 3 times per 1 leve. I wouldn't go as far to say this is crafting. compared to my FC mates and others, this isn't crafting. It's not using a class properly IMO. But like I said, its easy and fast money I only have to do a 99 times a week (i only do it until all leves are gone then wait for restock) and it'll take me to 50 in no time to be able meld my jewelry and craft level 50 jewelry eventually. I SB Zircon choker/earrings/bracelet/ring over and over and over again for its the cheapest to obtain that is worth wearing in dungeons. considering Im just a level 40 GS. I spend 5K to buy the 4 piece of jewelry which i turn around and usually get savage might materia III out of it selling for 25K a piece, some savage aim materia III sometimes at 20K a piece. I make 75 to 100k every SB round I do, which i only do when myth tomes are reset on mondays. after I have all my AK or WP runs in, its back to crafting rings and doing the leve and such.
