It's funny you say that about being bored on Sunday/Monday, when making the exo cap per job, not character solves that without removing the time gate that's there. It gives incentive for people to log in everyday, for longer periods of time, so they can cap all of there jobs, not just to do a daily and logout. Seriously, who only has one job at cap, or going to be near 60? Not many, been months since I've seen someone with only one job.

The daily roulette bonus only applies to one job, so all those extra tomes they'd have to grind without the daily. This increases the grind, not lowers it. If people want to gear up their PLD and SMN, they can do both at the same time, they just have to play more, do more to accomplish this. Or....they can ignore it and go business as usual.

How anyone argues against this truly baffles me. It benefits everyone, hurts nobody, and doesn't hand gear to people on a silver platter. All while keeping that idiotic, yet precious to some, time sink firmly in place.

Truly, if SE insists on forcing us to grind different colored/named tomestones forever this is the best way to go about it.

Of course, there's only so long people are going to put up with the same old song and dance.

Yea ppl like you have one thing in mind bum rush to 60 bum rush all my gear ohhh jeez i have nothing to do and i expect new stuff to come out every time i'm bored. Sound about right? in a mmo all you do is the same crap every day it's called the day by day grind

Seriously though your again missing the point. Most people expected the expansion to be different with enough variety of atuff to do but instead its in several ways 2.0 dullgrind only with MORE boring grind for less return on rewards. True the devs need to make the content last a while but the gating is so blatantly obvious is hardly worth bothering to play at all. This isnt about casual even its the fact that the content released is so.. excessively grindy and boring compared to the earlier content. The esoterics grind is just the most blatant manifestation of it as I for example like many others we would focus on the job specific armor and upgrade that. Instead its added as gated content at a rate thats so slow that it takes nearly 2 months just to get the core armor and weapon for Just one job.

Esoterics is the old Poetics/Soldiery armor system but the armors only good on one job. Same work Less reward. Thats the biggest gripe. Im fine to put the work in if it feels its achievable at a reasonable rate but everything with 3.0 is grossly overinflated from dungeon grinds for alts to poor rewards from fates (though they have adjusted them this week) to the new esoterics gear. I mean it should only take 3 weeks and not take 2 months to get a core 5 piece armor set and weapon. The challenge should be in upgrading em further.

I agree with you here the same system from 2.0 with less reward is counterproductive and it feels rehashed and stale. Im not gonna go omg unsub but at the same time im not gonna be inclined to play this as much as ffxi at the moment since right now ffxi has tons of things to do right now. Im barely bothered to login to do the expert and trial roulette simply because to do anything else feels too grindy. It doesnt feel like enjoyment and accomplishment it feels like work and a hassle.

I think you are very mistaken in that viewpoint. No one in my guild imagined the expansion to be any different in terms of the gear grind, just the same old with new lore and a major story expansion and we got it.

To think the idea of the core aspect that has made this game stay alive for 2 years would be changed when every other MMO has failed is a total miscalculation by you and the people who claim they expected something new. No doubt by adding more and class specific tome gear the systems needs tweaking. but to expect how it works to change was never in the picture by SE.

You may have wanted it but financials tell a different story. That doesn't mean things shouldn't evolve over time, but as long as FFXIV is gaining more and more revenue like it has been since launch it won't change.

I like how a few people's argument hinges on playing and gearing multiple jobs while ignoring the fact that, aside from esoteric gear (which is AF3: Job specific gear), we are gearing multiple jobs for use already. Play mage, do Alex NM, get mage gear, both your blm and smn are geared. Play BRD, gear MCH. Play any tank and all your tanks are geared. Capping tomes isn't as grindy as people think it is, as you acquire it from most content you'd be doing anyway, without even noticing you're capping. The only place that "requires" top end gear (i200+) is A4, and if you're clearing that, you're getting top end gear for multiple jobs AND farming esoterics for the AF3 you prefer anyway.
