That's not exactly what I got.
If you dont kill the smells monkey's before, he stay there, and block you the pass.

But what I got is, during the last pack of monsters with the 2 smalls monkeys, he came, and attack me, like it was is normal boss's room of fight, he did basic attack that hurt me hard, and we where all so surprise to see him there, we didn't know what to do.
I tried to run away but I cant tank a boss for more then 2-3 attacks.

Sounds similar to the old Haukke Manor Story dungeon glitch. In the last cutscene before the boss, it was possible for pets to aggro the boss and pull her out of the room. Sometimesyou would exit the cutscene and find the boss busy killing everyone in the party! Those were the days, Haukke Manor and glitchy pet AI. :).

Exactly. I get the impression that some of these people are either used to premade groups that make the speed pull process absolutely painless, or are trying to imitate tanks who speed run properly without understanding that it requires proper cooldown use, positioning, and immediate cooperation from the other three members. If someone tries to do this with people they don't know without even saying anything, they're just asking for trouble. It's a little more expected in Brayflox HM, but even there it can happen.

I can only imagine that this is the case. i've had those...

My contribution is in Wandering Palace, tank decides to pull up to the room at the top of the stairs. Fine, then as soon as I start casting my Adlo he takes off running again, taking the next 2 groups. Okay. I can lustrate. Then he runs around the next corner taking the mobs in the room and hiding from my heals. 2nd attempt, he pulls everything up to the boss. he has almost no health left when he stops at the end, I can only lustrate because he's losing health at such an atrocious rate that only spamming lustrate is keeping him alive. Of course that doesn't work and we wipe. 3rd time, he does the exact same thing except I get enmity on the mobs due to the lustrates get killed again, another wipe. I leave right there. I should have said something about pulling less or using CDs but I was stuck on that I had been able to heal this before no problems and i ragequit.

I don't know what it is, but that has been happening an inordinate amount of times where i'm just starting my heals and the tank decides he needs to run with the pack of mobs around a corner. A better illustration of what i'm talking about is in the Lost city of Amdapor, the last trash pull the tank grabs everything and holds for a little bit. He is taking a lot of damage, but nothing I can't heal through, except then he starts running back up the stairs, interrupting my heal because he is no longer in line of sight. I run up the stairs, lustrate 2x, get aggro, get killed. While I didn't get yelled at or anything, i've been dealing with this. Why the running?

That's another pet peeve of mine, unnecessary movement. I don't mean moving out of aoes or going to pick up loose enemies when provoke is down, but things like spin tanking mobs for no reason or suddenly darting out of range or behind an object to interrupt/prevent the healer from healing. I realize that most of this sporadic movement isn't intentional griefing, but it's very annoying. I enjoy giving them pointers. I do my best to throw in like 5 smileys to make sure they don't think I'm trying to be a jerk.


Now for the horror story...the DRG continuously attacked what the PLD was NOT attacking....even ignoring number tags. And then he'd pull things that we weren't fighting...since they were all new, we were trying to NOT pull the whole world...

After giving him pointers, like "Try to keep on the same mob as the tank" and "Once both gauges are up, use LB2 on boss" I get the "Dude I get it" response, and he continues to not do any of that...and we wipe because he's taking too much damage because not only is he not fighting what the tank is fighting, he doesn't have proper gear. I'm too busy trying to heal him and raise him while keeping the tank up, and we wipe on last boss because he just wasn't quick enough on his feet. And for some reason either ignored "LB!" or doesn't know what it means. Not to mention, whenever he'd take any damage on any of the bosses in there, he would run away and not attack anymore until he was topped off. Even if he got hit once, because 3 hits and he was dead. Seriously. Not to mention he just kept dying to aoes. I don't care how good of a healer anyone can be...you can't help someone who instantly does to aoes from full health. I wasted so much MP raising that kid. And the fact that he wouldn't attack...I would throw Aero and such on the boss to try to get some damage going...since the fights would last much longer than they needed to and I was running out of mp raising this kid. Yikes.

So my pet peeve is when I give friendly pointers to new players and they respond with things that basically say "Shove it" and ignore me...and ultimately cause issues in the group.

Another time I had a tank in Aurum Vale who refused to use flash, saying it was useless. He was an undergeared pld, at the time I was at least an i90 drg...so I was taking hate...so I told him why it WASN'T useless, and he flipped out and said "You're not a tank, don't tell me how to tank" And I was like "I'm all maxed out on jobs actually...I've played each role..just trying to help you out." And then he sat at the entrance for 30 minutes. (This was before the vote kick)

I have a lotttt of stories.

This next story I have to speak for a healer I was paired up with in our AV run and as a fellow healer, I sympathize with her. I was leveling BLM and did an AV run in the DF. We had this idiot/troll DRG who'd purposely go AFK in the majority of the fights with the trash mobs, making the fights take way freaking longer than they needed to. Healer had to spam macro sound effects just to get the DRG moving. The DRG's reason for constantly going ninja AFK? "lol sorry im looking up stuff for time cards". Said DRG would then start pulling mobs before the tank could do it and would also pull mobs while the tank was busy engaging other mobs first. Why did the DRG do this? "lol i need the XP"


We wiped more than once and the tank could not keep hate because of the DRG's shenanigans. Eventually, our healer decided to leave the DRG dead at one point and then I called for a vote kick. DRG is booted....and then he comes right back in -_- We still managed to clear the dungeon, but I wanted to rage quit so hard because of that jack off. People like that DRG is exactly the reason why DPS will never get any respect.

You have far more patience for griefers than I do. I don't think I have ever initiated a vote kick on someone myself, but I have agreed on a few votes involving particularly unpleasant individuals. People like this are bad enough under normal circumstances, but this was happening in Aurum Vale of all places. If I saw a jerk like that just rejoin like that, I'd be gone in a heartbeat. I take a lot of abuse, but a vote kicked griefer rejoining the same party is just something I wouldn't be able to handle. Kudos for putting up with his antisocial behavior.

I think we all knew that if all 3 of us kept kicking him out, he would just come back again. Seriously Square, why do you allow people who are kicked to rejoin the same instance?

But also, I really wanted to finish the dungeon so I could level my BLM to 50 and didn't want to be locked out of content for 30 minutes (I am also doing Nexus farming and being locked out would have sucked). I've seen far worse griefers. The worst part is that the healer KNEW who this tool was since they're both apparently in the same FC and he had pulled this nonsense off before. Maybe their FC leader promotes that kind of behavior or they just don't care. I feel awful for that healer who had to put up with him.

Titan HM again. Decided to farm him to work through my short comings (and so that I can stop screaming internally and externally the moment I see him appear in roulette).

I was doing pretty well the first time. Ended up goaled - which I'm okay with, I've never had problems. Titan decided it was high time.

Always had problems with 458956439 WotLs surrounding me so no amount of sprint in the universe will save me, and had some strange incidents with Landslide a few times (I was slid off while still in the goal, once, but never again since; another time I had been so far and so long out of landslide that I'd traveled around the turd and to the other side of him.... and still got pushed off from the opposite side. Even the tank called bullshit on that slide).
But never goals.

DPS starts breaking me out of the goal - Titan shoots a landslide marker my way... I was hoping the dps would abandon ship BEFORE the AoE hit, but they broke me out just as it did - even while hitting the ground strafing with Q (Had it held down, pre-break).
Weeeeeeee- *splat*

Second attempt after, I'm goaled.... no landslide this time, just broken out with three stacks of WotL under my feet. Insta death, regardless of strafe, again x.x But I can be raised, this time! Unfortunately, things went haywire. Titan ended up in the middle of the platform and bombs plopped down. We lost about half of the platform space to work with as one side was getting mountain bustered. I don't remember the exact reason (probably landslides.... a good chunk of this part is a bit of a chaotic blur for me x_x), but we were pretty much piled in a corner on one side of the platform dodging WoTLs. And then the before mentioned bombs. And then the Booms and the 'Ow's. :(

Just me + Titan = bad luck


I also noticed something, in reference to that example of getting tossed off the platform regardless how short a time I was in and how far away I was from the landslide marker -
I really think I have some kind of AoE lag issue... I noticed in Ultima HM, one night, that a WHM and I (on another character, which was BRD) were standing vertical of each other (they in front of me). AoE marker pops up under us both (I believe it was an ifrit plume). I was the first out of the AoE marker, a few steps ahead of the WHM. I received damaged while the WHM is clear and fine o_O No one lag-jumped and the WHM's movements were clear, so I don't think it was a lag spike.... but... maybe?

Had that happen, before - I and two other FC mates were in a DF with a pugged tank. The tank was a bit rude (eeehhhh you don't get away with much when someone is rude and insults one's RL spouse... especially on a bad night, apparently) and was voted out. They came back in again, laughing.... so we ended up jumping ship, knowing they'd just come back in. (I thought it was a little extreme in the first place, but, oh well)

SE really needs to do something about rejoining instances....

So, as SMN, as soon as I get out of the aoe marker I cast bio or ruin 2 - something that is instant. It solved my issues with landslide lag at least.

This will happen quite often in random groups. There is a way to prevent falling off though. If you get gaoled move directly under titans ass leaving around the same space to your left and right. When a landslide is going to end up in your direction and you're still in the gaol by the time the animation starts DO NOT try to move. Yes, you will eat the landslide but the platform in HM is big enough to not fall off if you stand close enough to titan.

This is actually quite normal as you receive the position of other characters later than they actually move. For example: If you move from A to B with another person and the person is shown to be at the same position as you are while walking in reality this person is ahead of you. So depending on your connection and how fast the server is sending you this information: "A few steps ahead" can mean you were actually a step behind and thus getting hit.
This of course doesnt mean you cant have lags. It just means that other characters movement are never a good measuring point.

Stone Vigil (normal mode): Tank was unable of keep aggro, but same I dying several times, we manage to arrive at the last boss. And then... Both dps die and do not wait me resuscitates them. I stay healing and dpsing until Isgebind fall dead. Long fight.

Well, I love my mp almost infinite (I only to play as scholar).

Ok, fresh level 48 and here's the story of my first Aurum Vale.

Our tank was... very motivated. He had Flash as a warrior but didn't seem to have Provoke (yet). But WAR still had means to generate enmity from distance, right? Those hatchet things!

Well he didn't seem to be particularlt aware of them. He would wade straight into trash mobs and incur the ire of 5, 6 mobs at the same time.

I almost called it quits when he managed to aggro 2 Goldvines at the same time.

After 3 complete wipes we cleared the dungeon after 45 minutes...

And I didn't get a single drop :(

Can't really call this a "horror story," as it was only story mode of Tam-Tara where nothing can really go wrong, but it was an awkward time healing the other night.

The tank seemed to be squishier than I'm used to, requiring some fairly regular heals. Not a problem, that's my job after all -- but I would often pull aggro just by performing the necessary healing. Mobs would routinely turn their backs on the tank and go after either myself or one of the DPS -- and the tank seemed to be unaware, or at least made no attempts to pull them back. I think he was simply poorly geared and perhaps still learning the role, whereas I was very overgeared -- and like I said, Tam-Tara, so it's nothing to blow a gasket over. It was just kind of unsettling, to feel like "Okay, I need to heal you now, but if I do that it's going to be bad news for me..."

A FC mate and I were helping another FC mate with relic stuff and we queued for Chimera. Wiped once. Neither PLD nor bards were silencing the Ram's voice. People weren't dodging, etc. The other WHM in the group seemed to be rather passively healing the group (her MP never went down past 3/4), whereas I was actively healing, esuna-ing debuffs, swiftcast raising on occasion, etc. This was all using divine seal and presence of mind whenever I could it was so bad.

Despite my best efforts to conserve MP (and hoping the other WHM would heal more), I ended up running out of MP as soon as both bards in the group went down. I had already used SoS and a mega ether and one of them had mage ballad up for me, even if Swiftcast wasn't on CD I hadn't the MP to raise. Everyone but me and the main tank went down, so 3 bar finally gets up and I pop the heal LB just before the thunderball thing comes out. LB works, but I get hit by thunderball, then covered in blizzard circles trying to esuna myself (paralyze stopped it every time). Ram voice goes off, everyone dies. 2nd round went much smoother, but I had the same MP problem.

Then did AV with the same two (me healing, they were DPS) FC mates. Our tank was level 49, but all of his gear was level 37 or under apart from the 45 AF gear. I think he had a level 24 ring on him as well lol. Really had no issues throughout the dungeon, but I was healing much more often than I was used to and ended up pulling hate quite a bit with regular heals (not overhealing mind you).

My healing horror story has to be the first time I did Aurum Vale. It was pretty ridiculous actually. We kept having problems with the first boss as the White Mage could not keep up with the constant poison stacks and he was clearly in trouble the whole way through.

Our tank was very polite and kept asking the healer to rely on Regen at the 1st boss, but the White Mage kept using mostly Cure I & II and of course struggled to keep everyone alive. After a few wipes we finally got through the first boss and THEN the healer realizes that he hasn't finished ANY of the class quests for WHM and that he really does not have Regen unlocked.

We ended up finishing the dungeon and didn't wipe once after people adjusted to the fact that the WHM was basically just a conjurer with a shiny rock in his pocket.

I was the WHM in this story... I'm still walking around with my head held down cause of all the SHAME.

I unlocked Regen at level 48 after that. :3

I wish I knew this ages ago. Suddenly... everything is explained.

I ran a hest, yesterday, where I had to chase the tank with the mob that was on me. And he didn't want it. :|
It was just the hest with the two mobs, then the Goubboe + mob appearing afterwards.

Everything was backwards.
The tank waited for the DPS to attack first, I tanked all the mobs (the tank held no aggro whatsoever and the DPS were the attack initializers, so I had to heal the DPS from the mobbage. One cure1 = ALL THE THINGS.) and the thaum (I believe I was the only one there with a soul stone...) had to help heal me (arrrgh..... *shamed*) since my casts kept getting interrupted or had to stop my own casts in trying to kite and skirt a million aoes to save myself.
So, I had initially done the thing you're supposed to do.
I ran the mob to the tank.
However, the tank - fixated on just the gobboe - ran away from me. So I looked like a shmuck running around this giant gobboe, with a mob of junk on me, after this guy, hoping he'd take it.
....
So I gave up and just let the trash stay with me -_- It seriously made me wonder if I was doing something wrong (...I just automatically assume of such >_<), but I've run majority of these low level hests a million times... and never something like that. Derpy parties trying to learn or ignoring the tank aggro, sure... but nothing this backwards...

The tank was the DPS, the DPS was the healer and I (healer/WHM) was the tank. Wat.
I normally don't have a problem if I had regen to heal through the cast cancels - but no regen at that synced level.

Normally, even on the worst of parties, I would still say/type, 'Thanks for the party'.
But nope. I couldn't. Just couldn't. I couldn't even think about what to say to these guys, even as advice.
I did commendate the Thaum, though, for not letting me die while I was trying to figure this tank out. :| ("Did he not see me/the mob? Am I not in the right position? Am I not close enough? Whaaattt!? Tell meeee!")

I have the healer horror story to end all stories.

Came back after hiatus from since before 2.1. A bit after levi was new.

Got geared, wanted to do content.

Twiddled my thumbs way longer than I wanted to after I got gear. Open 2nd coil groups are extremely hard to come by on malboro.

Got in one group. Wipe to T6 for two weeks.

Left.

Looking for another static for way too long.

Got in another group.

Clear 6-8 in a month as an ilvl96 SCH still fresh to anything beyond T6.

Known for making the least amount of mistakes. Playing WoW for 6 years makes you more than ready for FF14.

Proceed to bash our heads against T9 thinking we'll beat it eventually.

It has been a little over a month of work so far.

Guy in linkshell says he needs a permanent replacement SCH for his group that farm T9 weekly.

I pass up on it, because I was satisfied with my group as long as my group went in T9 and made effort and progress. We got to Ghosts + heavensfalls.

2 days later WHM, who dragged me in the static, and into his new FC went totally dark. Without a word he's missing for the past 9 days now.

Other group found their SCH replacement before I could go crawling back.

Things are in dissary in current static.

Have to teach new WHM from the ground up starting this week.

Too many wipes to T6 tonight from stupid shit I expected the more experienced members in the group to not die to.

Pug MNK says healing is the problem, and people weren't dying to mechanics.

We had 3 different people die to blighted, at least 4 to acid rain, way too many people getting devoured, and slow thorn vine breaks.

I wanted to strangle the life out of the MNK through my monitor.

I haven't made a single mistake besides actually deciding to raid tonight when, as long as I'm logged in, I can't stop thinking about the opportunity I pissed away on faith and loyalty; two things I tell my friends to ditch when playing an MMO if they want to progress.

After we downed T6 (with just me and a tank barely alive somehow) I immediately said, I'm not teaching people T7 tonight, especially when the people I went through 6-8 with are fking up that bad at T6, and dropped group for the night.

This is a good game, but I've never have had such... a terrible experience after 7 years of playing mmos that spanned WoW, TERA, SWtOR. It's a damn shame.

I shoulda've left them in the cold and earned my kill with another group. I don't care about the weapon. I care about achieving the goal I set out to do; finish the most up to date content before it gets watered down by echo/nerfs, which is something I didn't do before I went on my hiatus pre 2.1. I'd let my account freeze with no regrets for a long time if I could just down T9, since this I have no FC, or static I could rely on for future content anymore. I just cannot trust them, and I've openly ranted in our tank's presence.

I don't know if it's this server or what, but I don't see myself dealing with this game genre too much longer.

Every time I log in, I will forever remember the opportunity I pissed away, and my betrayed faith in my group's stability a week and a half ago. That alone, ruins my desire to raid with these people, but I still went. It's a scar that won't go away unless I down T9 before the inevitable nerf that just ruins any enjoyment I could possibly have in this game.

Sounds like the coils are just not worth doing unless you have 7 friends that can work with you.

My drive to play is pretty dead right now. I want to finish what I started, and quit because I lost hope in there being anything for me on this server after that. I'm not paying for a transfer to maybe enjoy the game with a different group/communitiy of players.

I sympathize with your story. It's surprisingly difficult to find players who can learn the mechanics and perform consistently. It's unbelievably aggravating when people whom you know to have completed T6 a dozen times continue to wipe to mechanics at the start of Coil each week as if it were some kind of tradition. PvP with Cursed Voice and sucking at Minesweeping aren't any more encouraging, either.

Of course, you never really know how your decisions will pan out. I've seen players ditch their statics for more promising ones only to have that group lose key people to other circumstances. It's tough when you rarely make mistakes and watch others make stupid mistakes in every Turn, every week, though.

I have a reverse healing horror story.

Go into the very first guildhest as a PGL. Tank proceeds to aggro the first two mobs separately. It went fine as the tank really doesn't take any damage there. Then the big group with the Goobbue. Tank grabs all the enemies and is taking damage. The healer meanwhile is DPSing. The tank's health gets so low, I finally said "you know you're supposed to heal, right?". Well the tank died and I got all the aggro and eventually died too. We respawned and killed everything. The healer never responded and never casted Cure. I guess he didn't know he was a healer lol.

I haven't made a single mistake besides actually deciding to raid tonight when, as long as I'm logged in, I can't stop thinking about the opportunity I pissed away on faith and loyalty; two things I tell my friends to ditch when playing an MMO if they want to progress.

Hey there. I was reading your post and this caught my attention, so I wanted to share my input on this.

It sounds more like you need to be patient. It depends on the static obviously but 2 weeks sounds normal to me. Also the above statement is not true, my static is proof enough. People came and left, as they grew impatient and even told the leader to replace the people that weren't "up to their standards". You know what he did? He told those impatient people "You might be a good player, but not a team player. I don't stab my friends, as loyalty is very important to me. Thank you for participating. Good luck"


Few days later, we beat T6. Then T7, then so on and finally, we beat T9. You don't have to ditch loyalty and friendship in MMOs to progress. You just need to be patient.

Leaving the static in the cold like that would've been very selfish imo. I'm sure you wouldn't want that done to you. Can you imagine? "Hey we found another member, we are gonna have to replace you." out of the blue. How would you feel? I'm sure you guys would've been able to keep on going by just keep teaching the WHM, he would've eventually learned. We all have our bad days. Our static makes silly mistakes from time to time even when we have it on farm, but we don't let that bother us. We joke about it, have fun and keep on trying, even to the point where we wipe for silly things on T7 XD but then one shot T9 on the same day.

I think it took us like 4 weeks on T9? Don't remember. It was a hell of a long time though for each turn! But anyways... you can be true to your values and progress at the same time.

I guess you feel overwhelmed and frustrated because you are in a race against the clock... well nothing I can tell you there. Everyone is different and we all play for different reasons. However it doesn't seem like you are playing the game to have fun... rather to feel satisfaction reaching certain goal and that's ok we all have goals but it's not good to let that ruin the most important aspect of a game: to have fun.

I made this longer than I planned, sorry lol. It's just that you reminded me of someone I knew... that was so goal driven that he just couldn't have fun at all. He couldn't have fun with his friends nor his gf... all that mattered was his goals. If you wanna know how that ended... well not so good, eventually...

i93 WHM, I play casually usually running high lvl roulettes for soldiery and low lvl roulettes for alt jobs. Queued in to Halatali HM last night with a PLD and two bard, and the message that someone was new - one of the bards was sub 3k HPS so knew they were the likely newbie.

No chat, tank waits for Protect and then tears off grabbing first four groups - I'm used to AE but pretty sure new guy isn't - takes forever to take down pack but whatever. Tank proceeds to first boss and pulls before we can explain the mechanics and bard dies twice not knowing the fight.

Next boss, no explanation, bard dies to demon eye and then takes forever to kill it and I die. Explain the mechanics and clear next time easily.

Last boss I'm telling the new guy about the last boss as we clear the trials and we have no issues at all. PLD only words of the run were "lol bad group" as he leaves.

I get that many expect newbies to watch a vid/read a spoiler, but it's not hard to quickly tell new people basic mechanics.

I've noticed many posting here about Wanderers Palace speed runs - one of the worst runs I've had was a guy asking for a speed run and not clarifying that he wanted to do a sac(rifice) run. That's what people queuing for roulette need to understand - not everyone does runs the exact same way, so a little up front communication goes a long way.

Couldnt agree with you more on this. If someone is new, just spend 30 secs explaining the boss to them. The people who rush in without understanding this dont understand that the 30sec explaination can save 5 mins from having to re-do the boss after a wipe. Plus its only manners and courtesy to help other people, we were all new in every dungeon once ourselves.
As for the sacrifce pulls, my word, i thought these were a thing of days gone past. They are hardly necessary now.
Above all else, if you solo queue into DF, expect to be matched with anyone, new or experienced.

Your static maybe ok, but you're not the one that gets left out from progression.

Your grp sucks, you should ditch them.. Loyalty and faith are not something you give unconditionally, they need to be earned through hard work and proof of talent. From my own experience, end-game raiding in this game will always stay terrible until you find a grp that match your skill/effort lvl..

Garuda hard mode. We had a Black Mage who refused to do anything and we were hit with Garuda's shriek in the first quarter of the fight. We wiped on purpose and kicked the mage out since he was either trolling or wanting to be carried for his nexus farming.


On another incident, I did Titan Hard and had a few new people. OK, that's a non issue for me, but then the other WHM started to DPS and didn't bother helping me with healing in the first half of the fight. Several people went down since I was trying to bounce around between healing, interruptions from Titan, and reviving. The WHM then tried to flip flop between DPS and healing, which may as well amounted to doing nothing. Said WHM was also trying to DPS with an Atma relic.


After Landslide got me, I just ate the penalty and left.

Wooo I dun no whur ta start with my stories? The time I had to tank two Aevis in Stone Vigil while the Tank thought he was DPS bashing on just one? Or the time where the WAR refused, not accidentally, but REFUSED to use defiance in Aurun Vale and everything aggro'd to me especially when he did his combos BACKWARDS! Oo.Oo. I got it! The time where the tank aggro'd the whole room and then ran to the healer with the mobs using only single target attacks while they snacked on my gear and finally me.

I could write a novel in here... I also have tank horror stories but I'll save that for another thread ;)

As SCH:
At Tamtara Hard, the tank does aggro to all mobs on place after Boss 2. Of course I use Lustrate to spam heal the tank, but this tank has a low HP and drained pretty fast. I kept spam Physick + Adlo but still this tank's HP drained pretty fast and the result our party wiped. He apologizes and finally he do aggro to each group of the mobs.

As WHM:
At Thornmarch Ex, not sure if I do something wrong but I always get MP damage from the king and I depend on Shroud of Saint (too bad our party dont have BRD), still it doesn't increase the amount of my MP much. Seems lucky too that the other healer(SCH) can manage it and we can clear it smoothly.

Titan Extreme solo Tank solo heal as SCH, only issue i was rusty since my clear, and got my timers off damn elitist players i dont think they are gonna find one.:p

That also happened to me too as SCH used all my arsenal Xmind potion, illumination with Dawn, Eye for an Eye, Sacred soils lol also checked tank buffs
