Cartoony art style, hell no we won't go

After the video of the ifrit battle weapon drops, I read a large amount of negative feedback about the stylization and artwork design. I thought the thm and conj weapons were done nicely, however the archer and gladiator *edit* also pugilist, man is it big */edit* maybe a bit much....

I can say emphatically nobody wants http://woweconomist.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/81830.jpg"]this after reading enough post:

But what do we want? Can we come up with some dialog to describe what we think the art style should be for ff14 moving forward. At launch there seemed to be a large amount of base (bland) gear. Moving forward I want to see more Final Fantasy brand flare, but not to the point where it breaks down the 4th wall by looking so over the top as to be out of place with the rest of the game design.

    here's a start:

I'd like weapons and armor to look functional
    - Pugilist weapons would break your wrist if you used them irl. They should be attached at the forearm not held. (pet peeve)

I'd like weapons to be realistically sized

Armor shouldn't be overly stylized like a tron suit (ease up on the lines!)

    what else....stay on art style.
*edit* someone posted this picture and I think it is a shining example of what final fantasy xiv art style should continue to strive for. http://images.wikia.com/finalfantasy...FantasyXIV.jpg */edit*
