Nice use of DOTA/Warcraft 3 picture to symbolize WoW. no sarcasm, just plain dumb on your part, couldn't even get the right game.

yes I read the sarcasm, I was stating use an actual wow picture, not one from DOTA/Warcraft 3. lol how is that being an idiot? The photo for the WoW comparasion wasn't even WoW.
while he used an XI photo for the XI comparison. That was what I was calling dumb not the words.
The problem is that some of these complainers want fancy stylized shit, and have only played World of Warcraft or a Korean MMO and only know those things and have no frame of reference to use when they criticize FFXIV in a proper context.
My personal opinion is that things should stay on-theme for FFXIV's setting - keep it fantasy, but don't go outside the bounds of "middle to low fantasy" realism when it comes to armor and equipment design. Rare exceptions can be made for certain pieces of equipment based on their rarity or lore.
For example, some swords might be exorbitantly designed and excessively shiny, but that would have to match the lore behind it, rather than just as some stupid reward.
So let's do a pretend scenario for a minute. Let's pretend that Ishgard finally opens up, but the expansion casts the storyline as Ishgard being under a secret Imperial occupation. When you finally defeat the leader of that occupation, you receive his weapon.
Now, if the leader happened to be the Emperor or an Ascian, or even a low-ranking Legatus, their weapon would probably be designed somewhat outside the norms for Eorzean weaponry. (Case in point, Gunlance and Gunblade) But instead, for this scenario it would be a very fancifully crafted and enchanted weapon that has a very artistic flair to it reminiscent of some weapons from Lineage 2 or AION. The reason for this sword's design would be because it was "purported to have been blessed by the Twelve" and because of said blessing, the weapon took on a unique, heavenly form.
And so on.
The Ifrit weapons just come off as a cheap carrot on a stick for getting us to do the Ifrit fight, and horribly designed ones, at that.
Get my drift?
Gotta support my fellow Vanille fans! lol She was annoyingly peppy. But I liked her style!
The animal fur, skins and beads were nice. Though I would think a Gridanian may abhore your fashion. Or at least spend weeks in meditation trying to appease the Greenwrath that would be caused by her outfit! lol
A picture is worth a thousand words: http://images.wikia.com/finalfantasy...FantasyXIV.jpg
I don't want cartoony, but I do would like a strong Final Fantasy flavor to remain with the art direction.
I thought most of the Ifrit weapons looked overly bulky and hard to even wield. >.>
The bow is so.. faaaat... O.o; How is it even practical? XD If the top were only a little thinner, less heavy looking, it might look really cool.
I DO like the lance, axe, and staff though. Those looked amazing. Especially that axe!
The rest though.. I wouldn't bother getting them even if I had the job leveled. XD Even if it was the best weapon in the game for a long time. No thanks.
I don't want my characters looking ridiculous.
Unless the sizes (thickness mainly) of the CON, PGL, ARC, and possibly GLA weapons are decreased a bit, I'll wait for better weapons.
^^; If they're not, I'll try not to look at them. XD They just look silly to me.
I actually love the weapon designs and that they glow and such. Really like the fantasy look and that they seem to come right from Ifrit's body.. But if only they weren't so fat. lol
